UK Supermarket ASDA (owned by US chain Walmart) will be selling Playstation2 consoles tomorrow (Thursday 22 Feb) for only £50 which is half the recommended retail price.
The details of the offer are still unclear, but what is known is that the deal will be limited to a set number of consoles in the chain's 316 stores. The units will go on sale when Asda's electrical department opens tomorrow morning – 7.30am in most stores.
One Asda store assistant told MCV: "Yes, we will be selling PS2s for 50 quid tomorrow morning. But I'd get here as early as you can if I were you. We're expecting a massive response once word gets out – and we've only got a certain number available."
Backward compatibility works for many games on newer consoles, but titles such as The Simpsons: Hit and Run have been left out.

Best deal ever. Certainly compared to a 600 dollar PS3 with no great AAA games. Go get that PS2 tomorrow right away
and then THREE come along at once!
In the last few days:
Xbox 360 Premium £199
Xbox 360 Core £149
PS2 £50
Looks like we've never had it so good - finally the UK gets a good deal! There's no excuse now not to be in the Sony AND Microsoft camps!
Although in all fairness when the PS3 is released next month £50 should be the normal price for the PS2 in the same way GAME sell Xbox's for £50 at the moment.
Oh and TheMART, add Resident Evil 4, Okami, and Shadow of the Colossus to God of War and how can anyone resist?!
