Teens kill 7-year-old girl by using Mortal Kombat moves

In Jamestown, Colorado, two teens have been charged with killing a 7-year-old girl by beating her with imitations of moves from the Mortal Kombat video games, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Completely true. MK could have looked rather realistic back in 1993 but now, not only MK games no longer realistic, they have put more focus on unrealistic aspects, the things that are mentioned in that article have nothing to do with MK.

First, where did the kids play Mortal Kombat? We don't know.

Second, where did the kids get the beer? Did the boyfriend bring it? Did the dead girl's mother even know he was there? Did HIS parents know he was there?

Just because blaming the parents is a very easy excuse for those too intellectually lazy to wait for the FACTS does not mean that that is the primary cause behind this tragedy.

The only thing we know for certain at this point is that two teens brutally killed a 7-year old girl.

I worked as a Family Teacher for Maryville Academy in Des Plaines, Illinois. Maryville was the primary recipient for children rescued by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) [ http://www.state.il.us/dcfs... ].

The children who resided in the home/dorm where I worked came from the very worst conditions. On top of all else these kids were either sexually abused or sexual abusers. Some were both.

One kid had lived in a closet for five years while his uncle, the court-appointed gaurdian, used him for his own sexual pleasures.

He lived in the dark, with a bucket to relieve himself in, and a pile of rags to sleep on.

To say he was messed up when we got him was, is, a painfully ridiculous understatement. Was he a "bad" kid, or a "violent" one? No, he was not. Troubled deeply yes, but he had a good and kind spirit that rose above his horrific past environment and experience.

I could go on and on with story after story with many even worse than the one above.

My experience, and research, leads me to firmly believe that genetics are far more responsible for 'good' or 'bad' than 'upbringing' could ever claim responsibility for.

As I stated in an earlier post: I've seen great people rise from the worst of conditions and absolute monsters come from the best. "Conditions" certainly could not be blamed in these cases.

"Responsibility of Self" needs to be the primary party of guilt in this case. Not, some hypothetical "bad upbringing" or education.

I can also tell you that I was the oldest of seven adopted children. My brother and sisters were all brought up in the same, great, loving home. All of us are as different as night and day.

My adopted brother, who was a year younger than me, died ten years ago, alone in his apartment, of alcoholism. An alcohol-induced ulcer in his esophagus ruptured and he bled to death as he tried to crawl across the floor to reach the phone.

I loved him---he was my brother---but he led a life of trouble with the law and self-abuse.

One last thing. I raise and breed dogs. ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about dog breeding knows that 'temperment' is an inheritable trait. It's a fact of genetics. Who can honestly say the same does not hold true for humans? The sad fact is that even with the best breeding, sometimes a 'bad dog' comes through.

Drinking is great. It loosens you up, it calms your nerves, it makes regular social situations more fun. If you don't know this as a fact, then you haven't been a drinker.

Just like kids who do stupid things while playing video games, there are people who give drinking a bad rap. Drinking has solved problems in my life, believe it or not. I used to be painfully shy, and drinking gave me the confidence to say what I want, when I want (even when not drinking). When I was diagnosed with cancer (not even remotely cancer related), I was extremely stressed out, and it was only after I had a beer did I relax.

BIGBAER you are totally right about people being born evil and how they were brought up doesn't always matter in how people turn out.
