You obviously don't go to college either, me and my roommates have a Brawl party every week. Nothing in multiplayer is more fun than grabbing a smash ball and getting a triple kill.

Hell yes! RE4 is the scariest one in the franchise by far. I just can't take the Wii seriously though. Not enough games like this ^^.

There are enough casual games that outsold God of War 1 and 2 on the Ps2.

And its funny when Nintendo is trying to reach everyone they are after the "casual" gamers.
The things "hardcore" gamers demand for their games sound more casual than a casual gamer.

Casuals have been playing a big role in gaming for a long time. Look at the number of PS2 consoles sold and compare that to number of sales of the "hardcore" games that sold well.

It seems like when nintendo does some thing the PR for the other guys find a way to use name calling to make it look bad. Unfortunatly the online gamers respond to name calling more than actualy good games. It's just like it's more important to have voice chat than to have a better or fun game.

Hell I'm starting to wonder if you guys even play for fun any more. Trolling are being a fanboy is more important than gaming right now. It's hard to find true console gamers these days and it seems pc gaming has won by assuming the clothes of a console.

Where do you think nintendo got the idea of casual gaming. It was born on a ps console when they made gaming about looks only rather than fun.

Sony has succeeded in making the industry what it currently is which is one driven to be like pc games rather than extend what we loved about gaming. When Sony decides to leave no one will miss them it seems because Sony games are about more power and some generic high end style.

Ms is even worst they are not even trying any more it seems but behind the scenes stuff is being made. Yet I'm a little tired of what you guys call hardcore. We would call that pc gaming on a budget.

The funny thing is if nintendo all of a suddent remade all of their games darker then would you like that?

The glaring omission of Fire Emblem brings down this list to be honest, Fire Emblem is more hardcore than any of those games. If you can get through the whole game on the hardest difficulty without losing a single unit(except for plot reasons) then you're the epitome of hardcore. I know I can't do it.

why Madworld is number one. I guess being the bloodiest game automatically makes it the most "hardcore"? Really, the game just gets boring after a while, because it's too damn repetitive. Once the initial shock-factor wears off, you basically settle in for boredom.

Hardcore is basically a marketing term that excludes extremely challenging games like Mercury Meltdown Revolution. Any excessively violent title will be called hardcore no matter how easy, boring or short it is to the exclusion of actually difficult games.

Look at most RPGs. They're not hard at all...leveling rewards time invested so if you suck the game makes you better so you can win. But you have to play obsessively, kill stuff and it's long, so marketing calls it hardcore and people use the label to feel less embarrassed about playing video games.

The term is a subtle equivocation. They mean hardcore in content, violent or sexual, but then it also refers to the level of interest people have in video gaming by making some people feel like "real" gamers (aka he's a "real" punk). Most subcultures do this when their hobby becomes more mainstream, as the wii made video gaming.

Compare "I like real video games, not this casual crap. Nintendo sold out..." to "I like real punk, not this radio crap. Green Day sold out.."

Just check this madworld quote from the page. It shows that the author is a teenager (like most people who care about casual vs hardcore) and his motivation for playing video games.

were my favorites before I sold my Wii. TP is still one of my favorite games this gen simply because I'm a huge Zelda fan, and I clocked hundreds of hours into SSMB, so I enjoyed SSBB a lot.

How did he manage to play through TP in 13 hours on his first play-through. It took me around 40 hours to complete the game first time.

And Conduit wasn't the first FPS specially made for the Wii. Metroid Prime 3 was.

A better investment for the hardcore would be
PS3 + MGS and Uncharted 2 for the same price...

1. Wii games begin at 50 dollars, hence total cost is 350 on that assumption.

2. Most wii games drop in price much lower than HD console games. NMH, Madworld, RE4 all cost 20 now. So it's significantly less than 300 dollars for all these.

All of those games brand new come out to about $260, less than the PS3 slim by itself. These are all new prices, so you could easily get the total closer to $200 by purchasing used games or finding deals like Target's buy 2 Wii games, get one free.

Bikini Zombie Slayers is awesome. I got it at blockbuster for 10 dollars and it's the best purchase I ever made there. Way more fun on the wiimote than controller.

Smash Bros. Brawl pales in comparison to its predecessor, the reviews for The Conduit would make any consumer think twice before buying, Resident Evil 4 was 5 years ago, No More Heroes was trash, Zelda was pretty fun but not nearly as good as it was in the old days, and Madworld, well, that's probably pretty fun too but the black and white doesn't appeal to me. Oh forgot Dead Space Extraction. Anyone thinking about picking up a rail-shooter game should wait till Darkside Chronicles is released in 2 1/2 weeks to see which is better.

Dead Space Extraction is really quite amazing. I love it and had some great jumpy moments. What would really make DS:E worthwhile is if EA is setting up a port of the original Dead Space to the Wii...I haven't played the original and don't own a PS3 or 360 so I feel like I won't be able to get the full experience- although I suppose a 360/PS3 owner without a Wii or the desire to play a game on the Wii is at a similar (albeit less-so) disadvantage.

"Hardcore" and "Casual" is a stupid distinction. Movies and books are not divided up in this sense- they are simply meant for different audiences and we as consumers understand that and support the things we enjoy and that cater to us- we don't ridicule the younger viewer or reader who picks something to watch or read based on their preferences, comprehension, or cognitive abilities around which they make their decisions. I played Brawl, RE4, Twilight Princess, and No More Heroes. And the reasons to "hate on" Brawl, No More Heroes, and to a slightly lesser extent Zelda are definitely there. No More Heroes had the clunkiest gameplay and terrible graphics, Smash Bros. was slowed down to a snails pace and the online was a total letdown, Twilight Princess' environments were lifeless and barren, especially Kakariko Village, and the story wasn't as good as previous incarnations. RE4 owns, but it's not a Wii game. I've done my research on the others, thats why I don't own them, except for DS:E.

I find that the Wii has more games with a variety than what PS3 offers. Sure I have all the PS3 exclusives and fighting games but I find that most of the games mostly inolve shooting s*** up. I can jump from KZ2, MGS4, Uncharted1/2, SFIV to SSBB, Mario Kart Wii,and TCon with no problems.

Take games like Batman AA and Borderlands, bot pretty average but HD fanboys eat that s*** up like its the best games ever...

Ehm...hardcore games are more games that you play for weeks, months, even years. You go to tounaments compete in them, you play that stuff eight hours a day min to get better. None of these games on that list are anything hardcore. Gamingbolt, lol, these guys all try to cash up on the ad clicks.
