S**t...did he just say F**K HALO!?!?

God Of War creator and Twisted Metal legend David Jaffe updated his blog, which reads:

"Here's a conversation on IM between myself and Adam Orth, designer at Sony who worked with me on TM:Black, Calling All Cars. He also worked on some of the Medal of Honor games over at EALA. Enjoy! "

"Adam Orth, designer at Sony who worked with me on TM:Black, Calling All Cars"..THIS is the a@@hole who said F halo not jeff

even if halo is hyped, than it deserved it, becuase there is no first party exculsive in console can rival it

HALO2 : 3 weeks before this release, a record 1.5 million copies had already been pre-ordered .The game sold 2.4 million copies and earned up to US$125 million in its first 24 hours on store shelves(xbox instal base around 20M)

GOD OF WAR 2 :In North America, by the end of March 2007, the game had SOLD over 833,209 units(relased 13 march)(PS2 instal base over 110M)

few days ago-when lair got bad reviews- sony said customer is what mater, and seems customer like HALO that is why they HYPE IT and buy it

@blow: "microsoft being scared to show that PCs are much more capable than consoles" BUT is not PC also MS PLATFORM ????

brodels6089d ago (Edited 6089d ago )

seriously, the only reason why the halo series is big is because it streamlined online gameplay on consoles to the masses... which i'm not saying isn't a big deal, but at the same time, pc shooters like the half-life 2 series blows halo away in everything - graphics, story, online play (that's a matter of opinion, but counter-strike ftw), gameplay (introduced the gravity gun, had some cool puzzles and great action, the gameplay's just rediculous). People make such a big deal about halo, but I really don't see why... pick up a pc shooter - mouse + keyboard controls are so much more precise than dual-analogs.

which leads me to another thing... every wonder why Halo games take over a year after its console release to come out with a much inferior pc version? it may have something to do with microsoft being scared to show that PCs are much more capable than consoles =x

mighty_douche6089d ago (Edited 6089d ago )

counter strike : source is easily the greatest online shooter, no fancy weapons, no fancy graphics, no 14 year old americans spamming the mic... just a perectly balanced game which requires alot of skill. a shoot in the face is death whether its an AK47 or UMP. anyone who dismisses CS:S obviously hasnt played it or just sucks ass on it! CS:S 2 please valve!!!

also still after 5 years the most played online FPS, console fans seem to forget pc was there first and still does it much much better!

edit @ Genki, thanks for the support, im sure many will disagree purely because they havent tried pc FPS gaming and/or are just xbox fanboys. i totally agree with keyboard and mouse, move from one side of the screen to the other in the flick of the wrist rather than waiting for your cross to move around the screen at a pre-determined rate! if your just getting into pc gaming i urge you to pick up CS:S (get it from 'steampowered.com' about $20) its hard going to start but once you start pwning you'll never wanna stop! if you want my steam ID pm me and me and the clan will help you out!

Genki6089d ago

I'm a die-hard console fan, and I'll be the first one to agree with you: PC shooters do it much better than consoles. This is coming from someone who's been playing console shooters for much longer than PC by the way. I played the Halos, the Goldeneyes, Turoks, Medals of Honor, and pretty much any other notable shooter you can think of for a console(not my favorite genre, but most friends are crazy for 'em), and I think none of them hold a candle to what's offered on the PC.

I'd played things like Doom and Duke Nukem before, but I never owned a PC shooter myself until F.E.A.R. Not only was I blown away by the game itself, but the precision of a mouse is a real difference maker. Especially with a game like F.E.A.R. where the A.I. really gives you a run for your money. I do think that a stick with full range of motion and sensitivity is better than a keyboard for movement, but the mouse just KILLS a stick for aim and look.

FirstknighT6089d ago

I myself was a rabid PC fan/shooter. Started with Counterstrike than moved on with Battlefield 1942, Soldier of Fortune, Black Hawk Down, Wolfenstein, Quake 3, and my personal fav. Unreal 2004. I also played alot of console fps multiplayer games like Goldeneye, Turok, and Perfect Dark and I always backed up my PC gaming. Atleast until Halo came out. The LAN parties was so much fun. And when Halo 2 added multiplayer play over Xbox Live...well it was a whole different world. I stopped playing Unreal 2004 almost immediately.

Genki6089d ago

Halo 2 LAN parties are a complete blast. Used to play all the time from last summer up until about spring this year. Halo is most definitely a very fun experience, but IMO, it's a far cry from a game like F.E.A.R. on PC. Still one of my all time favorite shooters. I'll admit, Halo has WAY BETTER multiplayer than F.E.A.R. did...the game just suffered from some terribly unacceptable balance issues(hearkened back to the Doom days of weapons), but as a game itself, blows Halo(and any console shooter for that matter) out of the water.

2 years later and I've still yet to see better A.I. than F.E.A.R.

2 years later and there(naturally) isn't a console shooter with control as tight as F.E.A.R.'s

That's why I feel the way I do. To me, aiming precision is absolutely paramount in an FPS. A stick just can't hold a candle to a mouse in that regard, especially with the sweet laser offerings we've gotten from Logitech over the past couple years as well. As long as the mouse reigns supreme in this regard, then I, as a dedicated console gamer first, will hold the PC FPS above most any console shooter.

FirstknighT6089d ago (Edited 6089d ago )

The problems with the mouse is that players that have the lazer over the optic will easily have the advantage. I for one was getting my ass handed to me in Unreal 2004 until I upgraded my mouse to a fancy expensive lazer mouse. My aiming was MUCH smoother and I started to rack up the kills. With Halo 2 or any other console game, you have an even playing field since the majority use the same controller. Plus it takes a lil more patience and skill to kill using your thumb than moving your entire wrist with a mouse.

Genki6089d ago

Just like how it takes a little more skill and patience to remove a stain with water and a toothbrush than it does with a cleaning agent and a scrub brush. Sorry, but I'm a firm believer in using the most optimal tool for the most optimal performance. I didn't stick with Cloud's Buster Sword in FF7 in case you were wondering.

I just don't see the whole "mice are for newbs" argument.

For aiming, whether it's a ball, optical, or laser mouse, a mouse is simply the BETTER tool for the job. There's pro photographers out there that use point and shoot cameras for their pictures. Doesn't mean that a pro-level DSLR is for "newbs", or particularly less skilled photographers either.

I think it's very difficult to make a case against a mouse when it comes to aiming precision and versatility. Argue thumb skill vs wrist skill, level playing field etc. etc. all you want, but whether you're playing for fun or to win, you want the best tool for the job.

That's the way I see it anyway.

JsonHenry6089d ago

Dude, I have been preaching for YEARS that Halo is at best a Mediocre game on a console that was starved for a decent FPS.

Anyone in PC gaming had been playing better games than Halo for years.

Although I have to say I am looking forward to playing Halo 3. Maybe the hype has had an effect on me as well.

Robeezy6088d ago (Edited 6088d ago )

I've been a PC gamer since the beginning, and i still think Quake 2 had some of the best multiplayer ever. To say you just don't get Halo is one thing and thats ok, but you have to understand that this game does have something special when millions of players get this hyped to play it. I just don't get why people have to put it down so much. So it has a big following so what? Isn't that a good thing that games have become this huge and the community is so active?

WilliamRLBaker6088d ago (Edited 6088d ago )

lol Counter strike has no 14 year olds? you must not have ever played counter strike in ur life.

The only reason counter strike now weither it be CS source or 1.6 is because servers are exclusive if you talk and you sound young they ban your ip, because the servers are user made, when it first started it was filled with 14 year olds, and guess what:) the majority of retards online aren't 14 years old they are actually older, its just people like you that label them as 14 so you can say this game doesn't have 14 year olds when in reality there are just as many griefers on the lax security severs as any other game.

And its perfectly balanced? let alone the fact it takes one way and one way only to win any CS game, Designate one person on ur team as the flash bang user, have him throw flash bangs as he goes out, follow along and kill every one he blinds, Thats it thats how you win, and It still has cheaters out the yin yang, they've had to update the hell out of it to get it to the supposed *perfection* you seem to say it is....*by the way alot of servers use anti cheat buster...shows you how many cheaters the game has in that user made servers have to use cheat buster type anti cheating to keep others from cheating*

Genki: and the simple fact remains that with a pc whomever spends the most money has the biggest advantage, money on a net connection, money on a super rig so they get no latency, money on a hyper mouse...ect

It takes no skill beyond learning weapon spawn times and taking advantage of ingame abbilities and shortcommings, Where as on a console I have to learn the best way to play with a controller, I have to work on my reaction time...ect some thing you dont need if you have the best of the best of the best on a computer.

Halo is over-hyped but its a great franchise.

@ Mr Marbles....

I think you have lost yours? as where on earth did I make a platform statement for you to reply too!

Mr Marbles6089d ago (Edited 6089d ago )

because one could say the same thing about the PS3, it is ok but overhyped. After all, the 360 has more games, better user interface, 104 demos on xbl, and about a thousand freakin arcade games, and even TV shows and movies. While the PS3 has a few late arriving ports and a bunch of time consuming updates that would take seconds to do on a 360. Yet you dont see these guys pointing out how the PS3 is over hyped because everyone claims it is the only true next gen system, and supposedly has soooo much power; power to do what I ask, collect dust?

@ riksweeny
That is not the point, the point is, IT HAS FAR FEWER GAMES, yet we are still told it is a superior console in everyway, Sony is selling consoles based purely on hype! You guys who payed more for it did so because Sony told you it would be worth the extra cost when it launched because it would be far superior to the competition, it is by far not, therefor it was overhyped.

riksweeney6089d ago

@Mr Marbles

Saying that the Xbox 360 has more games than the PS3 is like saying there are more titles on DVD than there are HD-DVD / Blu-Ray.

The PS3 and Wii haven't been out as long as the 360, therefore they have less games.

IPlayGames6089d ago

1st whos talking about ps3 this is about halo.

2nd out of all the games on 360 how many of them are worth playing??

VirusE6089d ago

Iplaygames i own a ps3 and a 360 and in my opinion there are a ton of games worth playing on the 360. Using the copout "but the xbox has been out longer" caries no weight. At this moment in time regardless of the reason the xbox 360 has more games worth playing. That is fact. That does not mean the ps 3 isn't a killer system and doesn’t have killer games because it is a killer system and it does have killer games. I have owned over 20 games for my 360 and I have owned 2 for the ps3. Next year I feel it will be different but at this single moment in time the 360 does offer much more to do. So is it over-hyped? For THE MOMENT yes but time is a dynamic thing and I feel this WILL change.

At the end of the day Jaffe is a halo fan and I think that says a lot. How’s about instead of hating halo 3 because it is on the xbox360 some of the sony fans try the game with an open mind and then form an opinion. I played the beta and it was a blast, I don’t see how any self respecting gamer could not have fun playing….. well unless you suck real bad at halo.

ukilnme6089d ago

I think some Sony fans will approach Halo 3 with an open mind. It's the Fanboys that will say it sucks with out even trying it.

wageslave6088d ago (Edited 6088d ago )

2.6 - ATTENTION RIKSWEENEY
I created an account just for the purpose of dispelling your FUD. It is totally and completely wrong.

The Xbox 360 has more games, and will continue to have more (and better) games because Microsoft treated the Developer Community as its customer. They created a Development Environment, Toolkit and Tools to make development more productive. The PS3 is (well known now) unnecessarily convoluted and difficult to write games for.

Our favorite geek developer, John Carmack has said, on more than one occasion that the Xbox 360 development chain is far superior. Developer after developer comes out and says the same thing. The games that are available for both (say, Madden, EA NHL08 and others) have the Xbox 360 version performing better and getting better reviews. Why? Because the Xbox 360 is a superior platform to develop for.

All that said, lets move on to your assertion about Xbox 360 titles only being a product of the Xbox 360 beating PS3 to market. Also inaccurate.

Xbox 360 has 101 games rated 75 / 100 or better, it has been out 22 months. That is 4.5 75% or better games to choose from per month.
From http://www.metacritic.com/g...

PS3 has 30 games rated 75 / 100 or better, has been out 10 months. That is 3.0 75% or better games to choose from per month.
http://www.metacritic.com/g...

The "oh, Xbox 360 had a lead" notion doesn't wash. Sony has had a year to bring the great games, and Microsoft has been out-pacing them and the gap (as with the install base) is steadily widening.

Jaffe did a good job with God of War, there is no doubt about that. But the gaming community preferred -- and still prefers -- the Halo series. Halo gets all this attention because its a GREAT GODDAMN game.

His (and the rest of the Sony Defense Force around here) jealousy is starting to show. The Xbox 360 -- and its owners -- are doing very well, and the future looks even brighter.

Well I guess if you are a big time producer like David Jaffe is and your name attach to the tittle God of War then you could pretty much say anything.

JokesOnYou6089d ago (Edited 6089d ago )

some people are so quick to flame they simply read the headline and assume they know what their talking about only to make a ass of themselves, btw who gives a damm what "Adam" or sonykids think, its not like anyone who wants to play Halo3 is going to change their mind because of this guy, ha ha the wierd part is it sounded like this guy was trying toooo hard to be the "cool rebel",

yeah talking to Jaffe I guess he's lookin for a little attention by saying fk Halo, everybody wants to be the toughguy these days, its funny too, because Jaffe basicly lectures him and says that MOH which he worked on wasnt nearly as great as he was making it out to be, the sad part is he eventually agreed and blamed EA= ha ha lmfao, this guy is so desperate for attention he isn't even sure of what he believes.=

JOY

Keowrath6089d ago

Wait, Jokesonyou... Just because someone doesn't like Halo makes them a "Sonykid"?

Quote "some people are so quick to flame they simply read the headline and assume they know what their talking about only to make a ass of themselves"

Nice going dude.

HeartlesskizZ6089d ago

JAFFE: sweet- sadly it will rile up halo fans...hope they see that I DO LIKE HALO! I just don't get the religious fervor and feel much of the fervor has been purchased by Microsoft. But they'll still hate me.

It takes alot to critizise a game like Halo knowing your need an ativirus for all the fan spam coming to you but then again id D-jeff.

wageslave6088d ago

You know what has been purchased? Millions and Millions of copies of Halo. Pre-orders for Halo 3 are at a record, and will probably be the single-largest consumer media event in history.

Halo is a great series, and Halo 3 looks terrific. What I find is that there is a vocal anti-halo brigade from the Sony Defense Force types who simply want to bad mouth it because its on Xbox 360 and no possible chance it will come to PS3.

Want to know why it has so many fans? Because it is great, and it has A LOT of fans. Its just that damn simple. If you dont like it fine, no worries, but the fact remains that the first two got stellar reviews, was loved by players and sold very very well.

Halo 3 will be the biggest game of the 4th quarter, probably be one of the best selling games of the year, and you know why? Because it's a great series, and everyone knows that Microsoft has a lot riding on Halo 3 and its assured to be terrific.

Dont take my word for it, no ones played except the MP beta; lets wait until we see some reviews and/or play it ourselves m'kay? If its like Halo and Halo 2, I'll be damned happy.

THUNDERMARE6089d ago (Edited 6088d ago )

Well some one got balls to say this to an specially protected game like Halo. To many people its almost a sin to say that Halo suck, but well, got to respect those people.
In my opinion, I will not start any flame about Halo because I think it is useless to convince Halo fan otherwise, it goes the same way when people try to convince me that FF suck.

However, Jaffe didnt say that, in case some idiot fan boys dont read the whole thing.

Edit: 40 min after I posted my reply, I came back I noticed that many people actually didnt read the blog, well what should I say? (refer to my earlier post)
In your face?

Edit: Somebody disagree humm.. now what did I say?

DwightOwen6089d ago

It looks like very few actually READ the blog.

The 7 Best Xbox 360 Games - Console Exclusives Win the Day

The Xbox 360 was a fantastic console in its day with some truly classic titles, but what are the seven best games for the console?

DrDoomer163d ago

I'm pretty used to these lists being bad, but this one is particularly s#ite.

raWfodog163d ago

I think Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon should have been added to the list.

BrainSyphoned163d ago

I'll go with,
Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Culdcept Saga, Shadow Complex, Ace Combat 6 with the flight stick,A Kingdom for Keflings, A World of Keflings.
Bonus Kinect Games: Happy Action Theater and Sesame Street.
*Skyrim was so bad on PS3 that it almost deserves to be #1*

Husker42c163d ago

I really loved Shadow Complex.

P_Bomb163d ago

Ah yes, Shadow Complex! Good indies back in the day. Summer of Arcade. I enjoyed Trials Evolution as well.

ChasterMies163d ago (Edited 163d ago )

Was this made by a.i.? No human being would put Shadowrun, Fable III, and Splinter Cell: Conviction into a list of the 7 best Xbox 360 games.

Abnor_Mal163d ago (Edited 163d ago )

Would love to play Ace Combat6 on PlayStation, but Xbox decided to buy exclusivity and keep it off a competing platform.

The only mainline game I never played except for one level at a friends place. Game sold less than any other in the series if I remember correctly.

darthv72163d ago

360 had Namco hitters AC6 and RR6... both quality titles. You should at least bust out the 360 for AC6 if you can score the flight stick. Its great.

When the current gen XBOX offering is so lacking people need to refer to games released two generations back....

Profchaos162d ago (Edited 162d ago )

It's a nostalgia peice same reason we get thousands of YouTube videos on sega genisis. Something people have fond memories for but the era is long gone.

It's xboxs golden year imo it was their genisis years the time where they stuck it to the market leaders Sony.

BehindTheRows162d ago

They stuck nothing. Sony screwed themselves giving Xbox an opening. They would have gotten the usual smack down if the PS3 had launched at $399 and was easier to develop for.
