PSP Go - Why the hate?

Why people hate this upgraded psp is because there is not a second analog stick. I think sony could have just have a new psp but keep all of the older psp specs and just add a 2nd stick. THen people would by this. also if I had the choice between psp go and a wii... I would choose a wii any day(even though the wii is overpriced)because the wii is a functional console and not and not very well update console.

My thoughts on the second analog stick..

Sony could have added the second analog stick and button mapped it to the Triangle Circle Square and X face buttons. That way FPS games would play more comfortably for PSP Go owners but the same game would still work for older models. That is all the second analog stick is really needed for. The lack of one really cripples the feel of the FPS genre on the console almost to the point of not wanting to play them. Call of Duty and Metal of Honor for PSP are almost unbearable to play with face buttons.

well im in the other column I own a 1000 with custom firmware (i do not pirate games, or homebrew games I use it for the homebrew apps)

I own a 2001 that I keep with the latest official firmware

And I will be buying a Go! just to have on ein my collection, also I have heard there will be blu-tooth sync with mobile phones for data so there is a good reason to buy....

I think part of it obviously has to do with the fact that it's the fourth redesign in four years and offers little in advancements in the scheme of things. It actually does appear to be a downgrade when you consider short battery life, smaller screen and no UMD but the price is higher.

with lack of umd, what do i do, hell im not going to rebuy every psp game i own, and i still don't want to give up my umds in the first place, i hope maybe sony will come out with a type of transfer from psp to the ps3 then to the psp go and ill be for it

I hate it because it's too expensive! If Sony dropped the price of the PS3 by $100 it almost be at the same price as a freaking PSP go! Get my point?

The Ds still more fun and it is a lot more cheaper. If the PSP go included more things like a a fancy touch screen and a second analog stick then it would be awesome at the price.

Like i said though, we're ignoring the price for now. I do agree they're overpricing it, but as a device - why are people hating it?

As for the second analogue.. nintendo nearly ran themself into the ground by segmenting their market.. sony didn't want to segment the whole PSP market..

This is just an alternative, not a replacement, not a new platform, an alternative for people, like me who prefer download only.

You just answered your own question. PSP owners wanted more of an upgrade, not an expensive alternative.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't the Go still 64MB of RAM like the previous two PSP models? When did it double?

Sony calls it something different in the feature list, but basically - it freeze's the games process and loads up the XMB so you can access it in game.

And I don't want to here the BS about how it would alienat developers that are working on future titles, just don't use the second analog if you don't want to.

I don't think you understand, segmenting the market on something like this is terrible.

Nintendo nearly ran themselfs into the ground doing this. This isn't a new platform so you can't go changing things as important as that till you get to that next platform.

is the screen the same size as the old psp?

Nah, the PSP Go screen is 3.8 inches, the PSP 3000 screen is 4.2 iirc.
