Wouldn't be surprised if one of the money men at Microsoft have already earmarked this studio for closure regardless of how well Hellblade 2 does. Hence the lack of marketing spend.
I've got to disagree with the comments blaming consumers. Yes that is a part of it but by and large the money men are closing studios and sacking staff to increase profitability. Let's not forget the obscene salaries they're on compared to the people who actually make the games. Take 2 are not short of cash, this didn't have to happen.
This seems such an inconsequential removal, to get so uppity about it and not buy it as a result seems so incredibly petty. Am I missing something here?

Whilst it's an overreaction to say this has "ruined" the game, it's still problematic that this has happened post launch and for many, post-purchase.
I don't want someone to change a product for the worse after I've bought it. The same goes for implementing micro transactions after reviews.

Totally agree, as a jaded gamer well into his 30s I didn't think games could hit like Ghost it Tsushima did. I actively avoided story missions in order to pursue every single side quest purely because I didn't want it to end. I wanted to be immersed in that world for as long as it lasted.
The stuff that came out at GDC is damning for XBox.

It failed in the market, the consumer decides whether it's successful or not and if the product doesn't appeal to the consumer then that's the fault of the people making/marketing that product.

This is one DLC I'll be happy to pay full price for. The sales for AW2 are way under what they should be given just how damn good the game is. I haven't enjoyed a game this much since Ghost of Tsushima and if I can support the dev in any way, I will.
