I don't wanna be a video-game hero anymore

Games rarely allow us to take the role of anyone but the hero. The other side of that line offers a glimpse of something unique.

Its strange how video-games rarely emphasise the importance of family. Mafia 2 is the only game I think of which does so, and also Red Dead Redemption near the end. Otherwise...nope.

Oh man, that is a fantastic idea. Too bad Nintendo would never do that outside of Smash Bros, but that'd make for a cool Mario-RPG-like game.

Crazy gunmen start from extreme cases of emotion (agression, depression, etc).

The author is just interested in playing a game from a different perspective. To see whether or not if through the eyes of a villain would they try to justify their rule.

OT: The author could play Overlord, mind you it's pretty average but still you don't play a hero there.

I like games where your not a hero just someone trying to survive and you may have a chance to be hero if you want too...

You'd probably enjoy the stalker series. Word from the wise though - download the complete mod and put it on a hard setting. You'll be fighting for survival in a horrible open world soon enough while doing morally horrible things like following packs of npcs and clipping them when they're near dogs so a fight ensues and you can net the resulting loot.

Postal 2 is a pretty damn great example of not being a hero. In fact I think more games should focus on giving us living worlds like bethesda's and allowing you to just wreak complete havok. But not in a "oh no everyone's panicking" way. I mean in a way that forces disruption to a massive and complicated life system before allowing the system to try and resume in the face of obstruction.

Kind of how skyrim has relatives take over the stores of people you kill. But again skyrim shoehorns you into the role of a hero. I want something where there's a massive amount of depth to being a complete and utter bastard. From scavenging supplies for bombs to completely destructable buildings.

There are a few "evil" games that I enjoyed.
The Deception series for Playstation, Dungeon Keeper series and Evil Genius for PC. Can't really think of any other games like that.
