Xbox 360: The world's funnest heater

joystiq always thought that the amount of heat put out by the 360 was a bad thing (especially when it melts its own brains from within), but don't be surprised if crafty console makers spend as much time in the next generation talking about BTUs as GPUs.

looooooooooooooooooooooooooool slayed

I install almost every game to reduce the amount of heat (as much as possible) and avoid disk scratching. It's a good option and if you have space on the hard drive I suggest everyone does it (at least for your most played games). It reduces the noise, the heat, and the danger of RROD and sometimes reduces loading times by just a bit.

I'm sorry but that is such a crappy photoshop job

TheLog5261d ago

Lol!!!

Haha thats some creative work...
I install every game in my hard drive too to prevent PRODD, so far so good.

villevalorox5261d ago

and yeah, don't even try to play a game if it is summer and you have not air :(

This article could get the flamewars going... * sigh *

Regardless, I agree with Saaking. Installing to the HDD is usually a good move. It cuts down the heat, wear and tear, disk read error potential (and scratching) and it's a LOT quieter.

The newest 360s seem to put out a lot less heat. And if I'm not mistaken, my newest version came with a smaller power brick.

What good is a space heater than can break on you. And I've been doing this with my PS3 for the last 3 winters. Yeah not only am I heating a room cheaply, I'm also helping to cure cancer. Lets see the 360 do that.

it'll be a very cold winter.

Most HDTVs and LCDs produce more heat than your console.

LinuxGuru5261d ago

Very true. My friend's 50" plasma heats up her room almost unbearably so.

TVs put out way more heat than one would think. Plus, TVs use passive cooling, so the damned heat just lingers, for crying out loud. At least consoles have fans!

Whoever disagrees with the guy above me, or me, is an idiot.

RememberThe3575260d ago

That doesn't make me an idiot at all, that just mean that it doesn't happen to me...

qwertyuiopasdfghjkl5260d ago (Edited 5260d ago )

RememberThe357, I said MOST HDTVs produce more heat, quit being so absolute.

Linuxguru, some HDTV's (like my Samsung), have internal fans, while most don't, so your right, the heat does just radiates around them.

LOL, apparently this guy hasn't been around LCD TVs.

kaveti66165261d ago

It should have been filtered out based on its title alone. The content of the article isn't exactly flame-bait. It's kind of useless. Why not just have an article that links directly to the guy's blog than to this other guy who is talking about the guy's blog?

I lost my drive for collecting physical games due to many discs lacking the whole complete game. Instead, of collecting games I started collected figurines.

Popsicle2d ago

I am a collector have a room dedicated with a couple original arcade cabinets, physical game library, old and new consoles and controllers backlit with LED lighting. It’s very cool to have but with emulation being so strong and prevalent, I sometimes feel foolish because the hobby is expensive and like another said, the full game is not always on the disc. Could probably spend more wisely but I enjoy it.

Most games are usually on disc still. Of course you got you publishers that are hit and miss, Activision, ubisoft, ea, Microsoft, where the rest of the game needs downloaded.

It's an outstanding game and so was The Old Blood. Also a lost era of gaming. Interesting, I received a physical copy of The Old Blood 9 years ago today from Poland. It was digital only in North America initially upon release so I had to import.
