Doom Beta Death Match Impressions Part 2

The super shotgun does very high damage and can easily two shot full health enemies. The shotguns imbalance also comes from the fact that there is no radar in Doom (2016). Which can make it easy for a player with a shotgun to ambush enemies. I lost track of the number of times I got flattened out by this weapon. To be fair, I also wrecked numerous enemies with this weapon aswell. The super shotgun would, be better as a high tier power weapon, by having it's damage increased and ammo limited.
The vortex rifle is arguably the most overpowered starting weapon. The vortex rifle is a sci-fi sniper weapon, when not zoomed the weapon shoots slowly, but still does decent single shot damage. However, when zoomed, the weapon charges and it's damage increases allowing for one shot kill head shots. A fully charged vortex rifle also emits a laser to warn enemies. Fast eyed players can quickly kill with this weapon, by snapping onto targets quickly before they notice the laser. The vortex rifle like the super shotgun, would be better off as a high tier power weapon. The weapons unzoomed damaged could be increased, while the sniper function could be kept the same.
The static rifle is the most unique weapon in the game. In order to fire the static rifle, the gun most be charged by the players movement, a lack of activity causes the weapon to lose charge and fire power. A fully charged static rifle can be fired twice, both shots will do high damage, partially charged shots do much less damage, but allow for a faster fire rate (assuming the player is moving). The static rifles' charged shots allow it to do heavy damage, with good range (the weapon can be zoomed ), A single charged shot is great for damaging full health enemies. I commonly used the plasma rifle and heavy assault rifle, to finish off enemies that I damaged with charged static rifle shots after the weapon was drained of charge. The static rifle while tricky to use, is almost sniper like and capable of high damage. The static rifle would be much better off as med tier pick up weapon, with buffed damage and charge rate.
The other three rifles in the game are not particularly strong and fit well as starting weapons. The plasma rifle has a moderate fire rate and damage, however the guns secondary fire shots a glob of plasma that does moderate impact damage and creates a burning puddle of plasma that can damage enemies (and allies) for a few seconds. The lighting rifle shoots a bolt of lightning with moderate range; this gun's secondary fire decreases the damage and the emitted bolt of electricity can hit multiple targets by arching. Damage from the lightning gun appears to be continuous. Lastly the heavy assault rifle is a fully automatic weapon. The heavy assault is not particularly useful as a standalone weapon, it lacks damage. The secondary fire of the heavy assault rifle, allows the gun to be fired while zoomed (at 2x). I personally think the plasma rifle and lighting gun should be placed on map and buffed, with the earlier doing high damage but haveing a low fire rate. The lighting gun has potential to be an interesting power play weapon where it buffed, if a map had two lighting guns for pick up, the team controlling them would have tactical advantage by using the gun's secondary fire. The heavy assault rifle has starting weapon written all over it, as the gun overall is modest and does not compete well with the other loadout weapons in the beta.
Loadouts also allow the player to start with a rocket launcher with a secondary fire that allows fired missiles to detonate in mid air. Despite being a defining power weapon in other shooters, Doom(2016)'s rocket launcher is generally weaker than the games sniper rifle and shotgun. The rocket launcher can kill in two direct hits or 3 plus indirect hits. The rocket launcher should be buffed and made into a power weapon. Doom is the only game I have ever played where a rocket launcher is weaker than a shotgun, which to me simply sounds wrong, especially for a game totting itself as being old-school.
Additionally Doom has two grenades (in the beta at least) , these are a powerful frag grenade, a life draining siphon grenade that steals health for the it's thrower . The frag grenades to me were powerful but fair, while the siphon grenades seldom got be direct kills, but could be used strategically used to steal health, block paths and weaken targets. Players can also forgo adding a grenade to their loadout and instead opt for a personal teleporter. When a teleporter is thrown , a player is able to instantly relocate to the location of where the teleporter landed. It is possible to kill a player by teleporting into them and thus earning a 'tele-frag'. A 'tele-frag' can kill even a demon instantly, the instant kill ability of the personal teleporter is something that will likely be exploited. The mobility granted by the personal teleporter is extremely deadly when combined with the overpowered super shotgun.

Ghost Of Tsushima's PSN May Be Online-Only, But People Still Can't Play It

Sucker Punch’s massive samurai adventure Ghost of Tsushima has come under fire because of the PSN requirement. However, unlike Helldivers 2, things are a lot different and more logical this time.

thorstein9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

"Sony has made it clear long before its release that the PSN requirement is strictly for the online multi-player Legends mode in Ghost of Tsushima and the PlayStation overlay. Online connection or PSN is not applied to the single-player campaign, which is honestly what the game is all about."

Legends clearly was based around using the pan they hardly want to have to design a whole new account structure just to play it, that's alot of effort and work. Ultimately people kicked up a fuss despite there being workarounds in most of those territories that people with a ps console have used over there for literally like 15/16 years. This is the consequence of that, be careful what you wish for or demand because you don't necessarily get to pick the method by which you get it.

Mullet MadJack Gameplay & Impressions 4K

CG writes: In this video we take a look at the full game of HAMMER95’s Mullet MadJack on PC in 4K. This is a rather cool rogue-like first-person shooter where you have to survive for 10 seconds by increasing your timer for each kill. Not the most original of ideas, but works wonders in context of the 80/90s aesthetic. Game releases May 15th.
