Fallout: New Vegas Week One Sales In

gamrFeed - "With Fable III releasing next week then the onslaught of Call of Duty: Black Ops, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Donkey Kong Country Returns, the final three months of 2010 should see much stronger year-on-year comparisons than the rest of 2010."

I actually prefer it to Fallout 3. The extra humor is more my thing.

bmw694960d ago

I think the Vegas setting works so well

zeeshan4960d ago

We all knew this game would do well but I'd rather see NPD results than the usual epic fail VGC.

NecrumSlavery4960d ago

I expected a little higher slaes number on PS3, but leave it up to Timed DLC to hurt sales. That is a hit on Bethesda, not Sony.

Neckbear4960d ago (Edited 4960d ago )

If anything, New Vegas fixed what I hated about Fallout 3: Bland dialog and retarded storyline, and replaced it with brilliant dialog and an interesting plot.

Still, then I realized what I hated the most of Fallout 3 wasn't the dialog or the storyline, it was the goddamn engine and gameplay. I mean, god, I'm not even a graphics whore, but c'mon. At least fix the shooting.

Hudahudahuda4960d ago

Fallout games remind me of of the GTA games from PS2. They had freaking terrible graphics and animations but they had so much stuff you could do that you didn't care.

dirtydbz4960d ago

you do relise this is an rpg right ( which means you can aim dead on and miss because of a dice roll you don't see) this is why you get better as the game goes on as your skill gets higher you need a lower number to get a hit

Neckbear4960d ago

Yes, I do realize that. Still, look at S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s shooting. Now THAT'S an Action RPG shooting WELL DONE.

@Hudahudahuda

It is not only the graphics, but the fact that the animations could AT LEAST BE DONE BETTER.

But hell, I should say, it's just Fallout 3's premise and presentation that could have AT LEAST BEEN DONE A LITTLE BETTER. Hell, I should say, it's more like GameBryo's Fallouts that simply aren't appealing to me. The whole package is...I don't know how to explain it, but it's something that I simply cannot like.

S4NDM4N4960d ago

Is a FPS with RPG elements.

The quest design is RPG like and so are other things.

But RPGs is when combat is decided by stats.

Fallout is not a RPG FPS.

It might be in first person view, and Bethesda might have shat on the series, but Fallout is a RPG series. Viewpoint doesn't make a difference. VATs is Fallout.

Shooting is Fallout for the new generation

From the gameplay footage I have seen, FO:NV definitely seems to have lost the darker vibe of the wasteland. The enemies and weapons seem cartoonish, even the colour palette makes it seem like it was targeted at a much younger audience.

Oh yeah, and digital sales are not tracked, the fact that FO NV is at the top of the steam sales chart, a service which has 30 million+ users...and the fact that it is only one of many DD services....tells me it sold a lot more than that on PC. PC sales 20% retail, 80% digital.

kancerkid4960d ago

And another piece of evidence that it is targeted at children is you can blow peoples' heads off, and there are hookers...

STONEY44959d ago (Edited 4959d ago )

It's not even the blowing heads off thing though. Compare it to Fallout 1 and 2s very dark and realistic tone, and even Fallout 3 somewhat, and you'll see what he's saying. Yeah, there was still alot of humor in the first two, but it was also done in a much darker way. And some of the stuff happening in the original two were just... sick.

Braineater24484960d ago

Decent sales. Not surprised though.

ssdninja4960d ago

Still amazes me how they release such incredibly glitchy games and no one seems to care

mikepmcc4960d ago

People obviously care, as fans have complained, and critics reflected the bugs in their scores. However, the game is still amazing and most definitely worth playing, so this fact overshadows the bugs. Maybe you should play the game first and judge for yourself instead on jumping on the N4G bandwagon of overreacting to everything.

Hudahudahuda4960d ago

Because the game is good. Glitches or not the game is still amazing and deserves the sales. Certainly better than anything released in the past month that's for damn sure.

gamingisnotacrime4960d ago

7 hours in, not one single bug

my advice: put a fan next to your PS3, keep it cool

dirtydbz4960d ago

I had it frezze up on me yesterday and I am about 8 hours in ( it will happen and I have heard it gets worse the further you get in )

Eiffel4960d ago (Edited 4960d ago )

Anyone get the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion? It's AWESOME.

Games That Were Bad on Release, But Are Now Great

BLG writes, "Some of the most popular games have had a rough start, with some of them being downright unplayable.

Despite that, developers have managed to turn it around for them and make their game worth playing. Here are some games that had a rough start but were pretty great."

Good list..hoped to see Street Fighter 5 there..and it is.

Vits21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.

darthv7221d ago

Several years ago, i submitted an idea to Rare that would change up the mechanics of battling opponents in the game. whereby if you died in battle, you turned into a skeleton warrior and had to fight your way back to the land of the living. It was an interesting twist on respawning and would allow the player to experience both sides of a battle.

I keep hoping to see something like that get added to the game.

Kaii21d ago

They consider FO 76 & ME Andromeda to be great now 🤭

anast20d ago

Every game in the last 2 decades...

INMATEofARKHAM20d ago

It's sad that this quick retort is more often than not true... The industry's acceptance of release and patch has gone too far.

gunnerforlife20d ago

Days gone! By the end of the game I couldn't drop it down! I went around so many hours killing zombies! It was addictive by the end.

S2Killinit20d ago

That game was just plain good game. It didnt improve, it was just good.

gunnerforlife20d ago

I don't know, I got it abit late, and struggled for a few days, and then all of a sudden it just got good!!

Fallout Anthology Edition Looks Pretty S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

The Fallout Anthology Edition is coming to PC very soon, and is packaged with some very S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bonuses.

-Foxtrot42d ago

It’s an awful downgrade to the last one they did

They included physical disc back then
