Keighley: You've seen GOWIII, wait until you see what Sony has next

I don't want to wait Geoff! I want to know now goddamnit!!! >:(

deadreckoning6665173d ago (Edited 5173d ago )

Wow, something that surpasses GOW3 graphically must be total insanity. Can't wait!

talltony5173d ago

AGENT GTTV SPECIAL!

Or Last Guardian!

presto7175173d ago

Why do people still insist on living in denial?

God of war 3 is already looking like next gen stuff. And we're only 3 years in. 7 more to go. Hellz yeah

LarVanian5173d ago

I've heard that Insomniac have a game developed with a brand new engine that looks better than Killzone 2, it was shown in a darkroom during a community day from what I hear.
I am actually hoping this new game is Syphon Filter 5. I really want to see Gabe Logan back kicking ass in HD.

Udidntlistenpunk5173d ago

- 3d with motion control
- Dark Cloud
- Final Fantasy 7 remake

Man, it IS good to be a PS3 owner. They just keep raising and raising the bar while the competition is stuck in 2006.

Jamegohanssj55173d ago

Well damn Sony. Better be GTA Vice City

TGSI

hs1235173d ago

when does this episode go on air

young juice5173d ago

dont you mean syphon filter 4 since the last in the official ps1 series was syphon filter 3

your probably also just getting it mixed up with twisted metal 5

LarVanian5173d ago

@juice
Well to be honest it should technically be Syphon Filter 7 if we are to include the PSP installments.

Noctis Aftermath5173d ago

I hope the next video isn't exclusive, the loading time on the HD GoW3 footage was terrible, it took me over an hour to load a 21min video with an 8mb net connection.

Put it on youtube FFS.

Immortal3215173d ago

it's like that movie, she's out of my league. The ps3 truly redefine the word next generation.

it's all about games and the ps3 exclusive don't look like HD remake for last gen games, like that other console, no, the ps3 have games that literally takes you in.

Live in yours, play in ours. - ps2

BattleAxe5173d ago

Maybe its the next Syphon Filter game.

gaffyh5173d ago

I f***ing hate Geoff Keighley, he gets to see all these awesome games before us :(

hazbaz5173d ago

This is 4 min of what's been seen on GTTV GOW III (youtube HD) with music on the background.....better than nothing, I say. :)

KRUSSIDULL5173d ago (Edited 5173d ago )

Im really tempted to buy my own PS3 other than using my dads but I dont have afford and nor do I want to abandon my achievements on the 360.

keabrown795173d ago

ya it's great that sony exclusives are raising the bar.. i'm all for it.. however since there are like 10 multiplats to every exclusive and dev's keep tailoring them for 360 1st will this make a great impact?

Death24945173d ago

GDC'10 is launching in two weeks.

Death24945173d ago

Just like Final Fantasy 13 right? Oooo burn....and we're not talking about every game that comes out. We're talking about the best of the best graphically. Let's just face Sony own's that crown.

OmegaSlayer5173d ago

I expected it.
I'm totally excited but I expected it.
Sony always focuses on marketing few games at the same time, and the release of MAG, Heavy Rain and GOW3 is leaving 3 spots for 3 new game announces.
They will just announce/tease the stuff that won't be available before XMAS/early 2010, but I expect at least 2 new titles before E3, where will have a deeper look at one of those games and at least another tease plus a barrage of ARC stuff.

And with the new 70MB o RAM release, begin to expect every multi plat title to be better on PS3 just from this summer onward.

8thnightvolley5173d ago

sony's first party developers are elite dev in this gen... they are always outdoing each other in wow factor every few months..

FanboysWillHateMe5173d ago (Edited 5173d ago )

I don't think Rockstar North has made a bad game yet. In fact, I don't think they haven't made a game yet that hasn't been so highly and universally praised. III? Vice City? San Andreas? IV? All hugely successes, both critically and commercially.

Just thinking about what they can do without having to worry about storage limitations or ports gives me a boner.

sikbeta5173d ago

With the Amount of First Party Exclusives, we only can expect even More Awesomeness...

Gamers FTW!!!

mastiffchild5173d ago

While I know SFPS3 is being readied as we type I think anything Keighley has will be a reveal of something we already know about but haven't seen the latest of-prlly GT5(added head tracking,3D options, improved damage, day/night cycles, dynamic weather cycles etc, etc, etc as the possibilities for PD are pretty massive in scope!)or, possibly as it's due this year(they released Ico and SotC four years apart hence TI's "Olympic Team" nick at SCE)a fresh, breathtaking TLG trailer showing finished, or near to, character models for boy and creature alike!

Jaffe's game(TMPS3?), Insomniac with R3 AND the NC studios game(possible WRPG with Zelda leanings or whatever the rumours were!), Lightbox/Dylan Jobe's Warhawk follow up complete with SP campaign(could be the oft mooted "Starhawk" or THAT name could be for another game altogether judging by which story you put most faith in), any one from four(IIRC)supposed jrpg ,mash ups with other devs from Sony(Namco, Tecmo and a couple of others was it?)working together, SCE London/Cambridge/L'pool output, whatever Incog are up to post Warhawk and Jobe's departure(whatever happened to Hardware2?)or even some old IPs renewed from SCE Japan's past glories, no?

Seriously, trying to guess at what something as vague as ths COULD be is nigh on imnpossible and could even be news on the MMOs(The Agency, DC Universe, FR PS3 or even FF14)or God knows what given the number of projects we know of, suspect and have no clue about even though we know the studios MUST be working on something it's a tough call!

Interesting to see if this is another "megaton" let down frm GTTV and our wikkle Jeffwee or if it can ruffle feathers(hint, hint)like the GOW3 reveal of final build rightfully did. Hope for something stunning here, at GDC,E3 AND cologne with something saved to wow us at TGS too! As long as it's not all Arc we should have plenty of first/second party Sony goodness to follow very soon!

Saaking5173d ago

After UC2 I didn't think anything could top it... then Heavy Rain comes along.... and now GOWIII is gonna top Heavy Rain. Just thinking about something greater than GOWIII is mindblowing!

pain777pas5172d ago

David Jaffe has a game that he will probably be showing soon. I think he said in an interview that it would be around now that we would know more.

ico925172d ago

really becuase after the god of war 3 demo i don't think my mind could handle that much win.

menoyou5172d ago (Edited 5172d ago )

Even though I believe him in this case, Geoff still has no credibility after the VGA fiasco. Remember when he said the Halo: Reach trailer would blow everyone away while wearing his little Halo shirt and it would prove that it's GOTY? And then the trailer as shown and it wasn't that great?

Yea, let's stop giving hype creating paid exaggerators like Keighley any attention, please. They probably have some exclusive reveal on GameTrailers and that's why he's doing this.

ThanatosDMC5172d ago

I bet it's The Last Guardian.

rockleex5172d ago

The PSN crashes might be a hint.

siliticx5172d ago

And it shall be named BOOMStick. See what i did there?

RedPawn5172d ago (Edited 5172d ago )

I hope is Versus xiii news.

Yes I know it's a 3rd Party exclusive, but I can dream right.

morganfell5172d ago

Sony just keeps topping themselves. And they have to because the only title that can compete with a PS3 title is another PS3 title.

I can't frigging wait!

-Alpha5173d ago

Keighley is just plugging in GTTV and he's obviously going to try and make it sound huge.

I like keeping lowered expectations-- that way, if something big does happen it's much more of a surprise.

Al Bundy5173d ago

He did say it was from Sony so it will be huge. If it was just another unreal engine game then he wouldn't have been excited for it.

Immortal3215173d ago

the only way I can lower my expectation is by watching a multiplat game trailer.

-Alpha5173d ago

yeah, well regardless, he likes to plug his show a lot and he knows that God of War is the biggest phenomena for March. I'll just wait.

TOO PAWNED5172d ago

Agree with MALE22. I remember how he was hyping GOTY awards and we got bunch of mediocre teasers/trailers and crappy show overall. After that internet went "Yo momma" on him and he acted stupid.
He is just plugging his show, i bet it isn't even some Sony game, he is just using that to gather attention and from what i can see he is successful at it.
Don't get me wrong i hope it turns out to be something from Sony and awesome, but i will keep expectations low, he fooled me once.

GK ever lived up to his promises. Dude sells his soul for $$.

techie5173d ago

I wonder if he just means more God of War III footage on GTTV? Though the context does seem to suggest a new game from Sony's first party.

Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell Of Ar Ciel Retro Review – Love Conquers All

Gary Green said: You’ll be forgiven if you haven’t heard of the Ar Tonelico trilogy. The previous two games arrived so late in the PS2’s life-cycle that they simply went unnoticed. While most were tinkering with their shiny new PS3s, Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia and Ar Tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica were being ‘returned to sender’ by your local Game stores. Luckily, you won’t need to have played them to understand and appreciate this third and final chapter, Qoga (pronounced k-yoga) tells the story of a racial war between humans and Reyvateils, a breed of biologically produced female cyborgs capable of reproduction, while still having a digital mind.

Oh my god. I kinda wish this would get a remaster on PS5, it would be awesome. One of my favorite games on PS3.

That and 3D Dot Game Heroes. It's a shame that some stuff is stuck on PS3.

Knightofelemia1d 13h ago

Ar Tonelico 3 is good I still prefer the first AT game. The music is solid in all the games and Akiko Shikata is a very talented singer bringing life to the game. Only annoying part is well I find is Saki I always choose Finnel or Tyria. KOEI so needs to HD remaster the franchise along with Ar Nosurge and Ciel Nosurge since it never came to North America. I would day one the Ar Toneliceo games and Ar Nosurge if they were remastered.

TheColbertinator1d 12h ago

I still have the limited edition of Qoga unopened. Unfortunately it never went up in value like I had hoped all these years.

Used to own all these quirky JRPG on ps3 good times. Wish I would have kept them all

Mugen Souls Retro Review – Sexy Demon Space Adventure

Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies2d ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken2d ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing693d ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker3d ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing693d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt2d ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken2d ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.
