Coffee with Games: Nintendo Stops Shipping and Producing more Wii Games: Wario Land: Shake It!, Battalion Wars 2, and M

Nintendo confirmed via email that they have stopped producing and shipping Mario Strikers Charged, Battalion Wars 2, and Wario Land: Shake It! Why would Nintendo stop producing and shipping these games now?

It doesn't make sense to me, but I'm not swimming in piles of cash like Nintendo is.

Feral Gamer5235d ago

What's the big deal? Those games are two years old and probably not selling much anymore. It may be unfortunate for late Wii buyers, however Nintendo shouldn't have to keep shipping games past their prime.

CoffeewithChess5235d ago (Edited 5235d ago )

I know the games are at least two years old, but it's your second part as to why I'm confused a little by this.

Nintendo has had a lot of late purchasers of the Wii, so why not keep the games around for those people to be able to try and pick up?

I understand new games come out often, and maybe it's just Nintendo making more shelf space for their new games or something, I don't know.

SpoonyRedMage5235d ago

Well they may only produce more when their last shipments are gone, especially considering these aren't evergreen titles.

Or it might simply not be worth it...

although it's also a good way to build up demand quickly like with Metroid Prime Trilogy.

CoffeewithChess5235d ago

Are you talking about how Nintendo stopped producing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, to make demand Metroid Prime: Trilogy?

So did Battalion wars not sell a lot or something? I heard it was a pretty okay game on the Wii and one I should have looked into. Wondering why they made this choice.

timestoby5235d ago

they might aswell stop shipping wii aswell. bring on the wiihd

2009 numbers

Wii - 19 million
360 - 9 million
ps3 - 11 million

What would you do?

CoffeewithChess5235d ago

If the "analysts" are right about the sale numbers for the consoles just in December 2009, the Wii sold more than 3 million consoles just in that month.

I guess we'll have to wait until Jan. 14, for official NPD data on console sales.

Samus HD5235d ago

haha Wii Sales = Ps3 sales + 360 sales

Where are you Wii HD???:

CoffeewithChess5235d ago

The 2009 numbers are crazy.
I almost wonder if Wii HD is coming sooner(this year), than later. Maybe like the DSi, where it's an upgrade of sorts, but not a complete changing of the system.

superootfan5235d ago

There are probably alot of those games floating around. That's probably why nintendo is stopping manufacture of them. they probably need the game manufacturing resources for their huge 2010 lineup. All those games not shipping represents more resources to produce more copies of the new zelda, the new metroid and a possible brand new zelda. I'm guessing well see trilogy make a comeback in a conventional plastic case and booklet.

Meanwhile... coffee.... those comics are neither clever, funny or well drawn. I'd recommend keeping your webcomic humor to yourself. Those are just sad. 2 comics based on the same dumb joke as done by a 3 year old with absolutely no creativity.

Now We’ve Had Advance Wars Remastered, It’s Time for Battalion Wars 1+2 on the Switch

Battalion Wars is one of the most under-appreciated classics from the Nintendo GameCube. Part Splatoon, part Mario Kart, part old-school shooter, and all action, this game is fun and strategic. So now that we’ve had Advance Wars remastered, it’s time for Battalion Wars 1+2 on the Nintendo Switch with the following updated features.

I was just bringing this game up to a friend recently. He used to play them so much.

Metroid Prime Remastered is Great, But a Trilogy Collection Would have Been Better

Players jumping into the series before Metroid Prime 4 releases need access to the entire trilogy on the Switch, not just Metroid Prime Remastered.

Imagine Metroid Prime using UE 5?, thank you Nintendo you are ossummm! :D

badz149457d ago

you want them to melt all the Switch worldwide?

PhillyDillyDee458d ago

Theyre gonna pull some BS, just watch. Im betting 1 and 2 will be sold individually then 3 will be a part of a trilogy pack.

Petebloodyonion458d ago

I don't know why everybody is praising Nintendo for remastering Prime1 when they became silent radio on Prime4.
As much as I can see the game looking better it's still played exactly like the Metroid prime 1 on Gamecube or the Trilogy version that I also own on Wiiu (It's the Wii version but it was made a Wiiu title)

--Onilink--458d ago

Because its a great remaster? And actually reasonably priced against all odds?

I dont need them to be telling me every six months that Prime 4 is still coming. They are developing the game and will show more details when its ready, simple as that.

I have no problems with Nintendo not showing it yet if they still don’t want to

jambola458d ago

it's 40
I've seen better remastered trilogies for roughly the same, hell I've seen collections 5 times bigger for half the price

Petebloodyonion458d ago

and they released the COMPLETE trilogy on Wii-u for 20$
https://www.gamespot.com/ar...

--Onilink--457d ago

@pete

And that was still the Wii version, with literally no WiiU enhancements whatsoever…

I 100% prefer a remaster of the level we got at $40 than just a simple upres port of the trilogy at $60 like it has happened with basically every other Nintendo remaster so far, or even worse for them to release a Wii port for $20 with no enhancements

Not to mention this is clearly part of the work Retro is doing graphically for Prime 4

Tacoboto458d ago

That's not accurate on either part. The Wii U "title" is only just the Wii version - motion controls and 480p only. This version is the first version with dual-stick controls so that alone makes the feel of this different than either version 10 or 20 years ago.

Petebloodyonion458d ago

Yes like I said the Wii u is the Wii version but was billed as a Wiiu game the point it appears straight into the Wii-u Menu and not the Wii one like the Wii game but it is essentially the Wii Trilogy offered at a discount price at the time with remote controls.

PhillyDillyDee458d ago

As much as you can see? Guess you missed the part about modernized controls. I also saw a video that showed off an updated soundtrack.

Petebloodyonion458d ago

Ok they modernized control... update the music basically exactly what they did with the Wii trilogy (that supported motion control-like corruption)
My point isn't that the game is fined tune but the fact that ppl celebrate Nintendo for not delivering something that was a major announcement in 2017.
How would ppl feel if Sony was announcing Uncharted 5 and after 6 years they would release a remaster of the 1st Uncharted or if the upcoming Perfect Dark by MS is ... the remaster of the 1st one so you can still wait.

Heck I can already see the Xbox has no game or can't make a game comment flooding in

And also you know that they didn't made the trilogy so they can release the others game later on.

Neonridr458d ago

and TLOU on PS5 plays exactly the same as it does on PS4. What's your point? A great game deserves to be enjoyed by a larger audience.

Petebloodyonion458d ago (Edited 458d ago )

and the majority of the crowd dissed Sony for basically remastering a Ps4 titles
how many reviews gave it a great score but mentioned that the price was too high?
Heck, go see Angry joe review it's the perfect satire where he basically goes fetch the review of the Ps4 changes some filters, renames the file name to Tlou part 1, and press play.
Also, did NaughtyDog announce Tlou3 Part 5 years ago?

Again my issue isn't that they remaster a great game it's the fact that they are giving a middle finger to fans of the actual trilogy (ppl like me who basically own all previous versions) while saying get ready for parts 2 and 3 before the damn part 4.

And let's be clear if Microsoft would have put that crappy move with a 40$ Remake of Halo1 instead of Infinite
the negative comments would have flooded this thread.
Heck just wonder what would happen if MS release a Perfect Dark remaster instead of the new one?

Tacoboto457d ago

What are you on, Pete?

Halo CE already got remade, in 2011. Then it got re-released again as part of MCC in 2014. It's still getting updated. Nintendo hasn't said anything about remakes of Prime 2 or 3. The only TLOU being officially worked on is Factions and Part 1 PC.

What you're saying here is wrong, your initial post is wrong, and all of your follow ups have been wrong.

jambola458d ago

but that would be expected to cost less and nintendo doesn't like things costing less
especially when people keep supporting that anyway

Profchaos458d ago

Metroid fans for years: "we want prime remastered."

Metroid fans after getting what they want: "yeah.... It's ok but where's the rest"

Rage77458d ago

Notice that the people bitchin aren't the "Nintendo Fans".
That age old myth of "Crazed, Zealot acting Nintendo fans" is a construct from years of trolling coming from
"opposite camp fans".
Most of the people you see complaining here arent true Nintendo fans, they are low key "imposters" that fake
"concern", because "they care" when in reality you only see praising only what others do but Nintendo in teir eyes can only do wrong...its gotten old and it didnt work against the Switch's success and it probably never will.
In the meantime, i prefer to enjoy stuff instead of being day in and day out "disapointed" in the stuff i dont care about. Would it had been nice to have all 3? Sure, does it make this one less great? Abso-F&^in-lutely NOT. :)

jambola458d ago

Lol
"Not true Nintendo fans" ok

jambola458d ago

It's almost like there are a variety of people on the internet with varying opinions
Crazy

Rage77458d ago

Ah yes, There are in fact many with varied opinions and that in itself is a great thing to have, what is not so great is the people who either try to either force their opinions on to you, or try to guilt you into either feeling bad or dumb for not conforming to their opinion. Or as an alternative those who dont have a valid argument and resort to either belittling others or going for low petty insults to puff their egos online.
I personally care for none of the examples above, but have seen a lot of it happen for many years now.
I stick to being around peeps who enjoy the medium (video games) and dont feel the need to crap over somebody else's enjoyment.
