Why would you want to be a fanboy

I just can't get my head around the fact that some people only want one gaming system and then spend an awful lot of time trolling its rival. Why would a 360 gamer want to miss out on Killzone 3, Uncharted 2 and countless other amazing exclusives. Why would PS3 owners want to miss out on Halo, Gears of War, Fable, Splinter Cell and countless others, It puzzles me. I know the Xbox has had its problems, hell i'm on my fifth one but I've only ever had to buy two. Microsoft did a great job with the RROD problem which they should be given credit for, in the same way Sony should be given credit for the way they have handled the PSN hack. But no, both sides have been at each others throats from day 1.

I actually feel sorry for the Sony fanboys who never bought the original Xbox, that was a great system with some truly great games. You missed out on some of the best games of last gen, but you will never admit it though will you. I was a fanboy once, I was so loyal to the PS2 that I used to make up stories about the Xbox to my school friends to try and stop them from buying it. I remember one being that because the controller was so big it had two seconds of lag, oh how laim I was. But a trip to game changed my view of games for ever. I went to trade some games in and there it was a huge ass Xbox with halo being played on it. I showed no interest at first but as I kept glancing over I became more and more intrigued by it. I finally swallowed my pathetic fanboy pride and had a go and I was blown away. It was like nothing I'd ever played, the graphics were so much better than what I was used too. I didn't make my decision there and then, I bought an Xbox magazine and went home to see what else this console had to offer because I wasn't going to buy it for one game. To my amazement there were tons of games to look forward too, not the three games my fellow fanboys had swore too. So the next day I bought an Xbox with Halo, Pgr and something else which I can't remember. Since then I have been a multi console owner because there are no reasons to own just one and not the other except stupid fanboy things which any intelligent person should be able to see through.

There are more benefits than just exclusives, when a multiplat releases you have the choice on which console you want to play it on, like say for instance Red Dead Redemption was better on the 360 and Final Fantacy was better on the PS3. There is only one reason that you could justify owning just one of the consoles and that is if you could only afford one, then my advice would be to go with the PS3. But if you can afford both then buy both because there is no better way to game.

Some people can't afford another console. I am one of those people. It is a pain because I would love to play some 360 titles but this is where the "fanboyism" is created. It is reassuring your purchase (best example is Apple fanboys defending the reaosn for getting a £700 "Laptop"). Some people troll to get a response others do it because like I just said to defend there purchase. I go to 360/Wii2 stories not to troll but because I am interested in what Microsoft/ Nintendo is doing especially when it comes to the next generation because I need to decide which is going to last. I am glad I didn't rush out to get a 360 and waited to see what the PS3 had to offer. This is what I am going to do in the next generation.I am more leaning towards Sony because I haven't been disappointed but if they release a console which looks disappointing then I will avoid it because I only have time and money for one console.

I look for reliability and, sorry but after having my 360 RROD after the warranty was over I did not find a reason to purchase another. Also paying $60 for features I don't use except playing online is not worth coughing up that money. Halo, Gears of War, Fable, Splinter Cell I can play those on my PC with better graphics yet I still see no reason to buy a 360.

I call myself a "Half-assed fanboy." I haven't seen any games that are worth the $300 for a 360, but I'm not going to run around and call the 360 a glorified doorstop. The one time I did, I wasn't even serious and still got accused of trolling (First comment - http://n4g.com/news/755962/...

Honestly; the whole reason I don't own a 360 is I'm happy with my PS3. I'll probably get a PS4 when the next generation starts. I like the reliability of the system (only sent off for repairs once in fifteen years) and the customer service... and of COURSE... the games.

Some of us are fanboys because the gaming market has led us that way. I guess you could call me a fanboy, as I have no interest in owning any other console besides PS3. I have 35+ games on my PS3, exclusives and multiplat, from all genres. I love games but the price of the device must be justified in other to purchase. I do not want nor do I have a use for a 360. 2 or 3 exclusive games and DLC is not worth 300+ dollars. I use my PS3 for Netflix, Blu Ray, web browser, and games. Since I refuse to pay for LIVE, with the 360 I could only play single player games and watch DVDs. Not worth it. I'm not gonna spend $1500 on a gaming rig for prettier graphics, and don't mention Wii. Some of us are single console owners for other reasons then money. I might miss out on a few games, but I won't lose any sleep over it.

Because then you can pretend to be an idiot and troll people who actually believe this crap.

Great article, I have been a multi console owner since Snes and Genesis. I do always have my favorite console out of the gen. This gen that would be the PS3 with 33 games.

But fanboys, its just the same as stuff like Ford and Chevy. Common stuff you will always see among us. Its human nature plain and simple...

Bubbles+ to everyone i am feeling nice :)

Musashi vs Cthulhu review - Games Asylum

Games Asylum: "There’s a demand on the digital services for inexpensive games; something cheap and cheerful to brighten a dull afternoon that could potentially be bought with leftover credit. With both limited budget and resources in mind, it pays for the developers of these smaller titles (Musashi vs Cthulhu costs just over £4, incidentally) to keep things simple and focused. There’s joy to be had in simplicity if it’s done well, and it’s up to developers to capitalise on this. Nobody expects a colossal, cinematic, RPG for under a fiver. Something simple that’s refined and fun to play? An entirely reasonable expectation to have. Problem is, low budget games can feel…low budget."
