1UP: Kojima Says Wait a Few More Weeks For Big Reveal

1UP writes: "At the Spike TV Video Game Awards this past weekend, we had a brief moment to speak with Hideo Kojima as he walked down the red carpet. Obviously, the big thing on our minds was the next Metal Gear game that he recently teased. Not surprisingly, he didn't reveal anything new at all, but he did say that it's just a matter of weeks until we find out what it is. Given the timing -- a few weeks happens to be around the start of the new year -- this could indicate some sort of exclusivity window has expired on Metal Gear Solid 4, meaning an Xbox 360 version could then be announced (which was one of the common assumptions from the tease, given that its letters were all green). Hey PS3 owners, go check out the power button on your PS3. It's the same symbol and when powered up, the light changes from red to green.

My PC has the same symbol. Many other hardware products have the SAME SYMBOL.

The most logical explanation for that teaser is a new AC!D game for the iPhone or the DSi. Hence the "i"s and "!". The power button... not sure why people are thinking so much about that. It's the universal icon for power. The green, however, may just be a color ;)

I think its abit unlikely that its a 360 version of the game, but look what happened with FFXIII! that hit us out of the blue. i'd say its a new portable game or trophies or something. if mgs goes multiplat (which i doubt it will) i think they would announce it at GDC or any other upcoming games event.

Calling 1up fanboys based on their speculation is a bit extreme. MGS4 going to 360 would be far bigger news than a new acid so its natural for them to speculate on that first and fanboyism aside MGS4 is by far the most coveted PS3 game. You can call it a movie from now till the end of time but no other PS3 game makes 360 owners jealous like MGS4.

I think the DSi iphone thing and it going to 360 are about 50/50...both make sense. If it happens though expect an announcement possible at GDC an announcement like that would be big for microsoft and expect them to do everything they can to draw as much attention to this as possible.

MGS4 coming to xbox wouldnt matter to me personally...I stopped playing MGS after 2 because of the short gameplay and no replay value..It took me about 10 hours to beat each of the first two games which was the reason why I did not get MGS3 and had no interest in 4, For me..it wouldnt matter....

Only game that mattered to me was FFXIII coming to xbox, that game was the only reason I would get a ps3 and since its not exclusive, I dont have to buy the ps3 anymore...But after seeing the Versus Trailer, that might change my mind...

Konami Confirms iPhone Metal Gear

The rumour looked pretty solid, but confirmation is always swell. The next Metal Gear game will indeed be on the iPhone, and it's called Metal Gear Solid Touch.

What's more, courtesy of Konami we now have some details on the game. It's an original title set in the MGS4 universe, and consists of 8 stages (with the promise of more to be made available later). It's obviously controlled via the touchpad (as opposed to the accelerometer), with a sniping screenshot looking a lot like the iPhone's zoom-in text editing setup.

MGS obsessives will be well catered for, with bonus points accrued through gameplay able to be traded in to unlock stuff like Metal Gear iPhone wallpapers.

It's due for a worldwide release in Spring 2009.

It's the iPhone version coming. That said, I always felt it wasn't coming to the 360 soley based on the timing of the announcement. I mean MS would want to keep this under wraps until GDC or E3. There is no way they want this to come out now. It just lacks the impact that MS goes for with these kind of announcements.

It still might come to the 360, but that announcement wouldnt come until at minimum GDC 2009.

Why do I say that? Because the Iphone version was just revealed. So thats not it. I think the fact that they do not want to kill the remaining christmas sales on PS3 and the 6 month exclusive deal (if there is one) would be the reason for waiting a few weeks. Also maybe it will be at a show like CES to get more hype? Nah to long a wait.
