Forget slogans like "Do! Do! Do!" using run of the mill boy pop groups or in-game pics of the damsels of DOA in teeny bikinis, just like the pic from DOA Extreme 2 above.
All you need is…………………..
There are actually tons of games/movies coming out where the female characters are looking strong and geared up but it would be kind of interesting for a certain group of people to play a male version of Dead or Alive.
If we want less of something why would adding more of the same thing make it better? That's a terrible argument. Its like telling people who want less guns that giving everyone a gun is the answer.
We're not really talking about something that can kill you but more on something that could appeal to a different audience. On this topic it's unfortunately impossible to please everyone. I personally just play any character. Whether the guy is half naked or the girl is half naked. It doesn't bother me because it's simply a game character.
There you go with that "we" again. You are one of the few raging liberals here.
And you managed to sneak in the ever popular gun grabbing theme in there as well. Grats.
Now I'm a liberal? Can you stop with the labels because you don't know what I stand for, I'm not speaking in terms of N4g members I'm speaking in terms of the industry altogether.
Kalebninja is right. We don't really get anywhere labeling people like that. I could easily say you're one of the butt hurt conservatives, but that doesn't really get us anywhere. He's just making a point, not pushing an agenda on guns. How about we leave political ideologies to the side, and keep it to what's happening with video games.
That being said I don't think it will change the minds of people who are upset with the way women are portrayed. I think the better example is women who get upset for the sexualization feel similar to black people who see black characters eating fried chicken or watermelon. I don't think showing white people breaking iPhones and eating hummus would make them feel better. Also, it's freedom of expression for people to be upset, and unless you hate freedom you can stop being a baby and suck it up.
What do you want instead? Every female character wearing a burka and the males flashing all?
* I don't get how it's "sexualizing" when REAL humans in REAL LIFE actually look like a lot of these video game characters either man or women.
Then there's no point in explaining to you, it's not something that's hard to understand.
What is it with you and your silly immature agenda against everything sexual, Kalebninja?
I wonder if you ever had a healthy sexual relationship with another human being.
I'm not against everything sexual, and I never said i was in fact i stated that i wasn't a few times but you seem to think you can read a couple of comments and im an open book. But of course since this is the internet you'll assume what you want and call me silly and immature because you disagree with me AND disrespect me because you can, but I'm the immature one. Mind you there are plenty of people who actually are against everything sexual but I doubt you'd have the audacity to walk into a church and call them silly.
It all plays so well for you exactly because this is the internet. Do you even read your own posts? The only thing you do when it comes to this stuff is spinning it the way it fits your argument.
You're constantly doing the same thing over and over. Giving an argument but if you spark a conversation about it and people don't agree wih you, you go into full on defense mode.
Just look how you replied to 3-4-5 and Deadpooled.
But funny that you mentioned calling people in a church stupid because this is exactly what i did when i was 14 when i had my communion. Don't get me wrong i' not proud about that. I was a silly teen.
I should point out for you that i never called you stupid in fact i think you must be a real clever and intelligent person. A diamond in a rough i think it's called. I just called your agenda stupid.
Heck, the more i think about it the more i actually want to have a real conversation with you. Maybe someday and all issues aside we should join a ps party if you game on ps and play some games and have a real conversation about our views of the world and what videogames should be and what not.
Meh my only problem is when it's in your face, adds nothing valuable, and is basically the equivalent of clickbait.
What if I want sexualized game characters? Current game characters aren't sexualized enough. Perhaps an option where you can choose vanilla or sexualized would be nice.
I guess if it's not for no reason besides to sell the game I wouldn't have an issue. Like I have no problem if it's a porn game, or a game that wants to have female characters that are three dimensional AND being sexy is part of their character. If a horror game that tries to be scary throws bikinis on the female characters I would find it silly.
What are you even talking about dude? I don't push for censorship. I think you can do or say whatever you want in this world as long as you're not trying to seriously hurt someone. The only caveat is that anyone can be judged, protested, or not liked for doing such. Everything has consequences, and people need to understand that. I have no agenda or real dog in this fight, besides not wanting people to act like assholes to each other. I vote with my money, and that's the most I do to push my "agenda."
I never actually saw the GAP thing, but your linking to the Blaze tells me that your claim of not being conservative is far from accurate. I mean that girl is kind of in a weird position, and it looks awkward. I wouldn't make a fuss, but if I was there when they were looking over the photos I'd probably use one where a girl wasn't just standing around looking frankly pretty unhappy. Mostly because "happy" and "fun" sells nearly as well as sex.
As for your video, I'm in full agreement with the white guy with the ugly hair. He has every right to look like a dufus, but I also have the right to think dreads on white people looks ugly as sin. Maybe if he was running around in black face eating KFC I'd feel he was in the wrong, but that's not the case here.
Look friend, I don't care what you believe, but you need to understand you're living your life with some serious paranoia. To lump me in with the likes of the two in your video is pretty funny, because they'd probably hate me.
Part of an article:"As a gay man myself, even if it did not tackle the social issues of the day regarding gender imbalance and equality"
First world problem - when women don't go to work in STEM and wish work less time for the same money - and they call it called imbalance.
Third world problem - you are killed for being gay or a woman without hijab.
I just...i just refuse to accept the people in civilized countries fell so deep. In desire to be "HEROES" and in absence of really big social issues they over exaggerate every miniscule matter or even make things up.
Pathetic sc*m.
I don't go out of my way to fight for women's rights, which is why I don't consider myself a feminist, but as a minority I can understand what it's like for something to make you feel bad based on a portrayal for your group. I'm kind of on the let's not be dicks train, where we hear people out, and at least understand why they're upset. Not saying we need to change things for every voice, because that would be silly. However ignoring a large minority of people is not something that should happen, because there might be something that those who are in the majority (or another group) might not see or understand.
The issues at play are worth discussing, and marginalizing them due to greater injustices is not the way to go. In our society, we don't have to worry daily about some of the things people have to worry about in other parts of the world, which allows us the opportunity to focus on other issues which also should be resolved.
I feel the specifics being focused on are the wrong thing to be focusing on if one is trying to solve specific problems, as there are bigger cultural and societal reasons for the way things are, and some, if not all, of these norms and perceptions were centuries in the making, and not all of them were for reasons of oppression. Basically, some groups focus on the superficial outcome of the greater issue that needs to be addressed first, thus changing nothing in the grand scheme of things, and only annoying people in the process.
However, I will agree that the tact taken to discuss these issues is usually pretty ineffective, and not effective except to heighten tensions between those who feel oppressed, and those who don't really care or are seen as the oppressors.
I strongly feel that sexier men in gaming would help alleviate the issue of things feeling one sided, but I don't think for a second we should stop incorporating sexy female characters either. No reason we can't have more of both I say. The whole "spread love, not war" thing applies here too lol
Sure. Sexualized male characters don't bother me in the slightest and I highly doubt they'll bother any significant section of the gaming community.
Whatever ends this "discussion" where scantily-clad fictional characters magically affect real people's actions.
"Whatever ends this "discussion" where scantily-clad fictional characters magically affect real people's actions."
It's the whole "violent games make people violent" argument again that we fought not 10 years ago, only this time people are falling for it hook line and sinker.
Yeah now it's games with sexual content make you a rapist that thinks women are objects.
Such a stupid article and equally stupid idea. There are already a few games with nude or partially nude men from mmo, to dead or Alive, hard rain, Dantes inferno and countless others bottom line is no one cares enough to aknowledge them and or make it so central to a purchase and definitely does nothing to even the playing field among genders. Look men just aren't the idea of what sex is all about men are the tools. Women are, was and will always be sex objects it is how they are designed by nature to be the enticement for men. You can't change or stop that.
All the gay men and salivating women in the world looking for bulges in a male models underwear or male game character ain't going to do squat but make happy a very small part of the population of gaming. As for this little snippet of the article: 2014 revealed that 48% of people who play video games are female. I do believe the question should be what kind of female gamers we talking here? Because I for one rarely if ever bump into one of these 48% female gamers on COD, destiny or any other multitude of games out there. I do find them however on various mmo games, or iPad games playing puzzles or some other casual game that doesn't require hours upon hours of dedication like say a dark souls game. Not sure where they get these rediculous percentage but I know for a fact it ain't as simple as 48% of gamers are female. I wouldn't even call most of them gamers just because they play candy crush or angry birds. So trying to cater to a demographic that really I doubt gives two flying monkeys about nude men being in games and an even smaller ratio of gay gamers is just stupid.
Majority rules and iam certain the majority of gamers are straight males from as eArly as 8 to about 60 for this reason is why games are designed with damsels in distress, half naked female warriors etc etc and muscular heroic men it is the male fantasy that has driven this industry and made it what it is today that of course is slowly crumbling away to include genders and or sex orientations of people who feel left out and just have to find a stupid issue with everything that doesn't include them even if In truth they don't care.
Because if they did than just make your own dam gay game and see how much it sells. Make your own dam strong fully armored female hero with 16 inch pythons and a six pack out to save some demasculated dude locked in a dungeon by an equally uber man like female villian and see how much it sells. I promise you will be a failure. Because sex sells when it comes to the female form not men. For every male strip joint there are 10 female strip joints for a reason at it has nothing to do with bias or sexism or any other stupid thing this minority group of complainers can come up with.
From cinema, to porn, to yes video games, and model magazines, and anything else from the beginning of time it's women that entice the world and its men who will do anything to covet them.
Check online and find any of the million porn sites catering to men with the millions of women we desire. For every gay porn site you have a thousand hetero porn sites and its for the very reason that matters and always will. The desire for women by straight men so much so that today wanting women ain't enough now you have men becoming women. But you see you can't stop Natures design you can add to it you can deviate from it but in the end nature will always win by a large margin of the majority which aren't run by mostly gays or horny women. Nope just your average red blooded horny straight male.
@adrian dude I can say the same about your opinion. For the record if you can't deal with a different opinion and want to quickly shut me down for having my views your just proving my point.
Does this look like a communist web site to you?
Your narrow minded views is the problem here. As it is the problem with the world today no one can respect a different view. You quickly feel hurt and start attacking people who don't think like you than talk about the very thing you all lack "toleration"
I didn't attack anyone read the post both hazel and goldy wrote they attacked me for stating what I feel about the state of games today and a disagreement with the article. Than you come along and want the moderators to shut me down because my beliefs offend you? Really? You can't see the problem with your statement? The problem you all share that advocate for equality among feminist, trans and gay people? Yeah look at it real good as usual your people just want what you want without explanation make demands without justification. If questions crack your armor you want the questioners to be shut down. You can't defend your views without solid fact you resort to instant attack and claims of rascist remarks, bigotry, and whatever else helps you overcome the odds against your view.
To enlighten your one track mind all three of you and your views offend me did you know that? But unlike you and your buddies over there I've not made a complaint because it's your view I can respect that I just don't agree with it. Spitting vulgar comments at me because I don't see things your way and than trying to shut me down for it is why what you fight for is stigmatized with so much hate and your cause makes you look like your full crap.
Come at me bro. Don't look for moderators to help your cause fight your own fight when the dust settles maybe we'll learn something and find the respect you currently demand without explanation or earning one ounce of it due to your failed ability to justify your cause.
Stop trying to play the victim here with your backwards thinking. You were attacking a group of individuals based solely on their sex (thats sexism) and sexual orientation (bigotry). You say you have nothing against them but then make outlandish claims like honosexuality is a mental illness that cant be cured. And gay men and salivating women only look for buldges in crotches of men... Bigotry is the most accurate word, but misogynistic is more accurate, you just seem to think that a gay man equal a woman. And no matter how many bros you com at me with, you cant change that kind of stupid.
Did you know that if you replaced everything gay men in your comments with black man you are dealing with a very racially charged comment that some may view you as offensive.
Oh and as much as everyone says everyones feelings matter, when you are offended,Like the true victim you are, by us defending the rights of people you are putting down, you feelings are worth less than a roll of fishing wire in a pile of Sh*t.
You need some friends man. Some female friends and lots of friends who side with the LGBTQ. They are a part of society, and as you said aint no cure for it. So might as well get comfy with them and treat them like humans, or in the end you'll be the only one acting and talking like a baboon.
Signed. The bisexual gamer who likes looking at men and women. Or is that not part of your theory?
@GrimDragon
I don't know in what boat you're putting me. I wrote a comment of 3 sentences and nowhere in it did I directly insult you, others in this thread maybe but those comments weren't mine. I'm actually for freedom of expression, I agreed with many of your comments regarding the portrayal of girls in games, especially in regards to the latest Blizzard "scandal". I like attractive characters in games, even sexual female characters if it is well woven into their persona (e.g. Bayonetta, Ada from Resident Evil 4, Miranda from Mass Effecr, Fran from Final Fantasy 12 among others). I was simply shocked by some of your comments which in fact were offensive. I'll address some of them:
"Number one transgender men are mentally ill as are gay people. It's a fact twist it how you want but it's a chemical imbalance in your brain bro. It's a sickness with no cure. It's sad really. Gender dysphoria is a terrible mental disorder. Resulting in a very high suicide rate. Nothing normal about it, and I won't even get into homosexuality as that's just a similar but pointless conversation."
No, it's not. I understand you don't agree with such a lifestyle and I would respect your opinion if you wrote it like that in a respectful way, but you didn't, you wanted to be provoking and offensive and you know it. Calling someone sick, mentally ill and sad for something they can't change is not giving an opinion and deepening the conversation, it's bluntly offensive. It might be a chemical imbalance (which is still open to debate), but that's no reason to call it an illness. Some guys prefer hot bombshell types of girls, others prefer the damsel in distress/girl next door type, do I call one of them mentally ill because they aren't going for the smoking hot girl, since that is what their animal instincts would tell them to do? No. It is who they are and how their brain is wired. Some prefer pizza, others prefer burgers, some like rap, others like classical music. Some might find your enthusiasm for digital boobs and butts sad. Do I? No, I love attractively shaped bodies whether real or art. Would you be offended if someone phrased it 'You're a man in your 50s and you get off of digital girls. You're sad and mentally ill.'? Yes you would.
And for the record, homosexuality has been taken from the list of gender dysphoria long ago, way before the gay agenda entered politics and way before the freedom of sexuality movements. Facts are derived by globally constructed definitions. So no, your opinion is not fact as you attempted to present it.
"I wouldn't say women were discriminated throughout history woman were considered the weaker sex and the least intelligent and you know what the idea wasn't far off"
This was your comment on another article. This is immensely offensive and I don't know if it's necessary to even comment on that. Even in today's world there are matriarchal societies that are sustaining and not falling apart because women have leader roles. You continued on to say that women served the purpose of being beautiful and bearing offspring and talking how their role was presented by goddesses as if that makes your statement less offensive. I assume you're referring to old polytheistic religions, which doesn't get your point across as there were just as much male gods who were sex symbols as well. You're dismissing a whole period of history in which women were in fact discriminated. Now I don't agree with the modern feminists, I do agree that they are too dramatic and offensive as well towards males, but acting like there wasn't a time where women faced serious social issues and bluntly stating that they are weak and less intelligent is offensive on your part.
Well said Adrian see now that's what iam talking about if I could give you an extra bubble I would.
Like everything even facts can be perspective driven. The times have surely changed among the genders and the roles we play in society. Personally I don't like the changes I think they contribute to chaos and blur boundaries that I feel are there to keep things cohesive like a well oiled car.
I also don't like feminist imposing their ideals on an established way of doing things within the game community which frankly is bordering on perverting what it really means to be feminist. I don't agree with gay marriage, I don't view trans women as real women this is my thinking because it's what makes sense to me and keeps my world stable. Sure maybe it's old school views and how I was raised but it doesn't mean iam not accepting of these changes or movements unless it directly affects my way of living than yeah like them I'd have to be vocal and no longer be indifferent. Than may the best view win and the powers that be decide what is right like with the whole transgender bathroom fiasco.
Stereotypes may offend but I can't say there's never been a level of truth in them. I don't deny anything I said on my views I defend them 100% if that makes me a sexist bigot so be it. I can take the heAt from my less than popular views it's cool. One day those views might change but it won't be today. Hard to really explain what I mean on a forum when it comes to these things. But I'll just say this I've been offended a hundred times over by other people's views and stereotypes as iam sure I have to those I've come across but as long as a person does not try to impose those views on me its all good. I let it go because you know everyone's got an opinion you either agree or don't.
Obviously me and you have differing opinions for reasons that make sense to us and frankly only a long face to face talk can really reach an understanding about our views. But non the less I appreciate the great way you came at me and can respect what you stand for even if I don't agree.
You got me thinking and that's what counts. Having an opinion with an open mind is progress.
We'll meet again on other forums and clash on other subjects here learning as we go.
I admit I can be brash and blunt about these things but never close minded I strive to understand others opposing views even if I don't agree. Till next time cheers bro.
Thanks for the polite reply, I admit I was expecting something different. As I said, I agreed and liked some of your opinions on other articles and I was disappointed to see you lose your composure and start to write to offend.
I respect your opinion on trans people. But here's a point of view, try to take it if you like it. If someone's called Edmund and he tells you 'I hate my full name, call me Ed', you'd probably respect his point and call him Ed. View it the same way when someone says 'I hate how I was born, call me a her'. This simple change of one word won't break the world for you, but it'll be an immense sign of empathy to someone else and you'll be returned the respect.
Edit: I also respect your traditional believes. The change of society has been fast and adapting to it can be difficult, especially for the older part of the community. I understand that religion has claimed marriage as an aspect of itself. I see how people can be offended if gay people were allowed to marry. But marriage isn't simply a religious act, it comes with many benefits, mostly in regards to finances, taxes and healthcare, and denying a portion of the population these benefits counts as discrimination. As someone who happens to be gay, I understand these religious implications and hence I share the opinion that gay people shouldn't necessarily be allowed marriage. But then the state needs to redefine the concept of two people sharing their lives, invent a new concept, outside of the religious marriage one, that would give gay people the same rights and call it something different. If a couple then wants the standard church wedding, they can find a church that agrees and allows them.
You can have a proper conversation, as you've proven with your last comment. Don't let your frustration with other people break your composure and resort to insults. Stay respectful (even towards idiots) and keep your class and in the eyes of the community you'll always emerge from such discussions as winner, while you'll have deep and interesting conversations with those who share that attitude.
Again, thanks for being polite. Cheers bro.
