I just came back from EB games to order one more copy of Halo 3 and to pick up the text pad for the controller I was told Halo 3 parties are going to be everywhere the EB I go to have restaurants staying open for midnight launch and there will be activities like Marine Boot camp sh8t set up etc.

After the beta fiasco only the most diehard Halo fans care about this mess.

Last gen graphics.
Totally botched online.
Failed to give gamers dedicated servers like on PCs or the PS3.
Embarrassingly low player counts with only 16 - only Gears of War had a worse player count.

For a company expecting us to pay them 50 dollars every year just to play this game online it should be above and beyond all other online titles.

60 bucks is way to much for just a slightly higher rez version of last gen's Halo. The question Bungie needs to answer is what the hell have they been doing for the last three years? Didn't bother to upgrade the networking, the graphics engine is virtually the same, and the gameplay tweaks/additions are nothing that should have taken this long to add.

4/10 is a reasonable score for such a amazingly weak effort.

Graphics 3/10:

Halo 3 is easily the worst looking fps of 2007. Haze, UT3, CoD4 all look like next gen games. Whereas Halo 3 looks like Halo 2 running in a higher rez.

Networking 3/10:

Halo 3 has the worst online setup. No dedicated servers, only 16 players per game, 50 dollars a year for P2P is an insult to gamers.

Gameplay 5/10:

Basically same old Halo as last gen with a variety of minor additions or tweaks.

Sound 5/10:

No uncompressed high quality audio. No 7.1 surround.

Overall, a 4/10 score for Halo 3. 60 bucks is way too much money for such a weak effort for anyone but diehard Halo fans.

you know theres more to online than playing halo exclusively.

Why not lets talk about how easy it is to find friends online in halo3 considering as you say it will just be the same thing.

Warhawk though good, is running into many issues reguarding connection issues btw. Myself and many others have had issues just like with xbl being disconected from games. Also You cant freaking invite anyone to your game like you can with xbl(one downside with many ps3 games, and if you do you have to retype their freaking names jsut to invite them like in resistance).

And yeah halo had issues, but as for online games, i found it a lot more entertaining than resistance. But thats just me.

You see halo online though theres only 16 seems way much entertaining. Probably mostly being the vehicles.

now granted this is me, i do enjoy resistance, but the online matches just seem to hectic to me. You think playing with kids on halo is bad, well 24 more people would be a nightmare. At least for halo.
though it would be different with graw 1 and 2. Though you can only play 16 at one time it plays pretty well.

as for graphics, well yes halo doesn't have the best graphics and its supposed to be bright and vibrant.

i have a challenge for you. Tell me one PS2 game at the time that could compete with halo 2 online.

as for halo 3 you know maybe it wont be up to par with what everyone is saying, but that could be said about any game. If i sad the same thing about killzone 2 you would have a fit. Granted i am excited about that game but lets keep things in perspective.

If the graphics aren't the best ill live. If it doesn't have 7.1 surround sound ok. 99 percent of people don't even have that let alone a 5.1 system and adding to that they probably don't even have a digital all connection for it.

But wtf do i know? I just want to enjoy games from the PS3 360 and wii and i don't jack off to graphics or sound though i like them.

to tell with some of the giddyness, I got a feeling Halo 3 will be better than 1. Take what made Halo 1 great, and triple that.

I know everyone was a little dissappointed with Halo 2. Of course that was expected, when MS bought Bungie, then all the sudden expected another killa/successful game, in a short amount of time. The story fell off and Halo fans sense something was wrong. Even I, at the end.

Halo 2 still had great multi-player and a great soundtrack(for VGmusic lovers out there). I think, Bungie learned from some of the pitfalls that plagued the last game and is bent on getting it right, in this "Final Fight".

I'm hoping it'll be on par with Gears or Bioshock, but thats a lot to ask for a game on the scale of H3.

the thing most people realize is that halo has an incredible amount of vehicles and scale that pushes the memory to the max. Which is why Halo 3 sp/mp doesn't look like bioshock or gears. Those games are very close quarters, high res. textures, and incredible character animation.

Halo 3 is no slouch by any means. Just that you've got to understand you can only do so much with what you have.

The 360 does have some noticeable limits, and from the looks of it Bungie is doing the best they can on the hardware at hand. I wonder what the performance of this title would've been like if it was built on Sony's platform though; Killzone matched its CGI trailer...and the CGI trailer for Halo 3 (pictured up above) was absolutely kickass. Eh well, one can hope.

I totally get why people are crazy for the Halo multi-player, but I've always been the type of gamer who gets more satisfaction out of single-player experiences. This is why, sad to say, I'm not all that excited for Halo 3. Halo was a really solid, if a bit repetitive, console shooter for it's time - definitely raised the bar for the genre on consoles technically more so than graphically. But I didn't find the story or characters particularly compelling - I think as a first chapter, getting you immersed in the universe it could have worked well.

But then came Halo 2. I know like a bazillion of you love it so you probably don't all agree, but the single player was pretty weak sauce. The story got extremely convoluted, and playing as the Arbiter was almost intolerable. It definitely played better, faster etc - they got a lot more juice out of the engine, but it seemed like they spent too much time recording celebrity voice cameos and not enough time in other areas. Basically I think the success of Halo went to their heads a bit - it would have been hard for it to not.

Had the Halo 2 campaign really kicked it up a notch I think I'd be psyched for Halo 3 - preordered and all. But as it stands I'm fine waiting till I can pick up a used copy on the cheap and play through it after I'm done with the dozen other games coming out in the next 6 months that I can't wait to play. And yea, im like that to. Usually esp with the Halo games, there are wayyy too many nerds on it, that theres no point in playing it online, instead i just get it to play single-player and now coop campaign. But for you to say you only play single player games and say that Halo's story isnt all exciting, then Id like to know besides the obvious ones like Half-Life and FEAR(not soo much, but there is), what other console game has the depth of story, character, imagination and detail, as well as a great voicing cast.

Now true, true, i think no one, including myself liked Halo 2's single player, even Bungie said, they really screwed up single player in Halo 2, mainly because of playing as the Arbiter for half the game, and the ending just screamed "HOLY $H^7". But all that aside, if what you say is you like stories, if you get rid of all the bad Halo 2 was, focus on the main story that was trying to be portrayed and include Halo:CE, and put them together, you get a great, detailed and continuous story, which in Halo 3, is about to get the ending of a limetime. 7 years of Halo and it has all come down to this, but this is a great story, sci-fi shooter that made us believe in this system called Xbox, and now its all about to end on Xbox 360 on Sept.25th. But im not disagreeing with you, im just saying, the story of it, is the main reason why everyone liked Halo, it was a great story, that was unfinished and many possibilities for continuity, which they sorta got across in Halo 2 and now finishing in Halo 3.

My Cell phone will be off that whole day I do not want to hear or see anything about HALO 3 until I myself have completed the mission.

I just can't take anymore, I need this game so bad I'm going crazy - I am too scared that I will see a spoiler that I try hard not to click on these stories but then I can't help it. It's that bad.

many thought the Beach level in Halo 1 was one of the most immersive and wide open levels ever created in a video game. it was like fighting aliens on the most inviting Hawian beach, then pursuing them thru a forest park, and eventually cornering the vile alien scum in a vast alien underground superstructure. (SWEET)

but this is nothing compared to what halo3 holds in reserve for us to experience. the jungle level reminded me of the beach level,..But on a scale and magnitude that's never been realized in any halo game before it.

I can't wait to see more of the variety, artistic creativity, and compete against the relentless challenge that bungie has engineered into this game.

I'm sure it will make me toss away the 7 year old copy of halo 1 that still rates as one of the most satifying games on xbox1. that I still enjoy playing even untill this very day.

especially now that bungie had the time and resources to make this game what they truly wanted it to be.

and the ability to tailor your own experience, film it, then share it, is second to none.

I used to record the orginal halo on vhs and then take it to the barbar shop on saturday mornings, the entire shop would be fixated on the incredible (legendary) carnage while rooting the Chief to victory. the tape was about 30minutes long, ..

you should have seen the disappointment in the children faces(and adults alike) when video concluded and they had to go back to watching their much less satisfying cartoons or sports programs...btw Ninga Gaiden was another Barbershop favorite.

now in september I'll be able to record and provide a new dvd movie of the game (that will far exceed anything they've ever seen before) to both the barbarshop, and to my manager at the job (who is a halo fan, but unfortunately had to buy a Wii for his casual gaming wife).. to gaze apon in wonder.
