GT5 Prologue is a game with downloadable content, I don't understand why just they didn't release a full featured game. The score to me is sad, it should have gotten 9's instead of 8's, not a good way to start with a bang.

I'll buy it anyways, need to try that online.

Same with me, i'm not a huge racing fan, but I've bought the last few gt games. I won't be buying prologue though. If it were downloadable at 15-20 maybe, but paying almost full price for a demo seems crazy to me.

Forza 2 was rated higher and it only cost 20 bucks more for 10 times the content. For an american game to out do any GT game demo or not is a big deal. That being said i didn't plan on getting anything but the full version anyway. Why pay 40 for a demo? That is stupid.

Graphics wise Gt5 destroys forza 2 though. The cars look so real it is a bit scary. Lack of a c0ckpit view is also a huge flaw with forza.

Weak? I think the scores are quite good because its cheap and has the content of normal racing games (unfortunately) besides Forza which is quite big, but still nowhere as big as GT when its finished.

probably because it's just that great of a game. It's like GT is still a racing game pretty much the same and that got 31/40

edit: oh I see.. well I played the GC one a boat load and still play it every so often still so it defiantly gets a 10/10 for me. 10's don't mean it is perfect per sa but it means it was just great fun and most refined game that they played at the time and will contiue to do so.

You are right Japan hates the 360. Yet they gave forza 2 a better score. This finally puts to rest what most real car nuts have been saying for years. For simulation with out a pc go with forza, it just feels more like a real car. Sure it is a GT clone but I prefer the emphasis on physics over graphics that forza offers.

This is really an achievement, GT5P scored 3 points less than Forza2, that means Forza2 is now the new choice for racing gamers and enthusiasts around the world.

Look, you like Forza, others like Forza, but Forza isn't GT. You can't be the king without beating the king and unless Forza3 is going to come out this year with as much polish and love as GT games get, just admit that Forza is your favorite, but not the darling of the racing world. It's a good game, it's even a great game, but GT is special and will remain special as long as they give it the love they always do.

Look at it this way, when Forza came out, what game did they compare it to? GT4. When Forza2 came out, there were still some comparisons to GT4. That isn't just because GT5 hadn't come out, it's also a testament to the quality of that title. Do a Google search for "forza 2 gt4 comparisons" and you'll see, people really do hold GT in that high of a regard and Forza will be second tier until they can beat Polyphony at their own game.

Polyphony has been trumped at this point. Most reviewers agreed that forza 1 felt much more realistic than gt4. GT4 is largely panned by most GT fans anyway. GT 3 was the last enjoyable gt in my opinion. Forza 2 at this moment in time is king. Maybe when the full version of gt5 comes out this will change but at this moment polyphony is playing catch up. The physics in forza have always been better than gt. The cars are so fake in gt 4 it is painful. An srt-4 fully modded can pull a 1/4 of like 13.6 in gt4 and yet a civic stock pulls a 13.8 rather than high 15s. GT is a car game for those who know nothing about cars. Is it forza light. Who had damage modeling first? Sounds like polyphony is playing catch up, not the other way around. Maybe I will eat my words with 5.

Perhaps. I suppose we'll have to wait for GT5 to see, but I personally believe that the GT series is head and shoulders above Forza and Forza2 hasn't changed that for me.

The talk of damage modeling is fruitless for me, as real damage modeling would leave my car useless or very different from the original vehicle based on some of the crashes I've been part of in my history of both Forza and GT. This is not something most people want, seeing as how Nascar and F1 folks online usually fear full damage modeling races because one bad shunt or worse will put you out of the game pretty quickly. I fear the first few laps of a full damage race, because it's not about just finding the line, it's about racing to the limit on cold tires while a full grid is doing the game all around you. That's freakin' intense and I love that about full damage games. While it's nice to see my car scraped up after a race in Forza, I'd rather be racing as opposed to trying to keep my car safe.

Let me tell ya, no hud/full damage/incar view/no assists F1 racing has been my drug of choice for a couple of months now (PS3 and F1C on PC), and I don't think I could take GT or Forza killing my ride as easily as real racers can get taken out. But that's just me, and any step to put realistic damage in a game is a good step to me.

Trying to keep your car safe and your tires the right temp is a huge part of real racing. I am not saying forza 2 is more fun to play that gt, I am saying it is more realistic which many don’t like. GT is more balance in catering to both sides of the fence. I bought my own car and cars I had owned in forza 2 and they behaved exactly like they do in real life. Sadly I can not say the same about GT. GT trades quantity for quality. I would rather have fewer cars that are more realistic than 600 cars that drive nothing like the real car. All the American cars are super slow and extremely slow imports like the civic si are fast as hell. It makes no sense. Forza keeps the cars in line with the real world specs. The risi racing team tired their own Ferrari in forza 2 and the time they got in the game track was within a second of the time they could get in real life. Many pro drivers have praised forza 2s physics and the ability to use 3 screens. Don’t get me wrong, gt is still one of the best racing games ever made but for simulation i will take forza any day of the week. The only thing I hate about forza is the lack of the in car view. What a bummer in a sim game. Huge mistake in my opinion.

Seriously, I will say that both GT and Forza have have drivers praise their respective physics, so I can't rely too heavily on that as a gauge. I can personally admit that I've never taken my own car and raced it on the same track and tires as it's GT4 brother, but I trust those that say they have and I'm glad that the times match up at that level.

In the end, it's my opinion that GT sets the bar and Forza is the contender, but opinions are like assholes so... :)

A 9.5 or 10 would be pathetically low on Famitsu's scorecard. I expect them to give GT5 the full 40 or close to even if it lacks and/or has inferior features than other racers (damage, online system) purely because it's Japanese.

GT5 will be a great game but it won't lead on all fronts.

If memory serves me correctly, GT4 Prologue received 8/8/8/8 (32/40). I am a little surprised that GT5P did not get atleast the same or even a bit better. I know 1/40 is splitting hairs, but I also believe expectations for this release are much higher. In my opinion, a demo should not cost $40. I know it is "like" a full game, but in reality once the actual game launches it will cost a total of $100 when you factor in the demo. I would like to see Prologue come with a coupon for atleast $20 off the full game when it ships, but that is another topic altogether. Everyone knew Prologue would not get the 39/40 that was falsely reported last month, because if it did their would be no point of releasing the finished game. 31/40 is more than fair and probably generous given the limited content available.
