This reminds me of those certain bitter times in childhood, where you're forced to just stand by empty-handed, and watch that annoying kid next door flaunt the Mr. Softee ice cream cone he was just unjustifiably rewarded...and you weren't.

I suppose that my pre-ordering, and painfully enduring of snail-mail postal shipment, for my headset-bundled copy is the caveat of the sweet CN$40 steal-of-a-price that I paid for the game at Bestbuy.ca.

However, when I do receive it (hopefully before 2007 comes to a close), I'm really fond of the idea of an N4G clan that is being tossed around amongst recent respective threads, and would consider it.

This game is so small (File Size)... how many maps for this game? I heard this game have huge maps, etc... how did they managed to fit so much on 798MB? Heck... you can fit like 10-11 warhawk games on a single DVD9. This proves that if Sony wants the games don't have to be 30GB and yet be great games... isn't that something...

The game has 5 maps, which are scalable to the type of game you want to play. I'm sure there will be new maps as an add-on in the future though. And they've always been of the opinion (I think) that at least some of the PSN games would be offereings that are considered fully fledged, fleshed out games in their own right. The disc's capacity is a luxury and an option; not a mandate.

The game has 5 maps with 5-6 configs for each map... so it ends up feeling like 25 different maps. That's what the 1up reviewer meant by "it ends up feeling like a much bigger game". I was actually amazed at how the same map can feel so different depending on the config and game type!

And of course games like Warhawk and SOCOM will be undoubtedly awesome. But c'mon, they don't pack the level of detail visually or audibly as games like Killzone 2, HS, or MGS4... so yea, they take up less space. What it does go to show however is that you can make an amazing game while being creative with the space you do have. But I for one don't want ALL my games to do that, luckily we get to enjoy the variety of the entire spectrum of game types!

They may have used compression on this game for the sake of being a Download, and you're complaining about that? Sony could cure cancer feed the poor, fix your car and buy you a dreamcast and you still wouldn't be happy. This game was always going to be a download so maybe they decided not to make it 20 GB. It is only 798MB because they want it that way. In an podcast interview with director Dylan Jobe he says:

"It sits compressed on the harddrive and never ends up being uncompressed until the very moment you demand the content, so you load the level and the content comes in compressed, and we decompress it on the fly into main memory"

Be glad you don´t have to donwload 3-4 GB of data ;-)

It has resale value if you dont like the game. It comes with a few extras and if you ever have a lan party with more then 1 ps3 the retail version will let you play with only 1 copy of the game. It seems as if the PSN isn't shareable so there are no advantages to it besides getting it a bit early and not having to put the disc in your system to play.

I'm not sure exactly what is causing your problem, but I do know that it's sometimes difficult to put funds in your account. Unless you're out of money, the option to add money won't show up. If that is the problem, put the game in your cart. If you don't have enough to buy it, the option to add funds will appear at the top of the screen, next to your wallet. Hope that helps. If not, sorry.

As much as I love my Ps3 more than my other consoles, warhawk is not the best game ever as you seem to be asking (I mentioned bioshock because it had great reviews and it's the new definition of hardcore gaming). Especially if Warhawk is 40 bucks, that's too much for a downloadable game. It should have been 30.

Are you on drugs? Have you played the game yet? Warhawk is WAY worth the $40... you'll be playing it for months to come. And although Bioshock is definitely an awesome game, with the lack of online I can't say the same for it.

Pretty sure you can. Unlike XBL your PSN tag and your PS Store log in aren't tied to your hardware. They allow five downloads regardless of where you download to. So if you have 5 PS3s you can get some crazy LAN action going. Or, you know, split a copy with a friend - though Sony probably doesn't approve of the latter.

EDIT - yeah it looks like it's locked to your PSN ID. So my answer is yes, you can probably still download it five times, but you won't be able to get the aforementioned sweet LAN action on.

EDIT: sorry lil buddy about your limited funds, but i was a beta tester for this game and i already know its a sh!tload of fun (hey, that kinda rhymes). check my past post...when this game was first announced to be multi/online only i was pissed. it wasn't until i actually PLAYED the game that my attitude changed. thats why i got pissed when it started getting bad reviews, not because i thought it was some grand conspiracy, because i KNOW its a great game.

personally i couldn't care less if you get the game or not. you just started talkin about explaining how sony did this, and why sony did that. i don't work for sony....yet *fingers crossed* i just play their games. and if i know, first hand, the game is good ima buy it. and yes $40 fits my budget quite nicely.

What we have to tell you is that almost every beta tester across multiple gaming forums have heaped praise onto this game as one of the most fun multiplayer games on a console, ever. Gameplay is most similar to Battlefield, but a lot faster, and more emphasis in the air. Enjoy reading the reviews, but they pretty much all say the same. Better yet, go over to a friend's house and play their Warhawk with them online in split screen, seamless online split screen pretty much seals the deal for people who like having their friends over.

well, it really is your personal decision, but let's put it this way, I have more fun and will be racking more hours on Warhawk than my total time for playing Resistance (co-op, single player, multi player). It is the 2nd best online shooter I've played (I'm a pretty livid Counter-Strike fan but it is quite old now and I don't play that much). Even a 4v4 is really fun on a small map, so the life span of this can last quite a while. Also global servers = players on all the time yay (well starting in 2 days :)).

now as for why is it fun? Massive aerial battles with lots of weapons, crazy flag runs with flag runners in the jeep while being protected by warhawks, tanks, and maybe some of his friends took over turrets at checkpoints throughout the map to help him. There really is nothing like going with a couple teammates in a Warhawk and parking it to capture check points. Also being a sniper is kind of cool too, as they really are quite powerful and can knock out Warhawks in a few good hits.

As one of the reviews said (i think 1up), it really is the seamless integration of all of its elements that make it so fun. At any moment you can be on foot with some weapons and mines, onto a vehicle, over to a Warhawk, or man some turrets. Now mix and match with a ton of teammates and you have a very epic experience I haven't had since Tribes 2. Yes, it is that crazy.

I won't be spending all my time playing gears of war any more. IMHO, this game is all that and a bag of chips. WilliamRLBaker, if you got the $40.00 to spare, pick up this game. It's alot of fun, so many ways to die or kill someone for that matter.

This game is fun as hell...with ZERO lag. A good way to pass the time and I was impressed with how big the maps were. There's also plenty of things to do on the ground as well as in the air.

I'm in Taiwan playing with 19 other people and there hasn't been a glitch. If you get this game and arent in the proper region you need to go to Filters in the Join Game menu and set the option to all regions. No lag whatsoever.
Also the warhawk has a turbo speed boost if you double tap R2. I learned that in the beta so some newbies might not know.
