Death of A PS3 Love Afair

I have to be frank, I am in love with the PS3.
There, that's out of the way, now its time to tell you what I don't like.
The customer service.
I could end there, but that wouldn't be much of a story, so I'll start from where my love turned into hate, not for my PS3, but for the Sony call center.
It all started the morning of August 11th. My room mate comes into my room to ask if my PS3 had ever shut off with a red blinking light, followed by 4 beeps.
My answer was simple: Huh? (it was to early to think with out some form of coffee or drugs.)
So there I was, standing in boxers and a white beater, looking at what seems to be my PS3 saying good bye.
This was troubling, as this was a launch unit, a 60GB model. I began questioning my room mate, that I will call Jake, for this story. "Jake, what did you do to my PS3 you ass hole?" I asked, Jake replied, "Nothing dude, now get your balls off my chin, your going to kill me!".
At that point, I calmed down, and after about an hour or tinkering with the PS3, I removed my balls from Jake's chin, and finally found what I hoped would not be, my PS3 has passed away.
There was only one option left, call Sony. I thought this was going to be painless, as I only heard good news from fellow Sony product users.
Boy, was I in for a kick in my face. A pone calling Sony, I received a peppy sounding 12 year old trying to sell me Grand Tourismo prologue, and then ask what System I'm calling about after 3 minutes, I pick answer number 1, this being the PS3 service, little did I know, the service doesn't want to speak to you if you press 1 from the begaining.
So I waste about 15 minutes trying to figure out the codec to talk to a real person.
Finally success.
(Cheat Code Used: 0 then 1 after bitch shuts up.)
Finally I think I'm on my way... A new peppy voice tells me it will take 30 minutes for my call to be picked up by a rep. I'm fine with that, sorta, until 45 minutes go by and im still waiting.
53 minutes and finally I get a human, "Hi my name is Dave, What can I assist you with today?" this made the wait seem worth it in some ways, so I explained that my PS3 had bit the dust, and that it seemed to be linked to a power issue.
The rep continued on to try and make me test the system more, "have you tryed unplugging and replugging the system" " remove all accessorys" "hold the power button".
All I am well aware of, and tested well before my call. He finally agreed that it seems I may have a bad power unit. So, now for the cost talk. how much is this going to cost me to fix it, $150.
Will, this didn't seem like a bad deal, so I agreed to have my system repaired.
I finish giving my info to Dave, and he gives me a service number to call back to see the status of my service.

It is now 6 days since I've heard anything from Sony, but, UPS sends me an E-Mail telling me of a box that should be sent to me in the coming days.
Great! Finally I can get this over with and get my PS3 fixed.
My Thought was shattered with the sight of my name miss spelled, then to my utter amazement, my address completely  slaughtered.
Just to try and give you and idea of what kind of mess up this was, my address street is Commonwealth, the address written was Tomenwell.
To answer your question, there is no Tomenwell here.
So now I'm pissed, I call UPS to try and Fix this, they tell me that they cant fix it, I would need to call the people who are sending it.
So I had to call Sony again, this time to try and fix this horrible problem they let slip.
When I called this time, I am received fairly hastily.
Brinda is now my helper. When I explained my problem, she told me it would all be squared away and that I didn't have to worry about a thing.
What a releaf, time to take a break and try and unwind. Friday comes, and guess what, I check my E-mail and my address doesn't exist in UPS's database, as Tomenwell, still.
Now I am at a state of wanting to strangle some one. I call UPS, and have a nice long talk with them about whats going on, and finally fix the whole typo.
Well they said the good thing is that they could fix it, the bad news is that the box will be 2 days late.
So now its the 19th, and I'm packing my PS3 away.
Make some edits to the printed address, and send the box off to Sonys repair center.
Another week passes, its Friday and I miss the UPS delivery guy.
I go pick up my unit from the UPS delivery center and proceed to head home for unboxing.
I get home, and open that 16Lb box, to my eyes is a beautiful sight, a shinny black PS3.
The unit worked flawlessly out of the box, or so I thought.
It was not my PS3, it was an exchange. I was disappointed in a lot of ways, but not enough to keep me from trying to set my working unit up to fit me again.
Strange things start happening as I tinker with my exchange unit, playing music ingame works fine, but if for any reason I try to play music just to listen to it, the system plays the song I select, but freezes the background and system in general so the system must be hard rebooted.
This was an annoynce to say the least. I let it slide for a few days, and it didn't seem to be hurting anything, but then it hit me, I cant download movies from the video store.
It seemed like just a sync error after the deactivation of my old PS3 and reactivation of the exchange unit.
Well, this was more then meets the eye it appears. My exchange unit is a limon.
Time to call Sony again, this time to send my exchange unit in because its become a liability to turn into another brick. I sent the exchange unit back to Sony on the 25th of September, and am waiting for my new unit to arrive.
This Story is for no one but my self, as it is comforting to let it out, as I feel less for my system every time I have to send it away.
Its as if a loved one is returned to you after you sent them off once already for help, then you figure out that they need help again before they keep seeing you.
Its painful, its saddening, its maddening.
But I can only strive to hope for better days, and finally be able to play some games with out having to worry about my system dying on me.

Wow. that really sucks. My best friend is on his 3rd 40g model. His turnaround was 3 days in both cases! Still on my first 80g. This is one reason I back up every Sunday or when doing many changes. Good luck to ya!
