Granblue Fantasy: Relink Review | Kakuchopurei

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is a beautiful burst of fantasy anime colours with a good amount of substance to keep your action RPG tendencies sated. The wait for its release was a long one, but in gameplay, character selection, and music, it delivers to its fans and any action RPG fan looking for a Monster Hunter-like clone without the control “nuances”.

" think it’s pretty common for JRPGs to have heavy dialogue and story-telling but what needs to happen is that JRPG developers need to show more than tell the story. It feels a little like you’re being spoonfed instead of experiencing the magic itself. "

I completly disagree. With this. Would any reviewer say the same about ff7 remake, tales of arise.

I'll be honest, I was really pumped for this from the trailers, but when I played the demo... it just was missing that punch I was expecting. I sort of felt it was B-Tier for a game kind of on the level of a Gust developed game. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's bad from what I played, but it definitely felt like 7/10 game to me from the demo.

I actually was not sure if this was for me but then WHEN I played the demo, I really enjoyed it and made it a day one for me. So everyones different as ever lol.

phoenixwing99d ago

Gust games aren't really b tier to me imo

VincentVanBro99d ago

Same, I canceled my collector's edition pre-order after playing the demo. The gameplay and storytelling seemed fairly shallow. Lots of expositional bloat in the dialog scenes.

FinalFantasyFanatic99d ago

@Phoenixwing,
Really? They always feel like AA tier to me, and I'm okay with that, I still enjoy most of them.

FF7 Remake and Tales of Arise both showed the story instead of telling it. No idea what you are on about. Haven't you played any JRPGs that had "filler" dialog that went on and on without really adding to the plot?

Angyobangyo99d ago (Edited 99d ago )

Not every reviewer has played those games.

VincentVanBro99d ago

Seems like a shallower version of Monster Hunter with an added story that is barely worth telling.

GoodGuy0999d ago (Edited 99d ago )

Hmm I'll wait for other reviews. The game was in quite the development hell. It unfortunately has looked generic to me with every new trailer and gameplay.

May have to wait for a sale and just enjoy persona 3 reload for now.

Never heard of this site before. I am not worried about opinions from other people it’s day one for me.
It is strange to have a unknown site be first before everyone else. I am not saying their opinion isn’t valid but it does make me skeptical of their review.

I know the general story of this game having watched the anime. I don’t now if it’s a retelling of the anime or a side story but either way I’ll be playing with friends on Friday.

notachance99d ago

Where are everyone else’ review? It’s already past the embargo date isn’t it?

jznrpg99d ago

It is today Jan 31st this site broke embargo to be first. The rest of the scores seem to be 8-10

Honestly, If I worked presently for Microsoft's gaming division, I would update my CV and look for work elsewhere...

Simon_the_sorcerer19h ago

I would do the same, because MS will most likely pull-off more stunts like this in the near future...

"Now"?

How about "ever"?

They closed so many of their dev teams during the second half of the Xbox 360 era. Have we forgotten history so quickly?

Dummy fake journalists acting so surprised over these recent closures, when this is something that's been going on for well over a decade now with MS.
