It seems that in the last year and a half, third party Wii developers have been complaining more and more about how the Wii has caused their games to fail, and subsequently lose money. Is this true? Well, developers have definitely lost money, but I don't believe it's the fault of the Wii, and the reason is simple: People are making comparisons that take average-reviewed niche games and compare them with critically acclaimed mainstream games...
The PC version of No More Heroes has received an update that now allows gamers to enjoy it with a keyboard and mouse.
TimeShift had a fairly muted launch in 2007, and while it doesn't rewrite the FPS rulebook it does offer an enjoyable campaign even now.
Never heard of this game until someone mentioned it here last year. Played it and it basically represents most games from the PS3/Xbox360 era—good graphics, amazing physics, and extremely fun gameplay (time powers rock), but barely any story, weird pacing, and at least one annoying AF level. I finished Prototype last week and the same applies, except Strike Teams. Fuck Strike Teams.
I miss when ganes used to experiment with physics and world interaction
Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."
Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.
2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.
They should have just left it at multiplats that are on all three systems. Who knows how much cherrypicking went on?
Notice how all the Wii games listed are games that received tons of hype for being core games (core game on Wii? ZOMG!), whereas all the PS360 games he listed are super-generic compared to the bestselling third party games. The only fair comparison was World at War.
Oh, you can sure say that he was just comparing games that had equal metascores- but the difference is that an 80% game on Wii really stands out from all the shovelware; whereas an 80% game on PS360 is usually overshadowed because of the constant barrage of good games coming out for the HD consoles. So obviously the Wii game is going to stand out as the must buy, whereas the PS360 game is going to seem not-so-special compared to what else is available.
Oh, and he's using VGChartz.
