I bet it didnt work much longer after this....Having electricity run through it before water gets to the internal componets is fine but once the water gets through the case its all over......best thing would be to take it apart and let it all dry *after disconnecting the battery to prevent any ambient power*

I mean like all apple hand held products (including ipod) its put together by vacuum, so no water is going to go in =P.
However, doesn't mean your ipod will work underwater considering it isn't 100% vacuum packed, the iphone is almost completely i think (and itouch too)
