I chose to buy the game for my 360,and let me tell you this; The network coding for this game is,quite frankly, the worst of this gen and any other gen in the history of video games.

Not only does the game lag, disconnect, and suffer from a plethora of other problems, but to top it all off, once the actual game starts, you'll discover it suffers from more exploits and glitches than any other game you've played.

I gotta say SSBB gives it a run for its money though.

iamtehpwn5812d ago

For the First Week, SSBB played TOTALLY unstable,
but now it plays Fantastic, And never disconnects for me.
You just haven't played It recently.

tatotiburon5812d ago

i never experience any network issues on my xbox 360 version of The Orange Box, excellent game

kingme715812d ago

@iam

You are correct, I haven't gotten back to it for at least a month. Might be time to pick it up again. Glad to hear it is working better.

ScentlessApprentice75812d ago

I am sure EA has lost a significant amount of potential sales revenue to that botched job of the Orange Box on PS3 and all the negative press its been getting. I myself was going to buy it on day one, but after hearing about so many bugs and issues with the game, I decided to buy Assassin's Creed instead.

Dark General5812d ago

The Orange Box for Ps3 and i have to say that the port isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. Portal runs great and Team Fortress 2 runs really good with little to no lag for me (unless i go on a Europe server). As for Half-Life 2 i haven't touched either of the episodes since i couldn't get pass the borefest which is Half-Life 2. I seriously have no idea how people can love that game so much when it has horrible level design, impotent guns, one of the lamest protagonist in recent memory and it has absolutely no plot. The plot basically consists of "Run don't let them catch you!". Seriously the game isn't that good to me and probably the single most overhyped video game i've ever played.

But as far as the technical side of Half-Life 2 there really isn't that many problems besides when you put a bunch of red explosive barrolls next to each other and shoot them just to see them go flying in different directions as they burst then that's when the framerate drops. Also the framerate drops when you're using the quicksave filter every once in a while in middle of a gun fight. But besides that i don't have any real technical problems with Half-Life 2 i can't speak for episode 1 or 2 but Half-Life 2, Portal and TF2 all runs really good contrary to what i was expecting.

JBaby3435812d ago

All I've played so far is Half-life 2 and I have to say the boredom of that game is worse than any technical issues. I never played a half-life before and I can't force myself to keep playing this one. Someone will really have to clue me into why these games were/are acclaimed because I see nothing special about them.

I'll have to see about portal or the other games but at this point I have to say it doesn't bother me that valve isn't making PS3 games because from what I've seen from them we're not missing anything.

Dark General5812d ago (Edited 5812d ago )

Portal is MUCH better and fun than the snorefest that is HL2. I suggest you play that then try out Team Fortress 2. Portal is the best game i've played this gen.

Superfragilistic5812d ago (Edited 5812d ago )

I agree about the network code. Team Fortress is a disgrace online regardless of platform.

But in terms of the single player experience, you'd be mad to actually buy it on PS3 and not the 360 if you had the choice of both. EA's effort is absolutely disgusting and has rightly angered many PS3 owners who got the short end of the stick.

Orange Box no.3?????

no, sorry

Lost Planet wasn't that bad and PES 2008 ran poorly on both next-gen consoles

still played great though

MikeGdaGod5812d ago

i traded it in months ago because it wouldn't even let me go pass a certain part in my season.

this might be the first year i skip a Madden game

MK_Red5812d ago

EA's PS3 games alone can fill a top 10 or even 20 list. Seriously, they're been just horrible to PS3.

solidjun55812d ago

yea, i guessed that EA and Ubi-Soft would take atleast half of the list before i read the article. I knew Madden and Splinter Cell was going to be on it. Those games were terrible. I'm a big football player and i've been disenchanted with Madden for about 3-4 years. But 2008 broke the straw on the camel's back. That was atrocious, considering i was playing my friend's 360 version the night before. Night and Day man, Night and Day.

Don't get me started on Splinter Cell.

Maldread5812d ago

Hehe yeah that`s true. I think the could`ve filled up any top 10 or 20 list of horrible games, regardless of platforms also. They seem to give you less of visual pleasure, but with more (and often gameplay disturbing) framrate issues.

Just think how Fallout 3 would have looked or played if EA was behind it. Ohh the horror ;)

MK_Red5812d ago

solidjun5, Ubi was indeed bad at first but recently games like Assassins Creed or Vegas 2 haven't been horrible ports. Not perfect but still better than anything EA has ported so far.

Maldread, Good one on the less visual flavor and more frame rate issues, scary one on the Fallout 3 :D

Games That Were Bad on Release, But Are Now Great

Good list..hoped to see Street Fighter 5 there..and it is.

Vits1d 2h ago (Edited 1d 2h ago )

Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.

darthv721d ago

Several years ago, i submitted an idea to Rare that would change up the mechanics of battling opponents in the game. whereby if you died in battle, you turned into a skeleton warrior and had to fight your way back to the land of the living. It was an interesting twist on respawning and would allow the player to experience both sides of a battle.

I keep hoping to see something like that get added to the game.

They consider FO 76 & ME Andromeda to be great now 🤭

anast23h ago

Every game in the last 2 decades...

INMATEofARKHAM20h ago

It's sad that this quick retort is more often than not true... The industry's acceptance of release and patch has gone too far.

gunnerforlife9h ago

Days gone! By the end of the game I couldn't drop it down! I went around so many hours killing zombies! It was addictive by the end.

S2Killinit5h ago

That game was just plain good game. It didnt improve, it was just good.

gunnerforlife3h ago

I don't know, I got it abit late, and struggled for a few days, and then all of a sudden it just got good!!
