IGN's New Look

It takes time to get things right. More than a decade after IGN first launched, and after a half-dozen revisions, we finally found a look that suits us. Certainly, we've had many readers who enjoyed and will even miss our cluttered pages, but in time, we're certain you'll come to agree that this slimmer, sleeker IGN is best in a long line of facelifts.

I like it, hopefully they also change their IGNorant ways

Maddens Raiders5269d ago (Edited 5269d ago )

well, you know the rest....

Lifendz5269d ago

and it's easier on the eyes, but it sorta looks like a blog now.

NecrumSlavery5269d ago

A turd rolled in glitter and sprinkles, is still a turd.

Until IGN goes back to being unbiased and flamebait free, they'll be a fail in my book.

randomwiz5269d ago

@1.2 Agreed

Don't get me wrong, I like this layout, but...

I wouldn't say blog, but it looks more like 100 other sites out there.

Lifendz5269d ago

and most of those sites don't have anywhere near the budget that IGN has. I guess they had to do something because the other IGN layout was daunting to some. I would go there and be overwhelmed. Now I'm....well...underwhelmed. Can't win I guess. Hope they stick with this and don't change to something else.

Darkstorn5269d ago

The site used to be so cluttered, I'm liking the change.

"Until IGN goes back to being unbiased and flamebait free, they'll be a fail in my book."

Throwing out their own thoughts and opinions in favor of yours (i.e. giving every ps3 exclusive a 10) does not equal unbiased.

On topic. I don't like their new site, the review section is all cluttered now and you have to scroll down the whole page to see all the reviews and scores. It's like going from List view in windows, to thumbnail view, except that you have to scroll down to see all of them. Obviously this isn't a massive problem, but if we're talking about being "easier on the eyes" then it sucks. At least for me or someone who doesn't have to put on glasses to read something on a computer screen.

NoBias5269d ago

My favorite part about it is that they removed the scrolling article thumbnails. I hated when I used to go click on one and right before I did, it would scroll to the left and I'd click on the wrong article ha.

Sh!t cover in gold is still sh!t, i don't see how putting a new cover over the smelliest of diarrhea in the internet is going to change anything.

It looks a lot like N4G now. Any of my PS3 Brethren care to hi-jack and take over IGN and run it like we do here on N4G? No? Me neither. HAHA

LordMarius5269d ago

nah their comment system is terrible

LordMarius5269d ago

well you cant really reply to someone like here,
it doesnt really have a community feel to it, unless you are seeing the comments in the forum page. Also there is sometimes pages of comments and when I click on one it sends me to an ad and once Im done it sends me back to the 1st page of comments.

UnSelf5269d ago

i see

well im not sure if ur aware but ign's comments are also redirected to a forum if u wanted to get in depth on the comments

Certainly a major improvement on its clunky predecessor. Very clean simplistic and best of all, fast. Might visit the site more often now, who knows?

The Great Melon5269d ago (Edited 5269d ago )

Agreed. Simpler and sleeker are always better in my book. I really didn't like their old website with the news scroll. Glad they changed it.

Polluted5269d ago

I like it. Loads a lot faster than before.

If it is supposed to be modeled after the arcade box screw you microsoft for paying for dat

A Matter Of Trust: What The Game Industry Should Do To Win Gamers Back

Skewed and Reviewed have written an Opinion Piece covering issues in the gaming industry, how current issues were issues years ago, and what can be done to help restore consumer trust.

anast2d ago

Nothing. It's up to the gamers to stop consuming content from companies that they don't agree with.

Garethvk1d 18h ago

How do you know if you agree with it or not unless you play it? Which without conventions forces gamers to rely on trailers. Perhaps Demos should be made more frequently. But companies need to do better as well.

anast1d 17h ago

Wait until release. Watch Gameplay. Exercise patience.

Garethvk1d 17h ago

But is that not what they have now? Tons of gameplay or are you talking about watching actual gamers play it versus the trailers and streams? The big issue is that some companies pay streamers and influencers and they create content but for me; that is hardly a fair, unbiased, and factual look at a game.

1nsomniac1d 21h ago

Get rid of the suits in the industry and job done!!

Garethvk1d 18h ago

They usually are attached to the money sadly. It would be nice to have gamers in charge but you have so much money invested that business people are needed. Hence the issue; you need people who know business but are also gamers who know have an eye to the community. It sounds simple in theory that if you give gamers quality games that they want to play; money will be made. But that is not always so.
