Wccftech's Best Indie Games of The Decade - Independent Revolution

It is time for Wccftech to select the best indie games of the decade, far from an easy job considering how the 2010s saw independent developers rise.

For sure, but i'm shocked to see Journey not even in the honorable mentions. Resogun and Nex Machina also deserve to be on the list. Dead Cells, Owlboy, Transistor, Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon, Pyre, Axiom Verge are some other good ones that are absent. Perhaps even Soma or Helldivers?

Alienation is underrated. I actually prefer it over Resogun when it comes down to Housemarque's games. I need to play more SuperGiant games as I loved Transistor. I enjoy the level of effort they put into their artwork. It's always gorgeous.

A fair few of those arent indie. Helldivers, Journey, Resogun and Alienation have the support of a major publisher. How did you think those were indie?

The main picks are good but the honourable mentions are a bit bland. Where the f*** is Hotline Miami, The Talos Principle, Superhot, Katana Zero, Thumper, My Friend Pedro, Hollow Knight, The Witness, Niddhogg, Night In The Woods, Journey, Towerfall, Guacamelee, Furi, Olli Olli, Ape Out, Pyre, The Stanley Parable, etc?

Ooo, Hotline Miami. That game was a blast, despite the frustration of dying over and over. I never played the sequel.

I don't think Bastion is even the best SuperGiant game of the last decade. In my opinion Transistor was more impressive. The combat was leaps and bounds improved providing both turn based and real time options as well as a near limitless mix of combinations. The soundtrack and narration are always sublime in SuperGiant games, but i think they took it to another level in Transistor with the DS4 talking to you and with Red being a lounge singer and offering power vocal numbers. Tbh, Pyre was a fantastic game as well, but for me Transistor was something special. SuperGiant Games is a truly talented studio.

I also believe that Hellblade was a bit overrated. The visuals and art direction are stunning, but the game is very limited. Senua is deliberately slow and she controls in a very tanky and non responsive fashion. The game is extremely linear and exploration consists of searching a claustrophobic forest with many barriers for white dots that contain lore stones. The puzzles were tedious and redundant. Combat wasn't spectacular. The auto save feature caused many people to lose data because the developers included no chapter select and no manual save. If you fell into a progress impeding bug you were basically f*****.

Not to be rude, but this is kind of a lame list. While I agree with some, "Celeste" is in the honorable mentions, and the "Hotline Miami" series isn't even mentioned? Someone also noted that "Journey" isn't included? Uh.. those are some fairly MAJOR titles to exclude altogether.
