Super Mario Galaxy 2 Announced

Nintendo revealed a brand-new Mario Galaxy title for Wii. Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be the first 3D Mario title to hit a Nintendo console in the same generation.

New super mario wii is going to crush gaming like it did no the DS. If you don't like this idea or that game then you don't like traditional gaming period. That along should have been like mario 3 to us when we where younger. Then the fact you are also getting another 3d mario on top of that and a metorid. I'm glad nintendo is not catering to most of you because they are catering to the true hardcore.

This message is mostly for all the flamers that will post here. Nintendo is not here to hype you up with effects... they are about substance in game play not hype and 2010 release dates.

More people where made hardcore gamers from mario 2d games than any other game including FPS and graphic whore games. The next E3 should be pretty fun also, nintendo seems very serious this time also. LOL you guys may have pushed a little too much.

I expect the gamers to not like the conference though.... wait till you play the games...

Looks outstanding, on games I think Nintendo has defeated Microsoft, yes Microsoft has graphics but the Wii make do with what it has and I am not going out to buy a Wii but these are some great looking games and new i.p's

I'm assuming you like your games casual. If not then there is no way in hell Nintendo has beat Microsoft in the quantity and quality of real games this generation. Hell even the PS3 has a better lineup of real games then Nintendo. This is coming from an owner of all three systems.

The only places that were applauding their conference were retirement homes...

With the vitality sensor, the nurses can see if the guests at the retirement home are still alive without paying thousands for expensive medical equipment.

On topic, this and Metroid were like the only things that got an applause. I am looking forward to these two games though.

Yeah I'm casual./sarcasm I have 16 days playtime on COD 4 alone, I am not casual maybe that's why I liked Nintendo's so much, new games surrounding new ideas on new gameplay. This was Microsoft.

They had a go at Sony for sixaxis gimmicks, now look I will go as far to say that Natal is worse than Wii motion controller plus shall I tell you why? Button that's why, explain How FPS will work, explain how most game will work. Explain how racers work? They won't you need buttons it's that simple. The Wii pulls it of best basing it's console succesful around motion and button, Sony has more buttons but the sixaxis isn't there and Microsoft is either buttons and no motion, or no buttons but motion. You decide.

This announcement is exactly what I wanted. Galaxy is the best game on the Wii IMO and I'm super excited about Galaxy 2 already. Just wish it was coming out sooner.

Here is a thought.....what if the reality is........is that you are not a "gamer". I would think that a gamer would be somebody who would play any game, regardless of the perception or intention for a certain age range.......why? Because gamers like games! Perhaps I am old school.....and got my start with the likes of pong, pacman, and other just to name a few........but again, I feel like a gamer will give any game a shot. It's funny how things have changed..now if a game does not offer DLC, then it is not really for gamers. Perhaps you should check the roots...and redefine what a gamer is. Sounds more like you have been spoiled by the evolution of gaming...and forgot that back in the day, gaming was simple..and was about having fun.

I think that either Microsoft or Nintendo's conference were the best. They were all great, but the problem with Microsoft's is that...well there were not a lot of AMAZING games. None of them blew me away except maybe for Splinter Cell. There were no true exclusives.

If it is on the PC, then it isn't a exclusive. Therefore, the Xbox 360 had few exclusives. I believe there are only 18 REAL exclusives on the 360 (good ones).

So I really liked all of the conferences (need to finish watching Sony's, but got most of it). The worst conference so far was EA's when they showed the Girl's Club and Littlest Pet Shop (which is a bad thing to show at a hardcore gamer's conference. It is like showing family photos to a cop when he pulls you over).

its funny how everyone says before the conference that all they need to do is announce new Zelda and a New Mario and it will be a good conference but you get 3 new Marios(one on DS), a new metroid and after E3 Miyamoto practicaly announces a new Zelda for wii, and you fanboys are still going say it was bad? whats your problem? i think you always need to be putting down another system, even if you have to fake it. And if you truely think that Nintendo did bad then you arnt a true gamer. I dont think either of you are true gamers, cant kiddy games be fun? heres an example, Boom Blox, that is very kiddy just look at the characters and the whole game is playing with blocks, but ask any gamer thats played it and they'll say they had a blast. Yup for me Ratchet was a more complete experience in terms of gameplay, graphics, presentation, and story.

If all I wanted to do was screw around I guess Galaxy would be a better game. However, I like something to keep me engaged and the story of Ratchet and the Booty DLC did that. Heck even my gf got further in Ratchet and she is a "casual gamer".

SMG2 just looks like it has that old jumping puzzle formula established in Mario down to a tee once again. I mean, some of that footage looked tough as heck, with flipping panels and the like, amazing level design from what I saw.

hehe, when a sequel is normally announced, everyone always comment on it being to like the previous game in the series.

But here comes a Mario game looking and playing EXACTLY like the previous, but now people are like: "OMG IS AWEZOMEZ?!?!?" hate this fanboyish love some people have for mario games, it's still the same sh*tty childish platformer we played on the nintendo 64..

Am i the only one who thought yoshi was completely useless in mario sunshine? I honestly think he almost ruined that game. It was infuraiting trying to jump ledges riding that squeeking moron. I hope they sort that out.

If i am honest (again) although mario galaxy was a classic, i hoped it would be a one off. At the back of my mind i knew they were going to use that template and make another game. I think this will take away the brilliant individuality and originality of the first game. All this aside though, i will buy the game, simply because i know it will be quality.

Galaxy 2 looks friggin fantastic! it seems they took everything awesome from galaxy and improved on it. It is 100% epic. I sincerely wished they would make more then 2 super huge game announcements but it seems they wasted all those resources on iwatas ridiculous vitality doodad.

Still.. glaxy 2 will kick incredible ass and makes it 100% worth it to keep your wii all on it's own.
