Homophobic hackers take down Gay Gamer.net

Kotaku reports that Gay Gamer.net, a gay gaming news site, was attacked by hate speech, threatening emails, and denial of service attacks, eventually taking the site down. Kotaku's own weekend editor Flynn De Marco is the owner of Gay Gamer. He says that the denial of service attacks started Wednesday, and the web host was able to block the IP addresses of the attackers by that Friday, but that evening someone began posting hate messages, over sized images, and even death threats to the site's forums and chat room.

I think it's cool to have a gaymer site. Gay people generally like to socialize with other gays. I see black people hanging out with black people, I see people from India in groups together. It gives a sense of community I guess.

Imagine the flamefest if a "White Gamer" website ever came out? I don't think anyone would like the "White/Caucasian community" to be exclusive to whites. Which is hypocrisy, and therefore IMO no such congregation should ever be made (regarding religion, race, sexual preference, and so on).

People want to be around others who are somewhat similar, to be around those they're more comfortable with. Jocks, goths, skaters, pot smokers, different ethnic groups, different religious groups, they're all just examples of flocking.

I do admit i'm not really a fan of gay pride. I don't get all dressed up and go to gay bars except on rare occasions. I like all kinds of people, but it's nice to hang out and game with other gay people who aren't going to call everyone f@gs and say "that's gay" all the time.

What's that got to do with anything? We're talking about an online website where no one can see anyone - and they are talking about games, and not being gay... the discourse produced from a gay mans hands is generally very similar to those produced by a straight mans hand - so you would not notice if there was a straight man talking on gaygamers - hence the whole gaygamers site seems slightly irrelevant.

"flocking" as you call it - makes much more sense in the real world.

Gay people like to be showy. They have their own clubs, pride festivals, social groups, including online gaming. There's even gay alcohol anonymous groups and what not, gay directories with gay friendly businesses. I admit i'm not much into those sorts of things, however coming from the gay community, I can see where they like to form their own groups.

Generally gay people like to do things that stand out, probably because they want acceptance. Some places being gay isn't protected like ethnicity, gender, and religion. Gay people don't have many of the same rights.

As for clubs, gatherings, and what not, i don't usually participate like many of my fellow GLBT "family" I stated this because I want people to know that I don't have to game with other gay people, i don't have to do things other gay people do, and always hang out with other gay people. THAT is my point.

EDIT: If they want a site, they can have a site. It's nobody's business to ruin it. It's not wrong to separate if it's something they want to do, let them do it.

You can't "think" something is unnatural. It's not a matter of your opinion. Natural is something that occurs in nature, not something you think is natural. You can only watch nature and see for yourself what's natural, you can't proclaim something natural or unnatural based on your thoughts and opinions.

Homosexuality is perfectly natural in mammals, so humans as well. Do some research. Dolphins, for an example, have sex with their male friends when they're young, before they start having sex with females.

There are millions of stars in the universe for every grain of sand on Earth. Now, how can anything be unnatural in a Universe that large. It would be perfectly natural for us to kill eachother. But that's not morally acceptable in our society. You can have your opinion on what's right or wrong, moral or immoral, but not on what's natural or unnatural, because everything that happens is natural. Since if it were unnatural, it wouldn't happen in the first place, or even if it somehow managed to happen, Universe would probably cease to exist.

And, about moral issues of homosexuality...I don't see why would it be wrong, no one is forcing sex to another in that case. It's not a rape, like pedophilia. Ancient Greeks were a society that favored homosexual behaviour and they were a very advanced civilization. It is a pillar of all our western civilizations. So it's not like killing eachother. It doesn't stop humans from advancing. Quite the opposite, IMHO. Look at famous gays: Leonardo, Michelangelo, Shakespeare, Wilde, almost all the Greeks...
