Kind of heart breaking to see, the studio, responsible for making 3 near-perfect super hero games is trying to sell a GAAS game which now looks like a Fortnite mod ... (after its initial announcement, Suicide squad was one of my top anticipated games, [since it was from Rocksteady], until they showed the damn gameplay, yuck)
The current damage would've been less if they released another SP game in-between Arkham Knight and Suicide Squad ... or atleast WB-Montreal's Gotham Knights turned out better, but nah ....
Now only Monolith (F.E.A.R & Mordor) can save DC games' reputation with their SP Wonder Woman game ...

Some told me they were delaying it reverse the L'S stuff? No they delayed it to further polish the game. Going back on the LS is to change the system and mechanics entirely something to none Live Servicy they're 100% not doing any such thing.

The recent news is Wonder Woman will have some sorta LS mechanics as well.

WB at this point is at the whim of investors and Rock steady are suffering because of it. My God read the room WB!? Nobody is asking for this crap LS is flooding the industry and we'll more than half are failing.

This game will be DOA and from the sound of it so is Wonder Woman at this rate.

Rumors/Leaks suggest both Rocksteady and WB Montreal had numerous SP projects in-development, but none were greenlit by WB ... which resulted in developing the online-dependent Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad games ... the publisher prefer live-service projects more now.

Thing is, even if they license them out we could still end up with games like Suicide Squad, or Avengers. Only Insomniac has done it right, and I guess Guardians of The Galaxy is considered to be pretty good too. Just take a look at SONY and all their craptastic Marvel movies, despite sitting on a gold mine, the possibility of creating their own Universe that could surpass what Marvel has done doesn't seem to be even a passing thought for them. Everyone so far (Insomniac xcluded) is looking for a quick buck off the name and popularity of super hero related stuff.
Hell they can't even seem to make another decent Batman game out the gate despite the Arkham series being so well received.

Sony owns the rights of basically everything related to Spiderman. Their movies so far have been good awful, despite having the chance to make something amazing they just don't. My point is that right now super hero stuff is popular but no one seems to want to make something decent with these IPs across all sorts of visual media, all except Insomniac which have made 3 decent Spider-Man games and are on their way to release a Wolverine game that will most likely be just as good.

With the economic downturn in the world, and the rise in development costs, and the greed of publishers/investors, I wonder how and when we'll start seeing articles predicting the next video game crash like in 1983. Sure it'll be different circumstances, but my trajectory radar is going off, with enough dots connecting, that it could happen sooner than we might think.

It may not be like what it's described in 83. But i see a huge tsunami being created, with a lot of good developers being sucked in, and it'll be a different world for gaming than what we're use to. Less variety in games, less games, the same game, different seasons, pay to access, pay to play online, pay to obtain certain features, less effort in content creation originality but at a grand scale.

There won't be another games crash. The industry is way way way bigger then it was in the early 80s. Eventually I hope is that the aaa studios will release this isn't really what we want. But I can't see another video game crash. To many developers to much money etc for that to happen

You know what kills me?

The industry has stagnated hard. The last generation we saw developers taking proper risks was with PS3/X360. That generation produced titles where it wasn't immediately clear that they would be great games.

Now, it seems like the "risk" being taken is reputational, looking for ways to monetize the fans in perpetuity by releasing unfinished games that will get more content in a drip fed, titrated manner that isn't unlocked through in game challenges, but through sticking around for timed content drops.

It's really depressing.

Personally I think real risk stopped at ps2, xbox, and gamecube. Ps3 and xbox 360 didnt have mamy risky games at all. I remember it being fps galore , some wrpgs, and literally a handful of jrpgs. Great games came out but they werent risky. id say more risky type games are coming out now compared to ps3 360 gen, indies are helping with that for sure. Some might not agree especially if ypu were newer to gaming back then but that gen was pretty stale compared to before and after, imo and ive been around since nes, and atarii. Again im not saying there werent great games at all.
