Americas Preorders Chart, 10 September 2011 - Gears 3, MW3 Lead

"Overview - There are no games in the top 20 to be in its final week before launch. The top five games include Gears of War 3 (X360), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360), Battlefield 3 (X360), Star Wars: The Old Republic (PC), and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (X360). The top three games have 500,000 or more pre-orders, the same as last week, and the top 14 has 200,000 or more pre-orders, up from 11 last week. Four games add 50,000 or more pre-orders, up from two last week and 12 add 20,000 or more, up from nine last week."

Its sad to see uncharted 3 almost have the same amount of preorders as Halo combat evolved.

This is America. 360 is the dominant HD console. Of course PS3 games will have much lower pre-orders and overall sales.

I think Uncharted 2 had less preorders and look how that did, almost 5 million units. I guarantee you that Uncharted 3 will outperform 2. Preorders don't mean shit, I don't know why people don't see that.

The last Call of Duty game didn't exactly do so well in terms of performance on the PS3/PC front. Why would some people take another chance and risk it?

It's also no secret that Call of Duty is more associated with the Xbox brand than any other brand...Microsoft advertises the hell out of this game, like it is exclusively available there. Map packs go there first.

This has also been said but, despite Call of duty being the best selling game on both platforms, there are more shooters for PS3 gamers out there to get their hands on, like Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3, instead of getting just Call of Duty.

Black Ops sold 10 million units on the PS3, making it the best-selling PS3 game of all time and the only PS3 title to reach 10 million units sold.

I'm glad to see more and more PS3 gamers are drawing away from COD. I really do think that after MW3, COD will start cooling off (especially if the whole arch MW storyline is resolved cause I think the Cliff-hangers are what kept people coming back). Then again, Blops sold more than MW2 so what do I know, lol.

its sad that COD can sell millions of yearly installments and a game like Skyrim struggles to 1 mil preorders :(

Why is it sad? I'm not pre-ordering MW3 myself but I don't understand why it's sad. People are getting what they want. I'm guessing here but isn't MW3's budget much higher when you factor in advertising and everything?

Forza Motorsport 4 made it to the list! Nice! At first I thought no Forza game would ever make it to the pre-order list... But, there it is!

And damn, just like that, MW3 hits 1million pre-orders. Not surprised really. One thing I do want to ask though, where the hell was/is Resistance 3? I never saw it top pre-order charts. I know pre-orders don't really mean much and these are only American, but come on. Hopefully it sells well.

It's no wonder why PS3 versions get shafted with these numbers.

X360 = 11/20
PS3 = 7/20
PC = 1/20
Wii = 1/20

Even though EA are sucking Sonys balls with BF3 it's hilarious to see the 360 version out selling it. Marketing campaign towards the PS3 is failing EA.

Then again it's a multi-platform game and they are usually better on the 360 any ways.

MW3 set a million pre-order sales, it just comes to show that the "CHW" (Cod hate wagon) is really only existent on gaming sites like this, and while people were running they're mouth about boycotting cod.(again) and bashing cod at every feasible moment. The rest of the world was pre-ordering and snuck up to 1,069,948 sales.
