That Gaming Site: South Park: Let's Go Tower Defense Play! Review

That Gaming Site writes: "The South Park series has never fared well in the video game arena. While many of the series' games were capable of achieving short bursts of fun they all lacked substance in the long run. In 2009 South Park tries once again to contend in the gaming arena, this time with amazing results. At first glance the tower defense gameplay might discourage some players but rest assured it works!"

Great review, just downloaded the game about 20 minutes ago, love south park from your review it seems like a great game hope it doesn't disappoint me.

raiden_935316d ago

Great review but I still wouldn't put it any higher than a 9 and this is coming from a pretty big South Park fan. A better attempt at a South Park game but not the best in my eyes.

Ziriux5316d ago

Well that's just the thing, a game based of a show usually fails and turns out to be horrid, so for once we get a nice treatment.

Elven65316d ago

Much better than the old South Park games, the last decent one was the gameshow South Park game on the Dreamcast but that isn't saying much.

Ziriux5316d ago

Yea, I wouldn't mind a Jeopardy south park game, that'd be a lot of fun.

Elven65316d ago

Your wish has been answered, get yourself a Dreamcast and a copy of South Park: Chef's Luv Shack, just don't blame me...

Ziriux5316d ago

Dude, truth be told, I'd love to get a Dreamcast again, that would make my day.

I like the old south park games

South Park N64 is Classic to me

Ziriux5316d ago

I started following South Park, since let's see 2003, didn't know the show goes back before that. wow.

Elven65316d ago

The racing N64 one? It's been so long since I've played that, not sure what I'd think of it if I were to play it now.

Ziriux: I wouldn't mind everyone getting their hands on a Dreamcast who previously hadn't, Sega might still be in the biz if they did! :p

I will say its the best of the South Park games, I think that's something most people will agree on.

To me I just felt that a tower defense game didn't do it justice. Felt a little too much like a web browser game you'd expect to find of their official site only spruced up a little.

Ziriux5316d ago

Well yea that's true, it's a dumb down cheaper version of a tower defense game, but the fact that it worked nicely with a south park theme to it, kicks butt.

raiden_935316d ago

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure this is 800 MS points. At that price its worth picking up for the co-op alone. The single player is a tad more difficult when you're playing on your own but its great fun in co-op.

Elven65316d ago

For $10 this is a killer deal, you get so much content from it, hell, a lot of full retail games don't offer as much as some downloadable titles do.

We are going to see a lot of crap South Park products since they sold out to paramount years ago. It's their IP they can sell out, of course; it just means the quality of their show has tanked and other products as well. Nevertheless, they put on excellent musicals, but those haven't been sold to a mega corporation.

They said awhile ago that Ubisoft holds contract rights to the main flagship South Park games. So like stick, fractured and phone destroyer.

Snow Day was handled by THQ and Question and is a random spinoff. Hopefully Ubisoft is cooking something.

anast45d ago

That's one reason to be hopeful, but Ubi is trending down too.

Loved the RPGs but never played the others. Have to track them down. Still not sure about Snow Day though.
