PS3 Slim Sales Not As High As Expected

The Examiner chimes in with their opinion on NPD sales:

The much anticipated NPD September 2009 sales numbers were released today after being delayed through the weekend due to "last minute processing requirements." Judging by the actual numbers, one has to wonder if the fanboys demanded a recount of the data as PS3 sales numbers were much lower than expected considering that PS3 slim model was released at the end of August and now had a full month to make a difference.

Who expected the Xbox 360 wouldn't/couldn't release a single FULL AAA Exclusive Game in 2009?

PS: This is a fact. No? Name one then.

thor5331d ago

Of course. Arguments shift over time to accomodate people's views against the PS3.

-Teh no gamezz
-Weekly/monthly sales
-All-time sales
-Predicted sales against actual sales
-Not selling as well as the PS2
-Should have sold twice as much as 360

etc.

It's amazing that we still see people shouting "3rd place" when it's actually in 1st place in sales.

Hilarious spin indeed. Let's see what happens in October with Uncharted 2 releasing on the PS3 and no new Halo on the 360. Too bad Sony didn't release the 250gb Uncharted 2 bundle in NA.

EDIT - The article was submitted by a well known Xbox 360 fanboy. What a surprise!

Tinted Eyes5331d ago

lol Even when the PS3 smashes the 360 and beats the Wii, its still doomed.

Real Gambler5331d ago (Edited 5331d ago )

Just after Sony announced the Slim, both Nintendo and Microsoft lowered the price of their console. Maybe this obvious 360 fanboy doesn't worry about Sony selling more consoles, but I can tell you one thing: Nintendo AND Microsoft are definitively worrying a LOT!

Not as high as who expected?

Last year, when the 360 cut it's price to $200, sales for September spiked up to 347,200, 42% higher than the month before.

PS3 sales hit 491,800 after their price cut. That's over 40% higher than the spike the 360 had last year when they cut their price to cheaper than the PS3 is now.

And this is just in the US.
This guy needs to have his head checked.

The Examiner and their lazy examination

madmonkey05331d ago

lol how lame,

500k units in one month in the US is good numbers, world side will take it well over 1 million, probably 1.5million

myothercar5331d ago

EEDAR, WMS, Michael Pachter, and GAF aggregate were all expecting around 400-410k. They're all delusional fanboys for not predicting 600k+?

http://www.neogaf.com/forum...

Only a small fraction of posters predicted ~500k.

The truth is, certain people were going to act disappointed NO MATTER WHAT PS3 sold this month.

:)

Nathan Drake25331d ago (Edited 5331d ago )

of course that ps3 sales are not as high as expected:
worldwide sales in last 6 weeks:
ps3-1,795,000
x360-899,000

gnothe15331d ago

therefore the PS3 actually sold alittle less than 1 million more consoles than the 360, people were saying that the ps3 outsold the 360 by 1 million plus when it was actually less than a million. now once things level off what will the numbers look like then?

6 Games That Make You Feel Overpowered As Hell

Wolfenstein: The New Order Is The Last Of Its Kind

Wolfenstein: The New Order turns ten years old today, so we decided to play it again and discovered just how much of an extinct kind of game it is.

It's an outstanding game and so was The Old Blood. Also a lost era of gaming. Interesting, I received a physical copy of The Old Blood 9 years ago today from Poland. It was digital only in North America initially upon release so I had to import.

Wolfenstein: The New Order - A Highly Rated FPS That Hasn't Stood the Test of Time

Wolfenstein: The New Order launched 10 years ago today, but can it stand up to the modern FPS titles it inspired?

Seth_hun3d ago

I disagree. Its still a fantastic game, with very good gunplay and a surprisingly loveable cast of characters and a good story trough many different and interesting setpieces

hiawa233d ago (Edited 3d ago )

All The New Order needs for my tastes is a this gen enhancement patch.

ChasterMies3d ago

I played New Order a couple of years after launch and I give it an 8/10. The shooter holds up because it is focused on being a good shooter. There is no crafting, no RPG elements, no open world find the question mark Weapons are fun. Enemies are fun. Levels offer a nice mix of stealth and shooting. You get to be the predator; this isn’t a game about fending off waves of enemies while a robot companion unlocks a door. Most importantly, New Order is the last of a dying breed of single player shooters.

Skuletor3d ago

Singleplayer shooters are still getting released every year, just look up "boomer shooters" and you'll find an an abundance of them. AAA fps campaigns, not so much.

Last year had Trepang2, RoboCop: Rogue City, Turbo Overkill, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, Dread Templar, Sprawl and more

DustMan3d ago

The games you mentioned are not from AAA developers. Wolfenstein likely had a budget that was probably as big as all those games you mentioned combined. I'm not knocking the new wave of retro shooters. I absolutely love them (I think some get much higher review scores than they deserve though). I just really wouldn't describe Wolfenstein as purely a boomer shooter based on the relatively cohesive story, with cut scenes and is fully voice acted. Full set piece moments.

AA development seems to be focused keeping the single player solo experience alive. But the big developers are only concerned about the MTX and milking players who enjoy multiplayer.

ChasterMies2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

The age of AA shooters. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. I like less expense, shorter games.

Abear213d ago

Weird all the Wolfenstein articles.

Can you guess what will be announced at Xbox showcase?

DefenderOfDoom23d ago

What Machine Games did with Wolfenstein franchise is awesome. The game play definitely to me , is still very fun to play !!!
