...I downloaded and played it. It's under F. on games marketplace, but will probably show up at new releases now or soon.

Anyway, I played 3 matches, and I'm severely disappointed:

+ 360 degrees controls are great.
+ Players react better (more diverse) to balls in the air (more volleys and different headers.

- Still the extremely unfriendly menu, which takes ages to pick the club you want to play, among other old negatives about the menu. Like so many EA menu's lately, it looks OK but is just CRAP to navigate quickly and in a way that would make sense.

- Keepers are crap. Come out too far from their goals, which means lots of easy lobs from the opposition. Ridiculous. And yeah, I played on experienced (the highest setting available in the demo)

- The bodycheck option for the rightstick to battle for the ball sounds nice in theory, but in practice those programming geniusses(!) have managed to also make that change the player you're controlling(!)

- I threw the ball into the opposing goal-area, the opponent headed it behind it's own keeper (with no players of mine near him btw), and the goal was given to the player who gave the pass, instead of it being the own goal it so clearly was. And no, the ball wasn't heading towards goal begfore the idiot headed it in.

- Replays now look horrible. When the ref gives someone a card, only the ref and players around him are sharp, and the rest is just a complete blurry mess. Might be an artistic choice they made, but TBH, it really was the wrong choice.

I think I will stick to FIFA09 (or perhaps Pro Evo will finally surprise us), cause the demo is absolutely not convincing me that this is an improvement, let alone a reason to shell out 60 bucks for it.

Such a shame. I had high hopes but this is just ridiculous... :(

Imo it's great. If you know how to play the game then i'm sure you will like it.

Yi-Long5367d ago

... I played football games ever since the first Fifa on the Megadrive (still have that one btw) and the first International Superstar Soccer on the SNES (actually, before those games, I was already playing football games on the C64 and amiga and such...)

Dating back to recent memory, I've played LOTS of Pro Evo and last year FIFA09, and my problems with this demo had nothing to do with it being 'difficult',
but with the AI of the keeper and design-decisions when it comes to the unfriendly menu (same problems as last year, where it will take ages to quickly pick the team you want), as well as the right-stick which you want to use for body-checks, but will also change the player you're controlling (which is just beyond stupidity).

even tho I do owned it. There were one reason that I couldn't play the game for long period of time, is simply because of the gameplay. In my opinion it still haven't match to what pro evo have offered, i.e. it doesn't give the realistic feeling of playing football.

I have to admitted that fifa have been improve both in the gameplay and the graphic, however the Ai are still not smart.
I have try out the hardest setting, but still I manage to at least score them 5-0 everytime, I say what the point of playing when your opponent are so easy to beat? Lucky Fifa have the online which were awesome comparing to pro evo.

Either way I don't see the point of buying this one, maybe a rent to see if the Ai have an improvement with a harder difficulty. I probably stay with 09 for now and getting 2010 pro evo

The demo is absolutely atrocious. It feels like it should have been made 10 years ago. The gameplay is too fast paced, the players stick to the ground, and it has a real arcadey feel to it. I had extremely high hopes for this game, because I am a rabid FIFA 09 fan, but I was sorely disappointed.

EA you have let me down. Looks like I'm going to pick up PES this year.

I think I'll be getting this on PS3 as ironically the 360 doesn't have the new 360 degree control that the PS3 version has

marcindpol5367d ago

are you serious???, i do not think so you are...

can someone confirm please.

IronFistChinMi5367d ago

Don't spread BS. The 360 has 360 movement on the analogue stick, but not with the D-pad due to the D-pad being 8-way directional only. Thing is, it was Konami who said this and not EA.

Yi-Long5367d ago

... the 360 version has the 360 degrees controls. I just played it, and it controls pretty well, which makes you wonder why it took so long before it was incorporated into sportsgames like this...

Apart from the smoother controls though, I'm not impressed with the demo AT ALL.

You are thinking of Konami. PES on the PS3 will have better 360 degree controls because of limitations on the xbox, according to what konami released.

pandabear5367d ago

My appologies, It was PES who said this not Fifa (despite a new controller being released last year to improve PES (improved D Pad.

PES is really struggling to keep up with Fifa these days and looks like for the 3rd year in a row Fifa will be the better game.

Quote from Gamespot 'The PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC versions of the game will feature the new control system when using the analog sticks, while only PS3 users will see the benefit using the D pad--even with the upgraded D pad controller that shipped last year to tie in with Pro Evo’s 2009 iteration.'

Videogame Virgin: Assassin’s Creed III, FIFA and bathrobes

Editor’s note: In this bi-weekly feature, Pixelitis staffer Matt Brown shares his “down the rabbit hole” look into gaming history. Having admittedly missed what many consider “classics,” join him as he dives in head first. We ask that you just be gentle with him.)

"Going down the list in Steve Bowden’s 100 Computer Games to Play Before You Die, I was supposed to write something about Defender this week but I decided not to. Just doesn’t feel right. Not for this week, not for right now at least.

I want to talk about something bigger, I guess. I want to talk about how, in times like these, gaming is valuable and vital. So I’m gonna do that instead."

Football games: Worth every penny or a total con?

TGC writes: There are those that like to argue whether you are a Fifa gamer or a Pro Evolution Soccer gamer. I’m going to take it one step further and say your either a football gamer or a non football gamer. The fact of the matter is a new game comes out every year with possibly the slightest difference from the previous game and they release it onto the shelves in quantities thinking that they’ve made something new and improved. I really think they should hold a prize for anyone who can spot the difference between FIFA 09 and FIFA10 because I’m really struggling.

I use to buy every sports game I was interested in madden,MLB,nba and wwe along few others and I remember buying playing for few days than thinking why I paid full price for this. Than one year about 4 years ago I said no more and I have never bought another sports game at launch sometimes I do buy me when they $20 on craiglist of sale but that's barely

IMO sports games don't do enough to justify a fully price and that's just my opinion

If 2k can sell nfl 2k5 for $19.99 and make a profit than why are games today with less content are selling for full 60? No wonder why EA ran to nfl and bought the exclusive rights

FIFA
Nfl
Nba
MLB
Wwe
NHL
Etc,

Sports games shuld be every 2 years and in between dlc and more updates and stuff like tournaments

berndogskate4304d ago

If people are willing to buy them then whats the problem? i think its cod or mw123 you should be talking about, the new pes and fifa look good this year.

Sports games tend to bore me, but I'm very fond of Tony Hawk, Skate, NBA Street V2 and some WWE games (if you count it as sport... sports entertainment... whatever).
