Flamebait to the fullest. First off I like to say this. When dealing with electronics, you must give devices room for air. When I first started going on message boards. People were had little contest showing pictures of their "home entertainment" setups. I noticed something almost related to all systems, no room for consoles to have adequate air. People had PS3's, 360's, Audio Receivers stacked into small places, piled on to each other & stuff on top of everything. What in God's name do you expect?!! No air= hot electronic product. That's just common sense. Now, back to the 360, I have my powerbrick sitting on a cardboard box on the floor. Not only that I have my PS3, 360 & Wii sitting low also. Beside my systems I have an Onkyo Receiver & HD-DVR cable box. Since heat rises and cold air lingers below on floors, that is the reason why I have my electronics set low on my entertainment stand. I know people who were careless with electronics and appliances that have started home fires. If I carelessly did not follow instructions of a electrical piece of equipment written in the manual, do I blame the manufacture or myself?! Right is right and wrong is wrong. If this happend to be a PS3 or a Wii, I still say the same thing.

First off I own a PS3, 360, and 7.1 reciever in my house and I have all them in my tv stand which has glass door on the front. Sometime I forget to let the glass doors open and my PS3 fan will kick in to high gear but it still going strong after a year and 4 months. The 360 on the other hand I had to replace 4 of them because failures and 2 were from the RROD so if I do turn my 360 on now it requires a big fan blowing right at it with the glass door open. The fact is the 360 was poorly designed and why should I or any other person who spent hundreds $ on entertainment centers be force to have a electronic device laying on top of my entertainment system where any of my two kids can grab them just because of its poorly design.

if i place my PC in a place where it gets hot enough to burn, guess what? it turns itself off LONG before it catches fire. And I'm pretty sure the PS3 with its internal power supply has heat warnings(thats where we get that video of the kid overheating his system to blow it out). Face it, the 360 is kinda like the pinto of consoles. A lot of people like(ed) them for whatever reason, but they're not too reliable and sometimes burst into flames.

Guess what, this news piece just said that a "360 was the blame for a fire". This story gave no details about nothing. I know how news media live for stories to bring in ratings. I known people on the street who had crimes committed to them (some were murder) and the media blew sh*t-up to another direction away from the truth. So,do not sit here just cause you do not like the 360 brand an be gullible to the media. And all electronic devices "do not" have shut off switches. This right here stretches beyond your personal favor for the PS3 or 360. It about using common sense. And alot of people in this world just don't use that. When something goes wrong (and they had some responsibility of avoiding a accident) they're quick fast to blame the next man and run to an Attorney for a lawsuit. Take responsibly for self. As long as you do your part, then you take other steps.

So I see a lot "insert not so kind words for 360" and I suppose to some extent ok fine, but seriously, what the hell. It was a faulty power supply that had nothing to do with the actual 360 unit. Now if the 360 itself somehow started the fire, then sure, but it's the stupid PS. All I see is everyone coming on this happy board and spouting *insert more words* when it was probable some resistor made in china that happened to malfunction and then, fire.

I'm not saying saying the heating issues are irrelevant but holy hell, to see people just see one specific(and sad story) and suddenly claim their system is superior make me weep for the coming generation.

Dell and Sony have had to recall batches of their power packs for their laptops due to this same problem. I infact had to return my dell laptop power pack and im just thankful that my family did not come to any harm.

my heart goes out to this family and i hope that it is well publisised so that anyone that has not returned their faulty pack do so.

Funny I wonder why they didn’t cover the fire that killed two fire fighters here that was started by a common Oscillating fan. Apparently that happens quite frequently and fans are far more prevalent in houses then game machines.

Oh and I don't recall the Dell battery fires making Fox News either, but that was a while ago so I guess I could have missed it.

Its funny what they pick and choose, thousands of fires a year caused by all kinds malfunctions of everyday gear and the only one they report on is the game machine.
