'Uncharted 2: 'Start the sales bashing!' What a joke

VGarabia.com "In an article on N4g, SMGamers.com published an article about how some of the gaming media are bashing PS3 exclusives by bringing them down through mentioning sales figures for those games and comparing them with very popular Xbox 360 exclusives such as Halo 3 and Gears. The author of the article even mentioned our article 'Will Uncharted 2 be the first PS3 exclusive to sell 5 million copies?' as a bashing material for Uncharted 2, which is absolutely wrong. While his article does have some good points, the author bashed a couple of gaming website including ours just for hits. I will explain why by replying to one of the quotes from his article"

Who cares about sales. This game should be pretty good.

gaffyh5357d ago

Xbox fanboys care. They play sales, not games as far as N4G tells us.

iceman065356d ago

I care...but not because I am some mindless, blinded fanboy. On the contrary, it is because SALES will keep the business going. If a company is given millions of dollars to produce a quality game and the game under-performs...what is the likelihood that the company gets that chance again. If you look at the economic climate at this moment...several game studios have closed their doors for this particular reason. Games are NOT performing where it matters (in terms of business) and that is in the marketplace. Also, if a game franchise DOES get a second or third chance...it is usually passed down to one of the 3rd tier devs that will usually do a horrible job of doing justice to what the original IP intended. One only needs to look at Tomb Raider to see an example of that. Lara Croft is STILL struggling to get attention...and her last game was actually more than passable.

Actually HALO 3 OTS and Uncharted 2 are neck and neck in sales on amazon right now, and Uncharted 2 comes out several weeks later. I wouldn't be surprised if Uncharted 2 pulls off more sales after all the PS3 is on a hot streak.

chidori6665357d ago

only bots blame of sales of uc2..

Grimm105357d ago

Graphically the game will be a masterpiece. Shame the story won't be as epic as an FF or MGS game.

Hellsvacancy5357d ago (Edited 5357d ago )

Yeah but does the story really hav 2 b epic 4 it 2 b a good game - theres a mixed sheet of games cummin out over the months that will fulfill my gamin needs

Rage - Run and gun
Mafia 2 - GREAT story-tellin
God Of War 3 - Is that the "epic" enough 4 ya
Heavy Rain - The game i want the most

xTruthx5357d ago

You cant compare this game to MGS and FF, they have been with us for many many years. Uncharted just begun and you still love the story, I know the first 1 was good, second one looks to be looking even better.

MetalGearRising5357d ago

Halo3 ODST on its own will crush Uncharted 2 its just the way it is also Sales shows how good a game really is.Tell me which developer wouldn't want to see their game which they've spent tears and sweat do good sales numbers.

Gun_Senshi5357d ago

Look at Sales!! Over 100mil!!!

Nevermind that one of the best JRPGs, Xenogears sold under 100k, or that masterpieces like Ico and SotC sold abymsal

waitandsee5357d ago

ODST may sell more, but that does not matter. Two exclusives on completely different platform
I have bashed flopzone because of the hype and $50M over 5yrs, but UC2 is different. Never finished the 1st one, but as I bu all exclusive on 360 and PS3 (yes even Too Human and Haze). I have this on pre-order.

Berserk15357d ago

@waitandsee KILLZONE 2 SOLD 2 M STUPID.

redsquad5357d ago (Edited 5357d ago )

"Sales shows how good a game really is?"
Oh dear god... are you ill? If not, why do you even bother coming here? Just go to the local store, look at what's number one for your console and BUY IT, FOOL! After all, it must be good, right?

Optical_Matrix5357d ago

Xbro's strike again. Judging by your logic WiiFit should have been GoTY 2008. Sales do not reflect how good a game is. Sales reflect how many consumers are interested in the game as a result of their own personal preferences and opinions. Whether or not the game is good comes into it but at the same time that is way at the bottom of the list of why games sell. Marketing is what sells games.

Currently playing Drakes Fortune on crushing, next will be to replay Among Thieves, but I'm sure it still holds up today.

P_Bomb1478d ago (Edited 1478d ago )

Recently re-platinumed 1-3. Uncharted 2 aged better than I even expected. I enjoyed it more now than I did a decade ago. It’s more polished than 1, tighter than 3 and Yemen in 3 was gorgeous. Shambhala out-prettied Ubar though. 60fps w higher res’ made for a damn good rerun.

Abnor_Mal1478d ago

Question: When you say Uncharted2 aged better than expected, are you talking about the original PS3 game or the remastered collection on PS4. I ask because I think that a remastered version of the game would look and play better than the original.

I doubt that the original ran at 60 frames, how many years old is the remastered collection anyway.

I need to replay the original trilogy along with the collection, not a fan of the collection trophy of beating levels in a set time and don't think the originals required that for platinum.

P_Bomb1477d ago (Edited 1477d ago )

@abnor_mal
It’s true that the remasters have upped the resolution and given it 60fps, but the base game is the same. The art design and base textures/physics/ animations are the same yet still look contemporary. More-so than UC1 which isn’t as tight, or UC3 in some cases which I found a bit clunky in close quarters.

UC2 level design was a great evolution in bringing the verticality from the jungle into rural/urban settings while maintaining smooth animation transitions. Drake still moves better than the ginger in Star Wars Jedi. Outdoor areas are better lit.

UC2 also has more action and better pacing imo, which helps when replaying a game 10 years later. Kept me engaged.

You don’t need to time trial for platinum. They stuck the speedrun trophies in a seperate extended dlc category so have no fear.

MadLad1478d ago

I thought the originals were good, but not great. I understand that puts me in the minority here. That said, Uncharted 4 was freaking fantastic.

Profchaos1478d ago (Edited 1478d ago )

Yeah I understand the hate for 4 prior to playing it I was firmly against it and felt like 3 wrapped things up already but now after playing it I think it was the best in the franchise.

Now I look back at two and I feel like I'm playing an on the rails shooter everything is so tightly scripted including the infamous train scene you simply can't make a mistake

Rimeskeem1478d ago

I think Uncharted 2 is a lot like AC2. Both games took the idea and basically improved it in every single way.

Movefasta19931477d ago

Uc2, AC2,Halo2, Soul calibur 2, Killzone 2, Infamous 2 , Dishonored 2 and a few more. The only negative thing I have against uc2, and imo it annoyed me,are the blue apes, uncharted 1 handled the super natural far better.
