Impressions of the The Old Republic Beta (GameFront)

GameFront, "The Old Republic is one of the most hyped games of the year, and after spending a weekend with the beta, I had the opportunity to see what all the fuss was about for myself. Because I’ve always been one to eat from the buffet table rather than commit to ordering a single meal, I created a half dozen characters, but sank most of my time into a Sith Marauder that I quested up to level 12."

I did the beta weekend. Apart from the technical issues, I thought it was very solid mmo. Nothing revolutionary though. I wish they had public quests though.

the beta was fun. i will play it after the game gets patched up maybe a year into release. the community was awful, full of WOW haters who cared more about dissing wow than having constructive conversation about the new game they should be enjoying.

i don't really like the companion system, it seems they ramp up the difficulty to require you to use your companion, and sending your companion off to do all your professions takes the fun out of it. but its still early and wow has shown how much an MMO can change. i love star wars, obviously my name is admiral thrawn on here, so i will be giving it a fair chance at some point

It's a masterpiece in nearly every aspect.

Problem is, it copies way too much from WoW. So I probably wont touch it.

so in essence, wow is a masterpiece to you?

I loved this game and have played since launch but don't let this article fool you, this game is a step above life support. While they are still technically updating the game, the updates are few and far between and there is a significant lack of quality control, so many little bugs that have been present for years.

The updates felt flimsy to me also. Stopped playing in 2021.

This game got a huge update last year didn't it with more content?

PapaBop426d ago

They promoted it as an expansion yet offered like 3-4 hours of content. The game is amazing and easily one of the best Star Wars games ever made but content drops are so few and far between.
