Why Diablo III And StarCraft II Aren't Out Yet

Development on StarCraft II began in 2003, and Diablo III went into production in 2005. To put that into perspective, more time has gone into those two games than all of the hours that were spent making video games in the Palaeozaic and Mesozoic eras combined.

"Let me put it to you this way: Why is it that Diablo III and StarCraft II have never been in the same photograph?"

Capcom vs. Blizzard would be an awesome game lol.

Haha, funniest one,

Diablo III Speedboat Physics Consultant
"We were actually ready to send the gold master out last month, but it turns out somewhere along the line spellcheck turned every instance of 'Diablo' into 'Dublin'. Right now we're regrouping figuring out whether we want to start the whole thing from scratch or just roll with it and rework the graphics/story to go all-out Gaelic with what we've got."

Nihilism5294d ago

I actually lol'd at that one.

ThanatosDMC5294d ago

There's no point to be hyped about the two games YET... since it's still way way far away from the release. If it's after 2012, then... well, we're apparently gonna die. So no point.

They've been trying to make us salivate for the game for how many years now? I've ran dry a long time ago. <-- that sounded dirty

Nihilism5294d ago

I'm over it too, i am still looking forward to them both, but i don't bother to read sc2 or d3 news anymore, i stopped visiting the official sites 6 months ago, I kept hoping for the zerg unit updates....which never came, i personally think we'll be lucky to see sc2 in 2010 at all. Blizzard puts way too much hype into their games, no matter how good they are, i'm sure i'll be disappointed

That they are milking WoW. That's all.

Diablo 3 would hurt WoW fan base.

Nihilism5294d ago

... no one said it would. They are milking wow though and it sucks that they didn't make warcraft 4, in a perfect world they would make wc4 with the starcraft 2 engine

t8505294d ago (Edited 5294d ago )

warcraft 4 would be awesome.

though i still cant stop playing wc3.. still one of the best RTS out there.

thats what i love about PC gaming. Playing older games is almost never a problem.

Had i been a console gamer id be having 3 other old boxes laying around to play my old titles.

Nihilism5294d ago (Edited 5294d ago )

the sad truth of the consoles is that they don't make them like they used to, that and the fact that they don't always support backwards compatibility means that as time goes on all the old console games will become unplayable, whereas we can just crank up the settings that little bit more and still play all the old classics...

seriously though, my biggest wet dream would be wc4 with the sc2 engine, i still cling to hope, blizzard is known for shock announcements...i just hope the day comes when that announcement is made

t8505294d ago

i got most of my snes games saved up on pc.. no other way to play them now.. i aint having boxes laying around taking up space.

not getting a wii and paying for old games again.

some games from the arcade are present on my pc as well.. good old mame.

Bnet 2.0 isnt ready and thats what all blizzard games are going to be running on.

Nihilism5294d ago

The article is sarcastic, we know bnet is the reason...you wouldnt happen to be the one that thumbed every single person down would you?, if so that's very childish, if not then carry on with not reading the article.

The Greatest Video Game Comeback Stories in Gaming History

Who says a dud game can't have a video game comeback?

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

thorstein105d ago

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

shinoff2183105d ago

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.

Diablo III - Still a Huge Draw in the Face of Diablo IV

Diablo III still works on modern PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and remains hugely playable a decade after initial release.

Palitera414d ago

Are you comparing a continuously improved 10+ years old masterpiece with the... beta of an unreleased game?

kevco33413d ago

Heh, yeah. There's no comparison in here! Its a commentary on how III is still very playable over a decade later.
