Why doesn't it tell us anything about Gears 2 >_<

jwatt5915d ago

AW I thought they were going to show gameplay footage since they had pics of it.

pharmd5915d ago

yeah, they might wanna get rollin on that if they're gonna have it out in november, i expected somethin sweet

rofldings5915d ago

Played the first one on PC, I enjoyed it. I'll play this as well then. :)

wow4u5915d ago

to 1.2:

I'm sure they're already working on it... they just wanted to show the programmers what the engine does... its not a game players conference you know :)

Lifendz5914d ago

love the animation. Hopefully they do a better job with the story this time. And I'd like a few instances where you face more than like four guys at a time. Just to switch things up a bit. Can't wait for this one. Hopefully MS allows my roommates "order" to go through on his 360 repair.

JBaby3435914d ago

The first one had a story? I don't remember any story to it. I do agree though that the second needs more enemies at a time because I got kind of bored with the first especially since they basically all came straight at you. Graphically though it remains one of the best. Lets hope the second surpasses the original's graphics.

I guess, doesn't show anything at all, well except that it will be out in Nov '08, which is awesome. IMO, this will be the biggest game of '08, it will get the kind of coverage that H3 got, it will be everywhere.

hades075914d ago

I have a feeling this teaser tells us more than we think.

1. You hear Dom saying "if anything happens to me find maria." Could this be the story to this game, Dom gets killed or injured, and you have to find Maria, at least for part of the game, to tell her what happened.

2. Knowing Epic, instead of killing dom he'll probably be turned into some kind of locust soldier or something, like everyone expects the Locusts queen is not a locusts at all. That would be a sweet final boss, fighting dom after playing him in the first game.

3. The chainsaw. Maybe locusts can now block the chainsaw, instigating some kind of mini game like RE4 where you have to press the right buttons and you push them away and chainsaw them in the back. That would definately be sweet and intense if you can still die from other locusts while the minigame is taking place, like you have to do it as quick as possible to limit your chance of dying.

Alcohog5914d ago

God, I hope not.

<---Does not want Gears of War 2 Mountain Dew. But then you're probably just the kind of sucker to buy something like that.

zornik5915d ago

Thats what they call a teaser!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cherrypie5914d ago

Yes. Take Marketing 101, Section 1.5B: Leave them Wanting More.

This is marketing relax.

superman5915d ago

The biggest game of 08 is MGS 4. But I still cant wait for this game. Gears of war fist game i played on xbox 360.

kewlkat0075915d ago (Edited 5915d ago )

I did toss it aside for 2 months and such...Ya know there are certain games you never forget when you first get a console. Gears of War was one of them, welcome to next-gen BAM!!!I remember Jet Set Radio:Future was the first game for my Original Xbox.

Wish they bring that back..

I think the biggest games in 2008, will be

MGS4
Gears of War 2
GTA4

Gears deadsmack in the middle of some stiff franchises, well SSB for wii, will be up there as well. I'll never forget this music, next-Gen started for me.

socomnick5915d ago

While mgs 4 is cool it cant compete with gears it would get slaughtered in sales if it came out around the same time.

jwatt5915d ago

Yea I liked gears even though my friend liked it alot more than me. I just felt it had too many glitches but the graphics was still top notch.

I think my top games will be Mgs4, GTA4 and then GeoW and Resistance2.

kewlkat0075915d ago (Edited 5915d ago )

MGS4 is a game that is liked in all reagions..NA/Euro/JAP?

I just can't say the same for shooters, that is why I think, that game might appeal to a variety.

GTA4 is one of those sandbox games that will sell no matter, looking at past sales.

Unless your talking about NA only. We all know Japanese gamers are not going to jump for joy for Gears of War and GTA4.

jackdoe5915d ago

Biggest games will be MGS4, GeoW 2, GTAIV, and SSBB(sold a million in Japan alone!).

wow4u5915d ago

I think you'll find that you will be correct.

GTAIV will probably sell the most, then madden and a couple other sports games, but Gears of War 2 will almost certainly out-sell MGS4.

cherrypie5914d ago

You're going to be really surprised about how well Gears of War does. MGS4 is going to have a run for its money...

Man, i said i was not going to buy another xbox 360 but damn. I loved the first Gears! Ms had better put a stop to RROD. It got me once, so come Jun (Gaiden) or Nov everything hopefully will be in order. I will be pissed if i have to miss out on account of 360's still RROD.

masterg5915d ago

Yeah Gears is the best of the 360.
If it wasn't that single game I would gladly pack up my 360 and stick only to my PS3. But Gears is still the best next-gen game if you ask me.

Great teaser. Reminds me of Sin City.
But game play would have been nice.

TimeShift - FPS Game Standing the Test of Time

TimeShift had a fairly muted launch in 2007, and while it doesn't rewrite the FPS rulebook it does offer an enjoyable campaign even now.

gurp3h ago

I played this on PC when it came out, it was actually good

Astrokis1h ago

Same! For its time I liked it a lot

CantThinkOfAUsername35m ago

Never heard of this game until someone mentioned it here last year. Played it and it basically represents most games from the PS3/Xbox360 era—good graphics, amazing physics, and extremely fun gameplay (time powers rock), but barely any story, weird pacing, and at least one annoying AF level. I finished Prototype last week and the same applies, except Strike Teams. Fuck Strike Teams.

Pacific Rim Pinball comes to Pinball FX

This could be fun as they make great tables. Go big or go extinct. Prime your senses for a neural handshake and step into the cockpit of a Jaeger. It is on you to cancel the apocalypse when Pacific Rim Pinball comes to Pinball FX on May 16.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies6d ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken5d ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing696d ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker6d ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing696d ago (Edited 6d ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt5d ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken5d ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.
