The Two Juliets Reveal the Absurdity of Cross-Pacific Commutes

Lollipop Chainsaw has two image characters: Jessica Nigri for the West and Mayu Kawamoto for Japan. Kawamoto is a black belt in karate, but Nigri has, I guess, a black belt in revealing cosplay.

This weekend in Tokyo geek district Akihabara, both Juliets appeared alongside game designer Goichi Suda to promote the title and pose for pictures. Silly pictures.

You'd think two image characters were created so one of them didn't have to travel across the Pacific to appear at events. You'd think.

Its really absurd how this game praticly only got attention because of the cosplayers i bet the game is nothing special.

soundslike4398d ago

I guess you've never heard of Suda51 or Akira Yamaoka

FinaLXiii4398d ago

What that´s even suppossed to mean?

Summons754398d ago

I'm looking forward to this game and Suda is awesome but Shadows of the Damned was absolutely TERRIBLE and it took a lot of convincing for me to be interested in this game

Blacktric4398d ago

"What that´s even suppossed to mean?"

A pity to hear this from someone whose avatar is the picture of a character from a Japanese game...

STONEY44398d ago

Suda51 - Killer7, No More Heroes, Shadows of the Damned. His games have pretty cool and unique gameplay ideas, humor, and tons of style.

Akita Yamoaka - Silent Hill 1-4 composer and sound director. His music is amazing. IMO Silent Hill 3 has one of the best soundtracks in gaming.

<i bet the game is nothing special.>

To be fair, the same can be said for a vast majority of PS360 games. Exclusives too.

Hicken4398d ago

Your two comments reveal why you feel the way you do: you don't know anything about the game.

YOU heard about it because of the cosplayers. The rest of us first got interested because Suda51 was involved.

It's really absurd how one person's experience or opinion practically becomes that of everyone else in the world.

Fatty4398d ago

I think Jessica's hot, but she doesn't do it for me as Juliet. It's in the eyes... ah well.

ATi_Elite4398d ago

I've seen some super duper HOT Japanese cosplayers but Mayu Kawamoto isn't getting the "Wet Nap" treatment that Jessica Nigri is providing!!

Jessica also looks more athletic than Mayu and after being around cheerleaders from my Football days Jessica just fits the part better.

Jessica Nigri = two Wet Naps and a thumbs up!!

Mayu kawamoto = Cute but no cheerleader vibe.

Fatty4398d ago

lol, gross imagery there. No, I think Jessica pulls it off better than Ms. Kawamoto, but I still don't think she's the perfect Juliet representative... still hot though.

Pozzle4398d ago

The irony is that Mayu Kawamoto is a professional black belt in karate, while Jessica Nigri (even though she is obviously fit) doesn't seem to be a pro in any sport.

Numbers 6-9 were some of my absolute favorite early gen PS3 games. I'm still bitter about Incognito and Japan Studio.

Goodguy015d ago

The white knight chronicles and infamous games really need to come to modern platforms. MAG I really miss...poor zipper. The ps3 was definitely a unique console despite it being the worst home console of PlayStation.

i wonder if they looked into what a remake would cost and went "NOPE Remaster it is" haha

FreeckyCake235d ago

It probably has to do with what the producer had mentioned recently. The thing about not wanting to change the essence of the original (e.g censorship). So maybe remastering the game was the best choice.

CrimsonWing69235d ago

The link to the story didn’t really answer the question. It makes no sense that you have to censor a remake and not a remaster.

What I got from that article is licensed music forced them to change to a Remake(?) and that they’re working hard with the platform holders to negotiate not censoring, which Sony is stupid about.

My question is, how would a Remaster not have to go through censorship?

I’ve seen dialogue changed in FF7 and Baten Kaitos. Then you have actual cutscenes being removed like in the dmc remaster.

I assume the same could be done to this game.

FreeckyCake235d ago

No idea. That's why I said " maybe ".

CrimsonWing69235d ago

Bull sh*t, you show me where fans wanted a Remaster instead of a Remake. I was more onboard with a Remake, I’m less excited just playing the same game I did before but now with sharper textures and better framerate.

ModsDoBetter235d ago

Probably realised this won't do the numbers so didn't want to invest.

No harm, I love Lollipop Chainsaw but it's a bit of a niche title.

gold_drake235d ago

yeh it was super niche even bk then

LoveSpuds234d ago (Edited 234d ago )

Loved it back in the day and have my copy sat on the shelf and ypu are right, it was super niche, which is why my copy is increasing in value slowly but surely. Hoping a remaster doesn't tank the value of my PS3 copy

....and that's a bad thing how?

343_Guilty_Spark310d ago

If it ain’t on Sony box it’s bad

autobotdan310d ago (Edited 310d ago )

Ninja Gaiden 2 was never multiplat. NG Sigma 2 is a remixed game not the same game at all

darthv72310d ago

Dante's inferno... such a great GoW inspired game. So sad the sequel was canned, it sounded like it was going to be even more epic than the first.

Vits310d ago

Yeap, classic GoW is still better mechanically. But the aesthetics and atmosphere of Dante's Inferno were just top-notch. Shame it never got a PC port, but at the very least is available on modern Xbox.

Juiceid310d ago

This list is ok, but Ninja Gaiden reigns supreme!

GhostScholar310d ago

I just can’t get into the devil may cry series. In my opinion you never feel powerful in those games. The guns are pointless as they only serve to be a flashy part of a combo. DMC was the only one that I could tolerate long enough to beat.
