Cod is getting such a kicking on this site and it's Treyarch that should be getting the flack. I loved call of duty 1 and 2, hated 3, loved 4, hated World at War, loved MW2 and I hate Black Ops. Do you see a pattern emerging here. All the one's I hate were developed by Treyarch and the one's I love were developed by Infinity Ward. There is still hope for COD but I think Activision needs to switch to a game every two years and put Treyarch on something else because its obvious they have no clue how to get a game to run online. I feel like a hypocrite because I bought Black Ops so Activision have my money in the bank and they have provided me with a sub par game. Cod4 is still the best Cod ever made but MW2 wasn't far behind it, it fell into the over hyped trap many great games fall into. I'm not going to compare Cod to any other shooter because each game should be given a chance on there own merits, not on what other games have achieved.
Everyone talks about sales when they mention Cod and its all down to modern warfare's brilliance. Iv'e been gaming about 20 years and no multi player game ever sucked me in like that one did. Since then Cod has grown in popularity but nothing else, with every new cod game, come's even more new gamer's and I think that is good for the industry. I myself no at least 10 people who have an Xbox just for cod and nothing else. I can hear you screaming, but what about all the other great games out there. Well these gamers don't care, they just want to creep around cod maps shooting guns and they are happy with that
Which brings me to my next point, are hardcore gamers becoming the minority. Microsoft have Kinect, Sony have move and Nintendo have been casual since the beginning of this gen. Look at the games on Facebook for instance, they are simple at best and yet they have more users than any console game in the world. I hope i'm wrong but look at Sony, they must be pumping millions into there exclusives and are they selling well, apart from GT5 NO. How long before Sony start chasing the easy money. I see the gaming industry going down that root sometime in the future, unless a game sells 50 million copies in its first 5 minutes its classed as a flop. Look at how many big companies have gone bust, Blizzard, pandemic and countless others have hit rock bottom due to the fact that people want what everybody else is playing.
Senua's Saga: Hellblade II has now launched, bringing with it some of the most stunning visuals you've ever seen in a game.
Going to be real. I’m playing on my PC and every setting is on high at 60fps locked. The game is beautiful, sounds good in headphones (I’m sorry but Returnal still holds the aural crown), and has an impressive photo mode. Can literally hit that at any time. You won’t have full control at certain times, but it’s impressive. After more than an hour I’ve already started to get bored. The fights are brain dead so far and it is a CRAP ton of walking and listening. I’m over the beginning “theme” of you did this to us (people that have played will get this as not to spoil anything). I literally non stop run every chance I get. Obviously isn’t the whole game but gahdamn. Hopefully it picks up soon. Definitely can’t see this being a 10/10 by any stretch of the imagination because the beginning has gotten so boring. Here’s to a better experience tomorrow or Friday when I pick it back up.
The Hunt: Showdown upgrade to CryEngine 5.11 drops this Aug. 15! Players can expect "a mountain of new content" throughout summer of 2024.
Way of Rhea is a puzzle game that is easy to learn and relaxing to play while also putting your critical thinking skills to the test.
It's not just about which is particularly better than the other. CoD has been running on basically the exact same engine and exact same gameplay since CoD4. MW2 was like a carbon copy of CoD4, it's SP had almost all the same set-pieces as CoD4 and it just felt cheap to me when I was playing it. It's MP was the same too, just "bigger and better" (except it wasn't really better). The series just needs to either take a break or quit but it's not going to do either of them, it'll do the opposite now as Activision look like they're going to bleed the series even more with the money they have saved from cutting Guitar Hero and True Crime among others.
As for whether hardcore gamers are the minority, it's hard to say. I don't even rate stuff like Facebook games like Farmville or any of that other stuff, those aren't video-games. Not real ones anyway. FPSs are clearly what the majority seem to want now, all I can say is lets hope that dies down come the time for the next generation of consoles and games so we can see companies really testing themselves and the systems and so we can have the good 'ol diversity we once had.
I mostly agree. Treyarch just sucks. People just wanted a few things fixed in Mw2 and that is all treyarch needed to do for the online. With all that smack talk treyarch did about there game, many people started to believe treyarch would fix the porblems in MW2. Instead they bring back a lot of the problems and add NEW ones.
Iw innovates with few problems. Treyarch copies and ads new problems. W@W was far to imbalanced so the online wasn't really fun unless you had a fast trigger finger with a semi-rifle, mp40 or thompson.
If you play black ops for 30min then go to MW2. You will noticed how much better looking, how much better gameplay, resolution, and quality the game is. Sure commando can get annoying, and death streaks but that game is not bad at all.
COD4 is the best one because it has the least amount of problems. Why? Because they were not rushed.
In order IMO the COD games are:
COD4
MW2
COD2
W@W
BO
I also agree treyarch should work on something different they just are nut cut for COD. They are trying to hard to be IW and failing at it. IW might not be the same as it used to be but the upcoming game with the other devs will show what they have left. I am hoping it will be great or else none of the devs are cut out for COD.
It's not Treyarch, it's CoD, IMO. The reason I hate CoD is it's unskillful gameplay which only really requires fast reflexes to excel at; the arcadey style which completely deters any tactics at all; the unbalance in EACH AND EVERY recent CoD game (CoD 4 - Black Ops); and the gimmicks.
CoD is a game that is just for people who don't want to put any thought to a game whatsoever and just go ahead and shoot everything. In CoD 4, I remember that 1 burst of an M16 to someone's foot at point-blank range would kill them, even without stopping power. With stopping power, it would be one hit to the body from any distance at all. It and the MP5 were ridiculously unbalanced.
In WaW, the MP40 was the most BS in the game. It killed in two-three shots from point-blank range without stopping power and had a decent rate of fire.
In MW2, it was just a goddamn clusterfuck of UMP 45's and Interventions, and the Killstreaks were horribly unbalanced. Get 7 kills, die, call in Harrier, get 7 kills with Harrier and a few of your own and call in a chopper gunner, get Nuke, call in Nuke. It was just a horrible experience for anyone who didn't have ADHD.
Black Ops was decent at first, but then I realized that it was still as bad as all the ones before it.
All of the CoD games have had these elements: Campers, Boosters, Lag and lack of teamwork. And that is why CoD sucks so much, IMO.
It's both. Also, Call of Dooty is BAD. Every year activision repackages Call of Dooty and sells it as a new game.
Edit: Every Cod that has been released after cod4 has all the same bugs as cod4.
