The tech in the Nintendo Wii U will not be in any type of competition with the PS3 and a newly purchased Vita. This is all wishful thinking from someone or a group of people who probably came back from the store today smiling with a new vita purchase.

The thing that will compute with the Nintendo Wii U is a shiny new PS4 with their own tablet controller.

LX-General-Kaos4469d ago

This video is more proof that they are nothing alike. The Nintendo Wii U controller is the next gen version of simple remote play.

Except the Wii U controller is only single-touch and can't be used away from your TV/room.

Sometimes I wish Nintendo would stop with the gimmicks or at least make it OPTIONAL so I can play my games in peace without having to move around or look at two different screens....

SilentNegotiator4469d ago

"Except the Wii U controller is only single-touch"

Wait....SERIOUSLY? That is freaking WEAK. How can you have a single touch screen in the year 2012?

N4g_null4468d ago

Nat that is what the 3ds is for??? Monster hunter looks great on it to! And you don't need multi touch because you will be using blind motions on this controller while using the buttons, multi touch is weak and cumbersome it's almost a gimmic when trying to play a real game. What's better than multi touch z tracking and motion tracking. Which this thing has front and back. What is even sadder is a 3ds and wii u gives you two controllers and one you can take with you at a cheaper price almost and I can play old games. Plus we are talking about 15 fps verses 60 lol.

Too bad the quality you get from remote play is crap. Halved framerate, average quality and input lag? No thanks.

Dante1124470d ago (Edited 4470d ago )

The games and features I remote played with the Vita worked pretty damn good.

How dare you use things like proof!!!

Anyway, I expect better compatibility with more features between the PS4 and Vita.

N4g_null4468d ago

Nice vid but where are the games that interact with the tv screen? This is only half the cow and the lame it will be in an update sounds like Sony is over promising again.

Outside_ofthe_Box4470d ago (Edited 4470d ago )

Yeah I use to think that PS3-Vita could rival Wii U. Even though the Wii U isn't out yet, I doubt the quality of remote play would come close to rivaling Wii U.

PS4+Vita might be able to do it though.

kneon4469d ago

Remote play is not really important here, that's not what the Wii U is about.

The controller will typically show different content than on the TV. Sure they could use it essentially as a second screen for a second player but that's not very interesting.

Because the Vita is a console in it's own right that is far more powerful than the Wii U controller it can run a significant workload locally without taxing the PS3.

farhad2k84470d ago

My remote play games also worked really well. It can easily compete against the Wii-U, but I like them separately for their own reasons!

I haven't put the VITA down ONCE since I got it, and my bank balance doesn't like it one bit! :P

gamingisnotacrime4470d ago

Your bank balace cam suck it
The vita is awesome
What ga,es you playing?

sikbeta4470d ago

To bad this is not going anywhere, I mean, as cool as it sounds, for the complete userbase of the PS3, just a tiny percentage of them will buy a Vita...

At Least with the Wii-U, the ipad-controller comes with the console, so all people will use it...

kneon4469d ago

Yup, that is the real issue here. The Wii motion control would never have taken off like it did if it wasn't shipped with every Wii.

So while the Vita is more powerful than the Wii U controller and could be used for more things I doubt we will see it used in that manner very often. Unless of course it sells like crazy.

On the other hand if the Wii U ships at something like $450 or more then Sony could release a PS3+vita bundle for $400 or less as the cost of both will have come down by then.

mechanicleman4469d ago

All you have to do is have the PS VITA and you get a Wii-U like experience

DrRichtofen4470d ago

It does remote play for BF3 pretty good

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Even Red Dead

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

I just wish sony would make this possible, without the CFW. But if people can hack it to play ps3 games from remote play I'm sure sony could program it.

Titanz4470d ago

Wait until the Wii U launches to judge.

Dante1124470d ago

I agree, way too early. Lmao at the sudden dislikes in that youtube video I linked. That wasn't even my video XD.

Yangus4470d ago (Edited 4470d ago )

100%
Agree

Wii U ONE system and better hardware!

Iceman X4470d ago

Remote play is nothing new it was in the PSP and the quality of remote of entirely based on your internet connection from A - the house the Ps3 is in and B - the internet connection where you are remote playing from. Modem/router needs to be configured also to get the best out of remote play. So to the guys that said input lag etc go do more research to figure out your problem.

Knight_Cid4470d ago (Edited 4470d ago )

Except the wii u is one system

Am I going to spend close to 600 dollars for a ps3 vita combo that really wont be as good because of lag?

not to mention there was a list out there of 50 things the wii u can do that this combo cant

GribbleGrunger4470d ago (Edited 4470d ago )

no. if you're one of the 62 million PS3 owners, you only have to buy the Vita. that's a big market for devs to overlook in my opinion and if Sony aren't already approaching devs and asking them to make the Vita/PS3 combo version of any WiiU games their making, then that would be a big oversight on Sony's part.

if i was a dev i'd want to get as much out of releasing a new game as i could. there will probably be at least 2 million owners of both the PS3 and the Vita when the WiiU releases... so it seems stupid to release to an audience of less than a million when you could cover your losses by releasing it to those duel owners. surely that is obvious?

Knight_Cid4470d ago (Edited 4470d ago )

And are you saying all 62 million ps3 owners are buying vitas buy the time the wii u launches?

Not to MENTION IT CANT BE DONE. Not that it wont. It cant. The vita was not designed to be a second screen for ps3 games. Secondly. What dev is going to go through that hassle.

A feature is one thing. But when thats the entire console. Thats another thing
