Doom 4 Coming To E3, Not To PS3?

From E3.net: "Doom 4 has quite a legacy to live up to. Doom certainly wasn't the first successful FPS, but it is definitely one of the most influential. Follow-ups Doom II: Hell on Earth and Doom 3, as well as 3's expansion pack Resurrection of Evil, only continued to satisfy fan expectations. With id Software co-founder and Doom's architect John Carmack on board, the coming fourth adventure in the series will hopefully be the best one yet."

Showing Xbox 360 and PC as platform.

Captain Tuttle5792d ago (Edited 5792d ago )

I predict much belittling of the Doom franchise in this thread.

Doom 3 sucked imo

MK_Red5792d ago

I'm definitly with you on Doom 3. It was an insult IMO. Doom 1 and 2 were legends and while Doom 3 wasn't horrible, it wasn't what Doom is meant to be. id focused too much on graphics and too little on action and other stuff.

green5792d ago (Edited 5792d ago )

List it under rumors for now until official confirmation because according to e3.net, velvet Assassin is listed for PS3,360 and PC but according to the official website and the devs, it will only be for 360 and PC.

E3.net is even listing Splinter cell conviction as well. Not to sure about that.I am taking even the Alan Wake posting as a rumor.

EDIT: Anyway John Carmack does not really like the PS3 but he has gone on record to state that his games will be multi platform. But that was a long time ago.

Altis15792d ago

Doom 3 may of sucked in comparison to the legendary Doom and Doom 2, but still was able to scare the living crap out of me. There are few games that do that and I love them for it.

One thing did come to mind. Could this possibly be one of the titles that MS announces at E3?

omni_atlas5792d ago

lol, id software and john carmack can keep their software. Quake wars on the PS3 sucked balls.

Statix5792d ago

Doom 3 was a major disappointment, and doesn't exactly leave me with much excitement for the next installment. Rage looks a little more interesting.

TruthBTold5792d ago

but seemed like I was playing the same level for such a long time, I got bored of it and never finished it. Id say it was boring too, games that I have purchased for PC lately and enjoyed so far are Age of Empires 3, Fable and FEAR. I also got San Andreas for PC but just got bored of it and never finished it, the GTA franchise needs to change or quit, too much of the same stuff. But yeah Doom 3 didnt suck but wasnt anything special, at least not good enough to keep you playing.

xionpunk5792d ago

Well. it wasn't horrible, but Doom 3 was just kinda boring.

Evil0Angel5792d ago (Edited 5792d ago )

maybe you don't like it but that does not mean it is not a very very big franchise and 360 owners will be able to experience it without spending 2000$ in PC that can run it properly.

i do not like the childish style of MGS( pull everything you need from your pocket ), but that does not mean it will not sell millions and move systems.

himdeel5792d ago (Edited 5792d ago )

...to play this game and didn't finish it. I was disappointed and not happy to see this game coming out.

Once I figured out how to locate the monster boxes I died a little on the inside =(

juuken5792d ago

I lost interest in Doom a long time ago, followed by Quake. I used to play Doom on the PC.

mepsipax5792d ago

Watching the tech demo of ID's latest engine being used for Doom IV I really hope they just release a dumbed down port to the 360 like they did with 3 to the xbox, It's not that I hate 360 it's just that to use that engine to it's full potential you can't do it on 3 year old hardware, I think Doom 3 was pretty good, I just added a few mods to make it better like the flashlight mod and a mod that added more enemies. It was pretty decent, but if you want a modern doom stop b*tching and go out and buy serious sam.

Chris Bosh5792d ago

Ah shut up.
I know we are all dissapointed that it isnt coming to ps3 and thatsthe only system I have, but u dont have to Downgrade the game cuz its not comin to our platform.
Bill"RICH ASS"Gates gets everything he wants.
Money can buy u hapiness.

LJWooly5792d ago

Yep, if it's anything like Doom 3, I think whoever's getting it, can keep it.

HateBoy5792d ago (Edited 5792d ago )

Wow, so apparently doom 3 is now one of the worst games ever... lol.

Doom 3 rocked.

BrianC62345792d ago

I liked the first Doom games but Doom 3 was horrible. They should have ended the games before they made Doom 3. I don't care if there is a Doom 4, I won't be buying it. Time to move on to a new story.

Scrooge5792d ago

I agree with captain tuttle's first statement, Sony camp will suddenly give no credit to Doom 3. PS3 fanboys are the worst, you guys are living in an alternate reality! So ID doesn't list PS3 as one of the platforms, that means you automatically have to bash Doom3. Orange Box sucked on PS3 so that means Valve is the worst developer ever. You dorks give me a headache sometimes.

GametimeUK5792d ago

all fanboys are like that not just the ps3 ones... I remember Haze getting a lot of hype by Tre60 fanboys until it was announced a PS3 exclusive... (the game sucks but thats not the point)

and lets not forget how much Tre60 fanboys wanted MGS4... but now that they finally realize its a PS3 game they "dont care" because its a so called "movie"

suck it ALL FANBOYS SUCK

Proxy5792d ago (Edited 5792d ago )

They better make the PC version PC quality, and not have them both looking the same.

I personally loved Doom 3, one of my favorite xbox 1 titles, it will be a nice welcomed addition to the xbox 360 library

Monchichi0255792d ago

I thought Doom 3 was just as good as the other 2! Can't wait!!! And this time we'll be able to play against all those others playing on there PC's! How AWESOME is that??!!

ape0075792d ago

awesome game
I don't know why some guys here didn't like it

it was one of the best games on the orignal xbox along with riddik:escape from butcher bay

and yes Im a hardcore doom fan

played doom1,doom2, and the best doom of them all doom 64

HateBoy5792d ago (Edited 5792d ago )

Most of them don't like because its not coming out for their console of choice. When it gets announced for the ps3 you'll see a lot "oh but now that i've seen the gameplay/trailer I'm really looking forward to it, and I just know it'll be better on X console"

Not all of them, some just dont like it...

SickNick855792d ago

it's a fake...they put in this site velvet assassin and saboteur (same game) for ps3 360 and pc when ps3 was deleted months ago...

green5792d ago

Velvet Assassins was previously known as sabotage not saboteur..That is why the name was changed.Saboteur is a different game that is for both 360 and PS3.

But your right in regard to no Velvet Assassins for PS3.

SickNick855792d ago

your right but the site is a fake that report rumor and not official news...i read it in neogaf....

green5792d ago

Your right.Read my 1st post.I am taking everything on that site as a rumor and everybody should do the same.

InMyOpinion5792d ago

Saboteur is also a remake of an old C64 classic =)

jtucker785792d ago (Edited 5792d ago )

Are you refering to the Saboteur where you played as a ninja, had to set off a bomb and escape the building on your bike before it blew up?
(or was that Saboteur 2 when you were the female ninja?)

Played it on the spectrum.

Remember how you could find bricks in those piles of rubble and throw them at the guards?

Great Days

InMyOpinion5792d ago (Edited 5792d ago )

I remember both games, but played Saboteur 2 with the female ninja the most. The beginning was the coolest, where you ran over cliffs to enter through the roof of the building. I remember the weird looking flying kicks as well ;) I hope they've scrapped those by now.

Snukadaman5792d ago

sabotuer is the one with black and white and you have to capture areas to return them to color and is a true story based on a resistance figher that use to be a race car driver....velvet asassin is based on a undercover british agent. both are located in germany is where the mix up is I think.

krackchap5792d ago

now its also listing psp,ds and wii as a platform
so whats next? doom 4 coming to the psp/wii/ds
gosh people make news out of nothing

predator5792d ago

doom 4 will most likly come on 360, pc and ps3 and if not be a microsoft platform exclusive for 6 months or so like bioshock

HeroOfCows5792d ago (Edited 5792d ago )

I don't see why it wouldn't be on the PS3. I mean, they're spending so much time on id Tech 5, which is supposed to make it extremely easy to make games cross platform right? So why wouldn't it be? (This isn't really aimed at you per se, I just didn't want to make a new topic and yours was the best to reply to).

Looking back now though, Siligon is probably who I should've responded to. Whoops.

No Man's Sky Is Easily One Of Gaming's Greatest Comeback Stories

Despite No Man Sky's rocky launch, Hello Games managed to turn it into one of the best space exploration RPGs out there.

-Foxtrot5h ago

I hate the whole concept of "comeback story" because at the end of the day it doesn't remove the core issue we had in the first place, that we were lied to, it was disappointing and it launched with bare content to what was promised for years.

Any bad game can have a comeback story if it's supported enough after launch but for me if you launch in a terrible state then you had your chance. I can applaud you for what you've done after but at the end of the day there's not much of a choice since most gamers would blank your next product if you ditched your last game so fast, it's not about repairing the game but spending your time repairing gamers trust before you launch your next product otherwise it would be dead on arrival.

With these stories and the games being updated, the only way is up most of the time so of course it's going to improve the game and feel better over all, getting better and better as time passes. No Mans Sky, Sea of Thieves, Fallout 76 etc but then you have games like Anthem, Suicide Squad, Redfall and The Avengers where the devs just clearly moved on, now if they have another product people won't be as exited for it, I mean hell Guardians of the Galaxy was a great game but because of the Avengers it didn't help its sales since people were obviously still sour at that point.

I still think despite the improvements to games like No Mans Sky and Cyberpunk along with being better now overall the games are still not up there to what was promised and hyped as for years.

If we keep celebrating these “comeback stories” then unfortunately it only strongly supports the concept that these studios / publishers can continue to push half arsed broken products out for the sake of quick sales instead of waiting until they are fully finished. We need to condemn this awful behaviour or sadly we lose all voice and power as consumers.

Sonic18814h ago(Edited 4h ago)

I feel the same way about Cyberpunk 2077. I'm glad you mentioned that. I'm not a fan of comeback stories as well. But No man sky developer was a small indie team compared to CDPR. It's worse when it's coming from a AAA developer

Nacho_Z3h ago

"Any bad game can have a comeback story if it's supported enough after launch"

You make it sound so simple and easy. It's not. After release Hello Games poured countless hours into getting their game closer to what they originally wanted, without charging a penny to anyone. That's not normal.

The reason NMS and HG are held in such high esteem and calling them liars is a weak stance is the amount of work they've put into it, for free. They're not chasing a quick buck, they've dedicated their lives over the last few years to giving their fans the game everyone wanted.

-Foxtrot3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

They are liars though...

We are not revising history here, I'm sorry but we're not

They built this game up for years and they launched it knowing full well it wasn't up to scratch to what they originally showed off or hyped it up to be.

"They're not chasing a quick buck, they've dedicated their lives over the last few years to giving their fans the game everyone wanted"

And like I said above most of that comes from the fact that if they had just moved on straight away nobody would have supported their next game. They've washed most of that sour taste away after supporting No Mans Sky so now they are doing a new game which more people feel like they can support and get excited for.

Anyway how can you say "You make it sound so simple and easy. It's not" and then make the point that "Hello Games poured countless hours into getting their game closer to what they originally wanted, without charging a penny to anyone"

This means that if a small team like this can turn a game around then big AAA games like Suicide Squad, Redfall, Anthem and the like should have been able to do it no problem, oh but that's right they didn't want to put the time or effort into it. They can do it but some people just decide not to.

thorstein5h ago

I really enjoyed it at launch and had every trophy by August 2016.

The experience I had is no longer in the game: It was just me and my ship. It was a survival game and the feeling of loneliness in the universe was pervasive. There was no way to ruin too far from your ship and, in an emergency, you grenaded a hole in the ground to survive.

I miss that aspect, but since then, I love what they've done.

Hugodastrevas3h ago

I'd say it's THE definitive comeback story

TheGamingHounds1h ago

Final Fantasy 14 takes that one imho

jwillj2k42h ago

Oh great another story about the cleanest shirt in a bin of dirty laundry.
