This one's just a little sad. PCWorld decided that from their gadgets and gizmos a plenty, their whozits and whatzits galore, they'd choose 20 products of the year (try to ignore that it's only May). The Wii made it in the top three, and stunningly, the Xbox 360 Elite made it on the list too. The PS3? Well, she ain't there, let's just chalk it up to that media conspiracy we discussed earlier.
The Wii earned the number three spot because it was "the first game console to get nongamers hooked on gaming, nominating it more than any other product ... Nintendo really has something with the Wii. Now if only we could find one for sale." Then down the list, but at least it's on the list, was the Xbox 360 Elite. PCWorld.com says, "The high-end 360 now ships with 1080p support and a 120GB hard drive, but it's the Xbox Live service, and the games and downloadable video on it, that make Microsoft's console really shine." What's wrong with PCWorld? As a famous woman once said, "Have you ever even heard of the Blu-ray? It's the future!"
Oh well, maybe with a little change Sony's embattled system can make a comeback on some actual year-end "product of the year" lists. Then again, it's gonna take something mighty impressive to defeat the Wii's possible DVD playback at that point.
Backward compatibility works for many games on newer consoles, but titles such as The Simpsons: Hit and Run have been left out.
From base building to swinging willies, here are the best survival games around, which include a couple of less than obvious picks.
It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.
Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.
They're scum.
"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."
Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.
Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.
But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?
Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

golden legs there makes off with the dough"

Perfect description of the Wii.
You said it... products of the year and its only May. Why in gods name would the elite be on there? I dont get it. Its a fine machine... but in the top 20 products of the year?
haha gotta love shunning the ps3. except nintendo and 360 won't be laughing when ps3's game library is the most diverse and offers more variety to the average consumer. what is pc world thinking if the most powerful video game console ever released isn't on their list of products of the year. i mean really, the ps3 deserves to be on just as much as wii and 360.
Those things are so dusty they make my mouth dry. You would have better luck plugging your PS3 controller into a rock.
Maddens Raiders even a "raving lunatic" like me knows the truth. The PS3 is like a desert mirage, you run you ass off to it only to find a dried up mud hole with the bones of dead animals.
yea yea ok ok sure !!
