Footage of Gunplay in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

From GameVideos.com comes a good look at the gun battles in Uncharted and how they play out. A nice minute and a half video that shows the bullet effects and animations of the game well.

EDIT- i just rewatched it and the guy playing it sucks at aiming. its good to see this game has recoil and its looking good i dont mean to sound negative bout it.
@ Rev20 a game's a game,and a headshot's a headshot. im not one for much realism in my games, but a peashooter of a gun always sucks, realistic or not. Good A.I. should make games harder, not weak bullets

Wow, I can't imagine anyone having a legitimite reason to disagree with that...

I too think that the more subtle, natural animations they throw in, the better. And it makes a world of difference to see him actually have to unstrap the weapon to use it. Sadly, when he originally switched from the AK or whatever it was, there was no holstering animation; it just appeared on his back. But hey, you can only ask for so much.

The holstering/unholstering is there but its damn quick.

Dev need to slow it down as it takes away from the realism of the game. Likewise those bada$$3s getting shot. You get hit by an AK-47, you should be slowed down at least(wounded).

Uncharted is looking great. The guy who is playing it however looks very confused. I'm not sure if the Pirates take a lot of bullets or if he's just missing a lot. I've seen some of the programmers playing the game and it looks more impressive when the player knows what they're doing.

This game looks great, the only thing I could say about the demo, is that one pirate was getting shot at point blank, and did not try to run.

But as someone stated before, these are videogames! And How would each of you act in a similar situations, either way you would probably get killed.

So they're saying that you need to be a sniper to defeat a pirate at ZERO range? and regardless of where you hit him it does the same amount of damage? Because thats what it looks like is happening to me. If so then the damage system is pretty primitive. I would hope that a non-sniper 'could' possibly have several 'lucky' shots if he empties a clip or two is all.

Like Gears Of War, and then when you are done with that, you can pop in another great game, like Gears Of war, and then, when you finally finish that game, you can play that other AAA title, named Gears Of War, and then, when you finish that one, and get sick of all those sweet games on the 360, you can put that other awesome game in, called Gears Of War. great games for MS that just makes the top dogs at MS sell their stocks. and Peter Moore resign, thats how great te games are.

Anyways, this game looks total kick ASS! I jsut cant believe how Sony is just so innovative and unique. Sony is the true next-gen company. I cannot wait to see what sony has in stores for us, its such an awesome machine.

Just take a look at GT5 Prolgue, it makes Forza 2 look like Rad Racer. Hell, GT4 makes Forza 2 look like Rad Racer.

They will talk about the controlls, I think they are still being toned up right now. They will either say that the controls take a little getting use to but are good or the game will get average reviews because of the controlling. It seems that's the issue with the game right now.

My guess is that the controls will take some getting use to but get the job done. This games quality looks overall too good to be average. I didn't like this video however, guy looks too out of control and taking shots from everywhere. I would hope you can take the game at a slower pace and have more control of the situation.

Seriously, why are people complaining about the pirates taking a few shots to die?
It's the same with Gears of War, you have to empty an entire clip sometimes two to kill a single locust. And let's not even talk about multiplayer, you shoot people 5 or 6 times and they shoot you once and down you. I don't think that's bad, it's just part of the gameplay.
Let's be realistic guys, no game is perfect and i'd rather it be harder to kill guys than easier.

Don't get me wrong , it looks great, but it was more of a cohesive experience in Gears to empty a clip into an armoured alien race before it died as opposed seeing cotton shirt wearing pirate ( badboyek4's point ) get back up after you obviously nailed him in the gut 5 times before he fell back from a shoulder shot out of nowhere, and also 4 headshots later from the 2nd or 3rd fellow there... not asking for realism, asking for believability and cohesiveness, i mean those environments are awesome, why can't the gunplay match?

it doesn't matter whether they have armor or not, it still takes a ton of shots to kill them, you need active reload to kill them "faster".

Obviously these guys are pirates so they're not going to have tons of armor, maybe they have a vest underneath their shirts? lol
seriously though, my point is this game would not be fun if it only took 1 or two shots to kill bad guys, i understand the fact that it takes so many shots to kill "average" guys, but in the end i'm willing to look past that in order to have a more rewarding/challenging gaming experience.

Also, i just watched the video again and this guys sucks at shooting! check out the crosshair, it looks like he misses half the time.

the damage system in this game is SO stupid, why does it take a whole clip from an ak47 assualt rifle at near point blank range to kill a skinny guy wearing a vest.

And why is it everytime they get shot it looks as if they slipping on a banana skin?

Hopefully a true next-gen tomb raider will come out soon.

It's that out of 10 machine gun rapid fire shots, only one of those bullets actually hits them. This title looks great and next-gen on many thigns, but perhaps it has some flaws that will remind us of last-gen.
