The ability to switch units at anytime was a pretty interesting singleplayer mechanic that I thought we would see more of, but it never really caught on. I guess maybe the recent Watch Dogs Legion had something similar, although I didn't play it.
Good observation. Yes, it gave singleplayer a more tactical feel due to the scale. I suppose at that time, with the rise of online multiplayer in the console space, minds were more set on developing new multiplayer experiences.
We had a game on PC with a similar mechanic called "Wargasm". (yes, that was it's actual name, haha). Combined Infantry, Tank, APC & Helicopter combat, controllable from a map like an RTS, but with the ability to jump in directly and fight FPS/TPS style.
It was pretty cool at the time. More "Arcadey" than Battlefield became.

First, stop being so triggered. Being so angry about something so mundane is worrying, maybe you need to look into why that is.
Secondly, why don't you go round all the UK shops offering "free" iphones and android phones when you sign up to £60 a month tariffs and scream at the staff that it's not free?

360 and original xbox games are free. You can download them and play them free on 360 and xbox one offline.
Mx unleashed has been free to gold for ages for some reason, front lines is a good freebie it's not advertised.
Both games are free to keep in xbox digi library. No subsxription required to play these games once there added. There yours to keep

This game is going to be one of the best mutiplayer experiences online. Nice find, I've been following this game since its been announced. I wonder what they have instore for the ps3 controller. 32 player plus online = sweet.
