OXCGN's Bad Company 2 vs. Modern Warfare 2 Showdown Review

If gaming is about FUN first and foremost, I gather Bad Company 2 is the winner. If it's about 'entertainment experience', maybe MW2?

No. Bad Company 2 is an epic fail! The campaign is repetitive, non-momentous, and forgettable. The multi-player is too easy and there's no strategy involved. Of course, MAG spoiled me, but still. This is not the same DICE I've loved for years.

Wait, wasn't this battle already over? BC2 won. It has everything mw2 has and more such as vehicles and destructible environments...

No strategy involved in BF BC 2? As to the thoughtless run-and-gun gameplay in MW 2?

As an example, see how far you get in a tank without an engineer as a co-driver.

MAG isn't in the same league, only PS3 fanboys like to think so.

and I enjoy both. Modern Warfare's multiplayer is more of a "twitch" style play where Bad Company 2 is more of a team based operation.

They are great games in their respective differences.

... while it lasted, but I'm enjoying BFBC2 more right now. I don't know if they're comparable since the gameplay is different.

The only thing that annoys me in BFBC2 is that we can't have clans, it's really dumb that we can't communicate with other squads, it would be more tactical if at least the squad leaders could coordinate with each other.

I dont care what people say, I still enjoy MW2 multiplayer quite alot. However, the few occasional hackers do get annoying, but still a fun experience overall.

I have yet to play MW2, but I played the Bad Company demo and...meh.

Going to agree with you here. I still enjoy MW2, mainly because I can go lonewolf and win a match without the use of my team. In BC2, I'm always paired with f*cking idiots who have no idea how to kill an enemy, or capture an objective. It's fun, but when you're on a horrible team, that fun goes right out the window.

People will always compare shooters to one another, even when it doesn't make sense, but I think it's a stupid idea to do that. Run and gun (COD) and tactical (BC2), shouldn't be compared because they are two different types of games. Bottom line, if it's fun, play it.

Agreed. I was terribly disappointed that BC2 didn't have a free for all mode.

I'm about to lobe the game in next week, so in fact, I'm now looking forward to it much more than before.

The previous one was a great load of fun, and definitelty found its self inside the 360 more often than not, I doubt this one will be much different.

A game not only has to have some believable qualities in it, such as both Moder Warfare, and Bad COmapny 2, but it also has to have its fair share of fun . . as without that, it's nothing more than an interactive movie . . as serious one.

Which is probably why Heavy Rain copped it so bad from both the press and pundents.

While it was an excellent game (well - interactive movie, it lacked the 'fun-factor' which is needed.

Bad Company has the both tied in together, and adds some realistic atmosphere in for the mix.

Hi. Yeah...I've played through both. Check my trophies. JacobIsHollywood. I kept Heavy Rain because it was fun and entertaining. Bad Company 2 barely pulls off the entertaining part. It's not fun at ALL! If you have no fun playing Heavy Rain, you're doing it wrong. :) On my third playthrough. Bad Company 2 was pretty lackluster. A wave of enemies comes...you grab a couple of gun...and slowly push your way in. Modern Warfare 2 makes this look like a joke.

If you're talking about the single player, that's not the main focus of Battlefield. It's all about multiplayer.

And with Medal of Honor looking like it'll shape up to be something special, everyone should find something for themselves.

And hey, competition drives progress. I have a feeling EA might not have invested so heavily in BC2 had CoD not been breathing down its neck.

I feel Bad Company 2 pace a lot more enjoyable.

In MW2 you unlock things too quickly to even get used to what you just unlocked.... BC2 in not like that, you unlock something and you can try it out 3 or 4 games before unlocking something new.

Even the singleplayers pace is a lot slower, which is brilliant, I am not fond of the running around aspect of MW2 it gets confusing. I like the weapon crates where you use older weapons.

I'm only level 13... and there's still loads left I think it goes up to 40... or 35.

I checked and it is level 50... I would love to unlock something awsome... but I fear after level 30 I'd have unlocked most things :(

lol Bad Company 2 pawns mw2, the single player is boring but the multiplayer is amazing, it's also keeping me up too late.

MW2 has had its run. Fast and short. Good game but got annoying fast. Plus too many mouthy 10 year olds with parent no where to be seen.

You guys need to play 4 Squad Death Match in hardcore mode. Get the adrenaline spike you're really after.

Really don't see what was so boring about the SP part.

I enjoyed it.

Blowing stuff up is always good:)

Some nice graphics and fx.

Of course it could have been a better story, but was good overall.

MP is alot of fun.

Playing BfBC2 inbetween playing GOW3.
