What do you guys think of the severe lack of hype for Twisted Metal?

jsslifelike4701d ago

I'm not entirely sure TM fits with the current evolutionary stage of game design, to be honest.

DarkTower8054701d ago

I honestly thought the same thing. TM:B was my favorite game for a long time, but I wasn't sure if it would fit in todays market. After seeing the gameplay I totally changed my mind. It looks so fun, and I hope it gets the proper marketing.

EVILDEAD3604701d ago

I've said this from day one..Twisted Metal should have made the E3 stage this year as well. Even a new trailer would have worked with some new announcements on added gameplay features.

The game absolutely looks great and Jaffe seems pretty stoked about how it's all coming together, but I still feel like you have to present games of this nature as a priority to the public. Because if they don't feel like it's a priority then they get overlooked at retail.

Twisted Metal drops the same day as Rage and Dark Souls in October. Sony has plenty of time but they need to put some effort in ensuring the gaming public is more excited about the game or it may suffer Motorstorm: Apocolype's fate.

Car combat games this gen have had a rough go at it as of late. Don't look farther than Blur or even Split/Second for an indication. Even with the nostalgia factor and what looks like epic boss battles and fresh gameplay ideas Twisted Metal needs some better press going forward.

Just my humble take

Team play doesn't fit the current evolutionary stage of game design?

the fuck?

jsslifelike4700d ago (Edited 4700d ago )

Maybe that doesn't make much sense, I'll give you that, but watching the E3 footage and playing it last year still made me think, "wow- the 90's were fun, weren't they?" I never once wanted to re-experience it, just reminisce.

Old game
People forgot about it
If it gets good reviews people will buy it

consolez_FTW4701d ago (Edited 4701d ago )

No, how is this game old, hasn't even released yet.
People forgot about this...no just no
This is Twisted Metal! I'm pretty sure review scores won't stop fans of the series from buying this! In fact, I can't wait for TM!

EDIT: Sometimes I wonder if Loner and Warprincess know each other..Like all the trolls on N4G discuss how to be the most annoying.

-Alpha4701d ago (Edited 4701d ago )

It's an old name, but the game is entirely new

It's getting lost in the Sea of 2011, but it's certainly on my radar. Jaffe has put in a lot of work and this is clear to anyone who has played TMB.

BubbleSniper4701d ago

lol.. reviews. Loner do you buy games based on reviews?

if i listened to reviews, i'd have never tried gems like Secret of Evermore.

i didn't listen to reviews as a kid and i won't start now

chidori6664701d ago (Edited 4701d ago )

game looks OK,But I expected better graphics..and it looks like it’ll be fun. But I remain sceptic at this point.

BubbleSniper4701d ago (Edited 4701d ago )

what do I think!? did you not see sweet tooth's ice cream truck turn intoa freaking transformer?!

this is high on the to-buy list just because of that.

i also get that old-school vibe with fresh paint and can easily see something new all over the place.

this is the evolution of TM. it's not trying to be anything else but what it is.. Twisted Metal.

kill that shit, Jaffeeeee

ElementX4701d ago (Edited 4701d ago )

I think submitting your own article, being the first to comment, and asking your viewers what they think is LAME!

On the other hand, you are cute ;)

As for lack of Twisted Metal hype... I think it's bad news. The videos I saw looked alright, but definitely not PS3 exclusive quality graphics.

I wouldn't say there is a lack of hype for this game. People at E3 seemed very excited about this title. I know I'm really looking forward to it.

-Alpha4701d ago

It's just lost in the shuffle:

October alone has Dark Souls, BF3, Arkham City, Rage, and Forza

Hard not to see why Twisted Metal may have a lack of hype with all the focus on those titles but it's surely on my list and the game looks incredible

SoapShoes4700d ago

I don't see much hype for Rage or Forza. The other three, yes, but those two have about the same hype as Twisted Metal.

Inside_out4701d ago

.
TBH, I think the first showing was a disaster. People were shocked at how bad it was, I know I was and they voiced their opinion about it as well forcing David Jaffe to be all defensive about it.

I did see some recent footage and it looks far better than I thought it would and actually, I think this game could surprise many...it looks like a lot of fun.

David Jaffe was ranting recently about how things have changed at Sony and I think the pressure may be getting to him a bit. Hopefully, he can hold it together till the game launches and gets some sales.

Why this guy is not making a multi-platform game at this point is beyond me as his loyalty to Sony seems to be from a forgotten era and game from long ago. If this game fails it will be a personal catastrophe for opinionated Jaffe...no pressure david. ;D

Hot Show As Always man keep it gangsta peace

BX814701d ago

LMAO. One bubble? It's gettin rough. I've never been a fan of twisted metal, I wouldn't even look twice at one of the games. How ever this game looks pretty sweet. It doesn't have the best graphics for a PS3 exclusive but the fun factor seems to be there.

Josh Sawyer Reflects on Design Evolution: From Icewind Dale to Pentiment

Josh Sawyer is a name that has been familiar to RPG fans for decades. He's worked on Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights 2, Alpha Protocol, Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, and most recently Pentiment. How did he get into game development, how has his design philosophy changed over the years, and why did he decide to do Pentiment a little differently?

thorstein13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

Those are some great games. Icewind Dale I & II are underrated.

If Larian made Icewind Dale III, I'd lose my mind.

What a fantastic, thorough interview.
