Sure hope they can work out the performance issues on PS5 and take care of some of issues with the draw distance of things like shadows.

Kinda baffling that a game that's obviously not taxing on hardware gets a graphics and balanced mode. Good game though but I really hope they hire a new UI designer for their next game

Yeah, being so slow to do things is kind of annoying. I'm at the end of the game and I was upgrading everyone's weapon to max level, and if I did it all in one sitting, it'd probably take 45 minutes to do. I would have loved the auto advance dialogue if there wasn't such a delay in moving on to the next line when it reached the end, but oddly works great if you press the button to advance the on-screen text. I just HATE that you get the sound effect of the button press without a way to turn it off.

If you're going for recruiting all heroes, be aware there's a point of no return at some point that will lock you out from one of the major heroes. I won't spoil it, but you may want to look into that if it matters. That's what pissed me off the most. Otherwise, loving the game. I'll certainly be getting the DLC and keeping an eye out for a sequel.

yeah I had exactly the same issues that you are describing. Everything takes SO LONG to do when it should be done in a second. For the rest I'm really enjoying it though, Eiyuden and Sea of Stars have been games I've been looking forward to for a long time now.

Thanks for the headsup, I'm not at the end yet and hope that I didn't miss him/her

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU (XS) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "Reminiscent of The Last Case of Benedict Fox, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU feels like 2024's definitive example of mismanaging Metroidvania 101 tenets. And it's a shame to be that harsh when its inspiration feels like a wonderful antidote to the soulless company (EA) backing it and the commercialized entity (TGA) which first advertised it. Through an impassioned sense of grief, Abubakar Salim wanted to craft a story that authentically tries to wrestle with those same feelings. That's a great achievement of the medium as a potential creative outlet. Unfortunately, though, it's saddled to a haphazardly-designed game that falls short of sustaining that enthusiasm and squaring up against its contemporaries."

this review is a 5.5 🙄 that game is WAY better than that!

coolbeans16h ago

Ouch. I'll admit this one is more of a 5.5/6 score coin flip (if you will), but that's about all I can muster for it. There's so many other Metroidvanias out there that do a better job at game design.
