wait till those people find out you need firmware 6.00 to play gt psp(right now, there's only cfw 5.50). I guess you could rebuild the iso with decryptor, but people will be disappointed at first, getting that error message.

Actually I version hacked my psp to 5.55 to run the Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker TGS demo and it let me boot it first try, although the ISO I got might already have been rebuilt with decryptor, but as this was the most seeded ISO on the site I'm sure that most people are not going to see any error messages. I know I didn't and have been happily playing GTPSP since last night.

PS: I'm buying a GO in a month with this and several other PSP games to anyone ready to scream PIRATE, not that I care but just didn't want you to waste your time and everyones.

edit: It'd be ok if they only used homebrew on it but they all try to justify pirating by saying they want to play backups. Cause a hacked PSP is way more useful than an unhacked one. But it sucks that this stuff has drained millions from the industry.

The hackers know the system too well. I don't think Sony can ever really get rid of the pirating problem.

And when people download games instead of buying them, that drains money from the industry. Word it anyway you want. Games are a business and pirating is killing that.

Um, what? So a company's successful, therefore they're greedy? And Sony doesn't love that their systems are hacked (minus the PS3) cause the way they make money off a console is by games sold. So I doubt they love that they're losing out on money.

Actually piracy effect the consumer more then the greedy people, there greedy people have a ton of cash for a reason, they always get paid, the consumer ends up paying more for the product to offset the piracy. So when a gamer goes out shells out 39.99 for a game, part of that cost is to make up for people like you who don't pay for it.

Explain to me how it is a lost sale if I pirate a game I NEVER WOULD HAVE PAYED FOR NO MATTER WHAT ? it's NOT in fact if I then end up being proven wrong by my original notion that this game wasn't worth60 or w/e $ then Maybe I like it enough to want the actual media boxart etc.. then I go buy a game I never would have payed for, that's a plus sale. Fact is I will only pay full price for a title if it's worth full price which sadly most aren't, and for the ones that are who wouldn't want the actual disc and art etc.. Also if I lend my game out to friends so they can play through it am I "Stealing" sales from the company ? what if my friend lives in another state so I have to send him the game and he sends it to another person etc.. until everyone that wanted to play it has and nobody payed for it, are we pirates ? is it SOO different if I copied my game so I didn't have to be without it while he played it? Why ? what does when who plays what matter accept for semantically ? they were able to access the graphics card on Linux, which otherwise isn't possible.. Sony came with a quick fix shortly after.. firmware 2.01 fixed the problem... so PS3 has also been hacked, but it was more of a c0ckup by the firmware devs.. but then the PSP scene was also a fvck up by Sony devs..

i would have thought it would take longer since the usual method of PSP hacking involves removing its battery and you cant do that with the GO apparently

It is an existing exploit using a corrupted save game file and has been around for a long time. Custom firmware cannot be written to it so it's no big deal.

Which for all intents and purposes is a hack of a save file, not the PSPGo. It's just that people who do this try to make it look more exciting and worthwhile than it really is.

Yes a modified save file is used, but this gives FULL access to user mode, meaning almost every homebrew application can be run under it, aside from custom firmware and ISO loaders. Don't know about you but I'd consider that a hack.

You do know that user mode doesn't include functionality for use of the controls within the element created, right? Essentially all he is doing is running a screen saver on the machine.

That is not hacked, since it changes none of the operatives of the system and only puts onto it a file that is allowed by design.

Homebrewed applications will be useless until you hack the firmware for integrated control functionality.

I don't get why anyone would want one, news of a download only psp inspired me to buy a psp3000 . has a disk drive and dozens of great very cheap games, it's a great little console once you've brought an add on to make it comfortable to hold, otherwise its bad hand cramps . i'm glad the go has been hacked, it needs to be.

you are obviously missing the point of the article. PSPs out-of-the-box are pretty much half-useles overpriced devices. Even PSP 3k with UMD drive. once you hack it - it becomes soething much more.. it's a whole new device. it's a gadget you will always want to carry along. Not necessarily because of free games. hacked PSP allows you to play almost any video format(through 3rd party software), use homebrew applications etc. also, on hacked PSP games load faster. a lot of reasons.

The PSP 1000 model can be perma hacked and have custom firmware flashed to it. Some of the PSP 2000 models can be perma hacked using the same method. The rest of the 2000 and 3000 models as long as they have Official Firmware 5.03 can be temporarily flashed with custom firmware and it will stay on as long as the battery doesn't die or a hard shutdown is performed. If either of those happen then the process is pretty simple to temp. reflash it. The PSP Go has had absolutely nothing special happen to it at all. It cannot be temp flashed due to the new system boards being used in them. Eventually someone may figure it out but as of right now the PSP Go is unhacked.

Actually this doesn't enable ISO loading, Custom Firmware installation or anything Piracy related. It only runs in User Mode meaning it also does not open up any doors whatsoever to the aforementioned piracy methods so this will not at all effect Devs decisions to develop for PSP, also I should mention that the PSP1000 was perma hacked before games like God of War, and Crisis Core, Assasins Creed, and Dissidia, etc..etc.... were ever in development and this did nothing to stop these publishers from making great PSP games that sold pretty well BTW. Not to mention as is the case with God of War, Sony will always have first party support for their handheld. uncharted PSP here I come!
