I guess Bioware really is pushing it to the max. Awesome. I can't wait for Mass Effect 2! All the more reason I'm going to buy it. You got to look at this as a positive thing. See, ME2 is still in development, more or less. This isn't something to worry about. If anyone is worried about this, I think it's safe to say that you don't own an Xbox 360. But a different console instead. Anyways, Bioware rules!

ownallconsoles5370d ago (Edited 5370d ago )

This is why there is no Xbox 360 slim. Before you can make components smaller, the originals have to work first. I definitely believe in the high defective 360 rate.

Guido5370d ago

In other news:

The new PS3 Slim plays GT5 like a champ.

And for those like Sanzee here, it's not the game pushing the hardware, it's just lousy hardware. The 360 is still a weak console in terms of hardware and is in need of a complete overhaul.

Microsoft Xbox 3605370d ago

Sanzee passed it off as a positive thing. LOL.

killersmoke5370d ago (Edited 5370d ago )

It was a xbox on the demo floor// love how u girls spin your news....

Rampant5370d ago

Why are ps3fanboys always this stupid? Scrolling through previous news stories (There are only a few of them) I find:

Another reason why I'll never buy an Xbox360
Gears of War on PS3, why not?
Mass Effect 2 demo is overheating xboxes

You were never taught to check sources? The text in the article doesn't even pop up for me, it's just a headline.

theEnemy5370d ago

chorus:
And the world keeps spinning round
my world's upside down and i wouldn't change a thing
I've got nothing else to lose
I lost it all when i found you and i wouldn't change a thing
you and i wouldn't change a thing

Spinning Turning
Watching Burning
all my life has found it's meaning
walking crawling climbing falling
all my life has found its meaning

repeat chorus

ultimolu5370d ago

No...it's a result of a poorly made system. :/

Mass Effect 2 will most likely be an amazing game but...seriously that is not good.

AJKanismajoris5370d ago

it's funny coz i keep seeing these xbox fanboys going on about how sony sucks when they can't see the blatant problems with the xbox 360

p.s i'm not saying you are a fanboy i'm just saying it in general

Defectiv3_Detectiv35370d ago (Edited 5370d ago )

So, a 360 is overheating at a game convention - big shocker there. That's what happens when you leave one on for hours straight in a plastic case w/ no air ventilation.

I'm not surprised it was Mass Effect though, for some reason Oblivion always gave my 360 a hard time until it ended up crashing it...Bioware is just too good at making games.

Tony wrote: "So, a 360 is overheating at a game convention - big shocker there. That's what happens when you leave one on for hours straight in a plastic case w/ no air ventilation."

Ya know... I'd buy that argument / explanation if this was the FIRST time this occured. Sure... they didn't know better... bad judgement... they'll correct that next time...

BUT, it absolutely isn't the first time. There have been several of these stories about Xbox's crapping out in this type of scenario.

Are you saying that the people giving these demos are just that stupid NOT to know that they shouldn't "leave one on for hours straight in a plastic case w/ no air ventilation."

Maybe you're right... but damn. You'd think they would have figured that out by now.

LONEWOLF2315370d ago

Wasnt there a similar article awhile back??
PS3s were dying in showroom floors.Mainly cause they were in glass cases. See i dont know in what condition this 360 was or where it was placed BUT these glass enclosures are never a good thing. So this might be the case.

Game13a13y5370d ago

was that smoke coming out of the motherboard?

Panthers5370d ago

Bioware is awesome. Too bad they decide to work with a crappy piece of hardware. Still, Star Wars TOR will be amazing. Cant wait!

aaron58295370d ago

Thats why "they" are ahead of Sony in terms of sales...

People buy a new console everytime their console burnt. It will only benefit "them"

I never understood why.

powerfulally5370d ago

I know what temps are in my computer and know how to make it cooler. I know what my system can run... the list can go on. The 360 is a poor made little p.c If you look at it.

All-35370d ago

If you were actually informed - you'd know it's not the components/hardware that is the cause of the issues... it's the way it is designed into the case that's the root cause.

If Microsoft did redesign and release a Xbox 360 slim - they'd probably be better off. That way proper heat sinks and what sits on top of what could be addressed.

sarcasmic5370d ago

I'm playing Mass Effect for the first time and LOVING it! Cant wait for ME2.

Godmars2905370d ago

If there's never a 360 slim, it'll be because the HDD restricts redesign options. MS would have to redesign it as well, and that would still cause issues with people replacing their old 360s.

peeps5370d ago

interesting spin.

hardware should be able to be used to it's full potential without it overheating lol

NaViTo5370d ago

This is absolutly hilarious! Now I understand why it's never gonna be a XBOX360 Slim... poor hardware FTW

Odin7775370d ago

Good comment, mate! PUSH IT TO THE MAX! YEAAAH!

Jinxstar5370d ago (Edited 5370d ago )

Or you could play it on PC... Cheaper... Without the overheating and all that... Might just be me though...

JYstiq8085369d ago

I guess Bioware really is pushing it to the max. Awesome. I can't wait for Mass Effect 2! All the more reason I'm going to buy it. You got to look at this as a positive thing. See..

I started laughing right there..

Thanks.

starvinbull5369d ago (Edited 5369d ago )

sanzee should work for M$. If he doesn't already that is.

Lucreto5370d ago (Edited 5370d ago )

I never heard of anything like this happening before.

This game will be truely excellent as it is even too hot for the 360 to handle. I think I will get the PC version just in case.

Bioware must be pushing the machine to the max.

Sanzee5370d ago

I agree man. Mass Effect 2 will truly deliver.

DelbertGrady5370d ago

Reading their twitter it sounds more likely that it was the 360 in their demo kiosk that overheated, not that ME2 itself makes 360's overheat.

Guido5370d ago

If the only game that was in the 360 was ME2, then it is safe to say that ME2 helped overheat the console since the console will only overheat under load.

*waits for next excuse*

solidt125370d ago

Im gonna check and make sure my warranty is still good before i play Mass Effect 2. lol

AllSystemsRocks5370d ago

Guido you sound just like your picture !

starvinbull5369d ago

You think his picture is making a sound?

BattleAxe5369d ago

Of course he thinks the picture makes a sound, most Xbox 360 owners think that the noise they hear from the cooling fan is a sound effect in most of the games...

killersmoke5369d ago

YO, your pic, if it is you, makes you look like the biggest wanna be ever in existence.

I just want to slap your face, you have one of those, I'm of the most fake a$$ wanna b's alive. Take ur f---ing head band off and rap it around your nick and hang it from the ceiling

coming from your comments, it is confirmed, super douche bag.

Bioware bring it to ps3 it won't overheat!!

NaiNaiNai5370d ago (Edited 5370d ago )

why you guys already said you don't want it.

(below)
I find it funny as hell that ps3 fanboys really thought it was less then 1% fail rate. XD funny part is that 11% is still growing.

The_Beast5370d ago

MS doesnt own bio, nor do they have a contract...

where's mart at? the god of spining.. he tried to convince people that a 54% failure rate is better then 11%...

Enate5370d ago

That's funny because the only game from 360 I remember saying I wanted was Mass Effect. Which thanks to my new 3 weeks old PC I've played it going on 4 times an enjoyed it thoroughly.

ShadowCK5370d ago

Wouldn't be a problem if they downloaded it on the hard drive. >_>

commodore645370d ago (Edited 5370d ago )

it won't overheat on ps3?

glad to hear it.
another reason to own a ps3!

but.... are you certain it won't have the infamous:
-ps3 vaseline effect
-ps3 reduced textures
-ps3 reduced resolution
-ps3 framerate problems
-ps3 screen tear
-ps3 required install
-ps3 slower loading times?

.... another seven confirmed reasons to not own a ps3.

kaz-hirai5370d ago

i got one reason not to own a 360:

RROD ;-D

N4G king5370d ago

loooooool

kaz just owned some @ss

HAHAHAHAH

Dimitri5370d ago

Thats what you get for 200 bucks.

I always said, the 360 is a cheap piece of sh1t.

50CALheadshot5370d ago

that is soo funny.

stupid ass muhfuc1n microbots.....get the vaseline, all you xbots are going to get raped for the rest of this gen

Anon19745370d ago (Edited 5370d ago )

It's funny because everything he described only affects a handful of games.
Overheating 360's affect 100% of 360 owners, with 54% of 360's needing to go in for repairs, and then over 40% needing repairs again.
So, blurred textures on maybe 1 in 30 mulitplats that doesn't affect gameplay one bit, or a half and half chance your console is going to die causing you to go without your system for a month if not longer, almost the same chance it'll happen again and no guarantee that it won't cost you $170 bucks for repair depending on how old your warranty is while you're also paying subscription fees to play the games as developers intended them to be played, online?

I don't know. Tough call....

blackbeld5369d ago

Mass effect 2 demo is overheating Xboxes!! Hahahaha.... This is EPIC!!!! Sad for 360 owners....

kagon015369d ago

It seems the xbox360 is at its limits. This game needs to be downgraded with crappy graphics fast before the RROD becomes officially 100%. Unless the bots want to change diapers(360s), OOPS! my mistake they already do...

Chubear5369d ago

EA loaded this thing up on the PS3 and it just chewed it up but putting it on the 360 made it suck wind... hard. I seem to remember this happening with the first ME too. Wait let go check on some old footage.

Totally lost it and fell off my chair at work when the game froze from the 360 over heating and the ME presenter said something along the lines of ".. oh my, I guess it's running a bit hot"

KRUSSIDULL5370d ago

Think they have to get some better ventilation over at GamesCom. Dont wanna be in there when someone farts.

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan26d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
