The year, like in most other places, goes out with a bit of a whimper in Japan following the massive action that occurs in mid December. January is still a strong month, but individual weeks won't be substantially better than this one for quite some time going forward, and this week saw a huge drop from the previous two weeks in December.

My top 3 are Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64. Mario Odyssey is also excellent, and I enjoyed Sunshine but didn't care for the Galaxy series.
Even if the eShop has now closed down, the best 3DS games are still worth playing — in any way you can get your hands on them.
